[Beta] ROMote – play your retro game collection in the browser (NES → PlayStation)
GrimEvil replied to digitalirony's topic in Plugins
am currently having an issues with my setup, so I have an external domain that only works outside my network configured in Emby, but the problem is that when I run any ROM it works fine externally as it uses the domain but internally it also tries to use the domain so it does not work for internal hosting it should pickup my ip address, but it does not, if that makes sense - Today

umzt8ymbe started following cannot get backup plug in to work
-
@LukeI am using the most current Beta Emby thinking that would solve it. but I cannot get back up to work. System Environment Unraid 7.3.2 Docker 29.5.3 Emby Server: 4.10.0.20 (Docker image: emby/embyserver:4.10.0.20-amd64) Network: Container shares Gluetun VPN namespace (--network=container:gluetun) Config path: /mnt/cache/appdata/emby/config → /config inside container Media path: /mnt/user/media → /media inside container Emby runs as: root inside container (PUID=100, PGID=100) MBBackup Plugin Version: 1.8.3.0 Installed via: Emby plugin catalog Backup directory configured: /media/zEmbybackup Problem MBBackup plugin fails to create backups after initial success. First three backups worked (12:55, 13:09, 13:09 on July 24 2026). After manual MBBackup.xml config was created and Emby restarted, backups fail with permission denied error. Plugin was subsequently removed for clean reinstall. Reinstall via Emby plugin catalog times out (mb3admin.com unreachable through Gluetun VPN tunnel). Exact Error Message Backup Failed on ZEUS-NAS — 7/24/26, 1:29 PM Access to the path '/media/zEmbybackup/embyserver-backup-full/data/library.db' is denied. at Interop.ThrowExceptionForIoErrino(...) at System.IO.FileSystem.CopyFile(String sourceFullPath, String destFullPath, Boolean overwrite) at Emby.Server.Implementations.IO.ManagedFileSystem.CopyFile(String source, String target, Boolean overwrite) at Emby.Server.Implementations.ApplicationHost.BackupDatabases(String destinationFolder) at MBBackup.ServerEntryPoint.ExecuteBackupInternal(PluginConfiguration configuration, CancellationToken cancellationToken, IProgress progress) at MBBackup.ServerEntryPoint.ExecuteBackup(PluginConfiguration configuration, CancellationToken cancellationToken, IProgress progress) Key Observations 1. Plugin successfully created 3 backup folders before failing: - "Emby Server Databases - 2026-07-24 12.55.6/" - "Emby Server Databases - 2026-07-24 13.9.26/" - "Emby Server Databases - 2026-07-24 13.9.29/" 2. Each successful backup contained real data: - library.db (229MB) - authentication.db (471KB) - activitylog.db (3.5MB) - users.db (57KB) 3. After manual MBBackup.xml was created, backup attempts tried to write INSIDE the existing "embyserver-backup-full" subfolder instead of creating a new timestamped folder, causing permission denied. 4. MBBackup.dll and MBBackup.xml were deleted for clean reinstall. 5. Plugin catalog (mb3admin.com) is unreachable from behind Gluetun VPN. Backup Directory Permissions drwxr-xr-x 1 daemon daemon /mnt/user/media/zEmbybackup/ Owner: daemon:daemon Contents include old backups from July 11 (embyserver-backup-full/) and the 3 successful backups from today. What We Need Help With 1. Why does MBBackup try to write inside an existing subfolder instead of creating a new timestamped folder? 2. How to properly configure MBBackup on Emby 4.10.0.20 running inside a Docker container behind a VPN namespace? 3. How to install MBBackup when plugin catalog is unreachable? 4. What is the correct MBBackup.xml schema for v1.8.3.0?

Of course, just as I go to recheck, the scroll bar decided to show up... Not sure what glitch that was, but it's there and I can use it now.

remote connection doesnt work, seems a common issue!

Imma look into my crystal ball that is placed in my pram along the yellow brick road and completely 100% guess what your network infrastructure looks like. Give me a minute. Ok, maybe two minutes.... It's a common issue it seems. It only works for the 100's or 1000's of people that may use EMBY. It ONLY works for alot of people. These generalized statements are soliciting a visceral reaction from me. -
There is a bug in version 2.3.8 with .ass files
visproduction replied to MediaEmby1968's topic in Samsung Smart TV
Latest log: line 339 Available from US server. Delayed and domain causes error in traceroute from VPN Switzerland. Does th .ass file include any special request for font or other custom details from mb3admin.com? If so, then this .ass file may fail when used on a server outside of North America. This could be caused by some setting of the domain owner at their host to limit traffic from overseas. What commands do the .ass files have in their headers? -
I can access the NAS remotely using EZConbect but Emby shows as "not supporting relay conbections" if I try to.open it from ADM. If I try the new port (I changed it) on my WAN address I just get the same old "Can't reach this page" error (connection_refused) ... And now I can't connect to NAS2 remotely. So that made things worse.
-
I spoke too soon: we cannot connect to Emby today from any device, including the Mac we are running Emby on. Our current network setup is pointing to an external drive attached to the Mac. Both devices are powered on and running. We plan to get a dedicated server soon (like Synology) that can house our media and always be on. Would this be a better solution?
-
Ok it says I need an ASUSTOR ID which I don't know... So I created new and mistyped my email, which I now cannot edit. I get a warning that there are two NAS on my network using the same port (and so there are but at different IPs). I can change the ports one of them uses later. But meanwhile it says "certain port forwarding configurations were not successfully enabled." - but doesn't tell me which.
-
Thanks, I'll take a look. Meanwhile, for some reason when I changed port forwarding to point to NAS2, it connected to the second NAS remotely. Switching it back to point to NAS1, I can still access NAS2 remotely as if the port forward is still pointing to it (but the router shows the port forwarded to NAS1 even after rebooting the router - very strange indeed). Looking at Emby configuration for the two NAS shows it to be identical (apart from IP address, but I mean all the user and network remote settings). I shall look at "EZ router) tomorrow (my time) - or later tonight if I get a chance. Thanks again

