I just set up Jellyfin 2FA thru Jellyfin Security plugin with OIDC / SSO Providers. Also plugin supports passkeys and app passwords. A lot advanced features. With Quick Connect, every tv and what not is able to login when your account is 2FA protected. WT* is emby doing?? The paid tier is more joke every day

Hum interesting and weirdo, while doing some checks on the server running Emby, I discovered that the fw was off and so I reactivated it and now problem of read/unread not updating has disappeared instantly. It looks like if the http port is reachable the android app is not able to push these updates.... very very strange

Emby Beta 4.10.0.15+: Crashing due to Out of Memory on DS918+ Package Center Install
sa2000 replied to DarWun's topic in Synology
Two things to try - Change the interval to 8 hours and see if that is sufficient time for previously allocated memory to get released by the memory garbage collector in .Net - When running manually, instead of running the scheduled task, just run the scan for the specific library Of course you will need to restart Emby Server to establish if these changes make a difference -

The "Scan media library" task is scheduled to run every six hours. That was the interval I seem to recall others recommended when I first setup the server may years ago. Usually I'll run it manually as well when new media is added or removed from the library. Not sure if this is worth mentioning, but I've only seen the spike in memory usage when I run the "Scan media library" task manually. So far, I have never seen it happen when the tasks runs automatically according to the schedule. -
I've been waiting and waiting for 2FA/MFA in Emby forever. I don't disagree with your statement, but it is a necessary evil. Really, if MFA is a reality someday, your identity manager of choice would likely have Passkeys which makes things almost seemless. I just enabled those with Authentik and its... lovely. I may go with LDAP for Emby, but I feel the work isn't worth it other than my family having SSO across services which is a goal.

yeah but there is nothing in between, the emby server is exposed via its public ip address that is the public ip address of the server it's running on. Here are my network settings in case something would be wrong: you can say that, http and https are activated but I forced the https for remote and there are only remote connections on it. The http port is blocked by firewall.

I removed all the plugins in the list Luke provided, including TimeLordTV and TimeLordMovies. Memory usage by Emby hasn't actually changed much from prior to uninstalling the plugins. It started out at around 300MB and over the next five or six hours it climbed to somewhere between 900MB and 1.2GB where it sat for most of yesterday. It's currently sitting at 1.3GB after 24hours. This is pretty much normal behavior. Emby's memory usage suddenly jumping to 2GB+ when a library scan is initiated...that only started occurring in the last month. I'm not sure if what I have is considered a large library by the standards of other Emby users. Usually I only do a server reboot when a new Emby Beta version is released. Although recently that has meant the server is rebooted once a week due to frequent releases, in the past when releases were less frequent I definitely went two or more weeks between restarts without an OOM event occurring. Anyway, thanks for your input! -
HI there, can you please provide a specific example? How to Report a Problem Thanks !

dwlassen started following Show entire path in folder mode
-
As many others probably are, I am a big fan of folder view as it provides context, organization and minimizes the need for a lot of metadata as it to a great extent is built in to the folder structure. The one feature that would make folder view even better is if the full path could be displayed on top of the screen. Right now only the current folder name is shown there and I couldn't find an option to change that. So this demo folder structure: looks like this in Emby: whereas ideally I would like to see: This way the image subtitle is uncluttered and shows the image (or folder) name only, and the full context (path) is shown above. In case of very long paths, the path would either have to wrap or it could only show the right-most portion of the path which there is room for. Does this option exist? If not I would like to propose it as a new option. (I tried looking in "Feature Requests" but couldn't find a similar request) Thanks in advance Dennis

Nabukodonosor started following Emby not downloading cover arts
-
I have a Concerts folder with several concerts and some movies related to music. So, my library is of the Mixed content type. I don't know, maybe that's wrong, maybe it should be of Movies type. But I don't think it matters. I'm interested to know how come when I created the library it didn't download any of the covers? I had to get and insert them manualy. You can see one of them on my screenshot. And my settings. I thought maybe the cover is not available on FanArt, but it is: https://fanart.tv/movie/11401/metallica-some-kind-of-monster/?section=poster Why didn't Emby get it? It did get the logo and backdrop. But not the cover. And this was the case for my whole library.
-
Well, on the left is the regular Android app. On the right Android TV app.
-
@ebr out off curiosity, what app do you use? It might just be a random thing but, Emby for Android TV seems to me to slightly handle the posters better. Understand if you don't answer as it could maybe cause some discussion in the android vs Android tv debate.

Emby asking for Premiere Subscription when accessing from outside LAN
pwhodges replied to kicsrules's topic in General/Windows
The client must be able to access MB3admin.com. The check is made that way to improve security - not by the client asking the server, which would be a bit like asking it to mark its own homework. Paul -

Use StableBit Drive Pool on Windows. Fantastic app. Much better than Windows Storage Spaces. Also get StableBit Scanner which will scan your drives every month looking for issues. If an issue is spotted, just send it back to the vendor for a warranty replacement. Drive life varies, but you can get 5 years out of quality drives. If you're getting 7 new drives now, stick with the same vendor now and as you add more later just to make it easier to manage. I use Seagate which also comes with an app that can fix common hard drive issues.

Natelanxon started following Windows 11 App Refusing to Load

Hi. I just installed Emby from the Windows 11 Store and it refuses to open. I checked Task Manager and after clicking the app, I briefly get one instance of Emby.Client.WinUI appearing but then disappearing after about 2 seconds and then nothing happens. I checked Windows Event Viewer logs for instances of a crash and can find nothing. What can I check to find something helpful in diagnosing this problem? This is my system: Edition Windows 11 Pro Version 25H2 Installed on 04/10/2025 OS build 26200.8655 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.315.0 Emby installed version is 2.315.2.0 Thanks

Emby Misidentifying movies even after giving correct IMDB id
milindmody replied to milindmody's topic in General/Windows
Thanks for asking about the metadata provider order — that pointed me in the right direction. I ran my server log through Claude to dig into it, and here's what it found (yes, TMDB is my primary/first metadata provider): TMDB was timing out on every single call during both sessions where I hit this issue. Every request to TMDB — both name search and direct IMDb-ID lookup — hung for exactly 20 seconds and then failed with a connection timeout. This happened consistently, not as a one-off, across both attempts. Because TMDB never responded, the only provider that actually ran during the real metadata refresh/apply step was TheTVDB (OMDb only got queried once during the initial search preview, not during the actual write). Right after applying the correct IMDb ID, the log shows TheTVDB being queried and the item coming back mislabeled as a completely different movie — every time, even though the ID I applied was correct. This happened on my first attempt, again after a second correction attempt, and a third time later the same day. So the Identify dialog shows the correct match (built while TMDB/OMDb search results were still coming through), but the actual metadata write afterward falls through to TheTVDB since TMDB is unreachable, and TheTVDB resolves the title incorrectly, silently overwriting the correct selection. Claude's takeaway: this looks like two compounding issues — TMDB connectivity timing out on my end (server/network issue, not necessarily an Emby bug), and TheTVDB producing a bad match for this title when it becomes the fallback. Going to check my TMDB connectivity and consider whether TheTVDB should be enabled for my movies library at all. Thanks for all the help. I know what to do. -

Post server log after doing that. How to Report a Problem Edit: What are your library enabled meta-downloaders and in what order? -
It's mostly the same. Maybe minor difference in favor of the TV app, but just maybe. But what I clearly see is the difference in cover art quality in favor of the TV app. You can see for yourself that on one of them you can see some details and on the other everything is blurry.