remote connection doesnt work, seems a common issue!
Amything replied to Dad1607's topic in General/Windows
If you have plex working maybe it's just a question of opening/port forwarding the specific Emby ports? Ask AI about how to test if specific ports are open. -
Which may mean the ports are not open on the Nas. Open Settings on t main page of the nas. Go to manual connect. Choose EZ Router on the top of that menu. Check and see if the ports you want are open in the NAS firewall. If not, click on the "Self Define" button and create a rule to open those ports. Don't worry about the router ports, that only works if you use UPNP which is strongly discouraged for security reasons.

trying to work out the problem with remote connection to the server. internally, i can connect and view my media on any device. externally, i cannot connect, message = unable to reach .... (its the same picture i have found on every thread ive read with this issue) i thought maybe it was the VPN, i removed said vpn to test the theory, i can rule that out as i get same issue, i have tried with several devices, so i can again rule out one device, i cant rule out the pc that i have emby setup on, though i have plex and have no issue remotely with that. short of throwing my toys out the pram and uninstalling, does anyone have any idea? ive searched the web, but no answers.

[Beta] ROMote – play your retro game collection in the browser (NES → PlayStation)
digitalirony replied to digitalirony's topic in Plugins
I am glad you like it! I would love to have it work inside of the emby app, but unfortunately the emby app itself isn't open source, so I what I am able to do with the app is very limited. I am hoping the developers here will see the value in my plugin and maybe work with me to make it work in the app one day. But keep testing it and let me know what I can fix or add to make the experience better. And thanks again! -

@LukeWhile I am sure the Emby team is busy, it would be great to see this issue addressed. The last message I had from the Terramaster was that they had identified some "transcoding and video streaming compatibility issues" and were working closely with Emby to troubleshoot them. This causes me to wonder if the unresolved transcoding issues I had reported to Emby previously might also be addressed. Any update on progress would be appreciated.

Noobr started following Permissions for medai shares on Linux?

Hi, I was using Jellyfin and it has some issues. No offense to the Jellyfin devs. I am sure they're doing an awesome job considering Jellyfins popularity. However, Jellyfins addon/extension culture is REALLY messed up and disorganized and you can't find any REAL and CLEAR troubleshooting information on some of the plugins I wanted to use that were just messing up everything. New user for Emby. Fairly new for Linux (about 2yrs now) I have a NTFS formatted media drive I want IT to be the media drive for Emby on Linux I have mounted it in fstab, installed Emby Here is my fstab | # /etc/fstab: static file system information. # # Use 'blkid' to print the universally unique identifier for a device; this may # be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name devices that works even if # disks are added and removed. See fstab(5). # # <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass> UUID=5A63-0C29 /efi vfat fmask=0137,dmask=0027 0 2 UUID=4da47b34-3c7d-4740-992f-d01034c393c5 / ext4 noatime 0 1 UUID=bf62f847-7d2d-4d96-8778-105aeb2289c7 swap swap defaults 0 0 tmpfs /tmp tmpfs defaults,noatime,mode=1777 0 0 UUID="4A1CFAC97DF19F28" /mnt/Media ntfs uid=64522,gid=64522,dmask=022,fmask=133 noatime 0 0 #UUID="4A1CFAC97DF19F28" /mnt/Media ntfs defaults, noatime 0 0 #UUID="881e4150-2e3b-4eab-bace-62664c8c37e3" /mnt noatime 0 0 I would like to know the proper format to implement the proper permissions for emby (gid=64522) on the media drive. In my example above, do you think this will work? I just spent 3 days copying media fails over so I would rather NOT re-format the drive to ext (but I will if that means no issues will playback for all users in my home). Currently, I have a samba share on the media server to allow me to backup the main NTFS formatted media drive (attached to my personal desktop). I dod this because I also have a windows 2016 server file server and media server that runs if/when the Linux media server one gets borked and I have to fix it. I've been using Jellyfin and lots of "hardly any documentation to troubleshoot add-ons and extensions" and it gets messed up all the time purely through my own ignorance of the ext/add-on system and Jellyfins lack of control over it and documentation on most of it as Jelly provides hardly ANY useful add-ons and extensions and it looks like crap without them.SO, is what it is. I don't want to get down on the Jellyfin devs though, that is not my point here, I am 100% sure that my Jellyfin issues are due to my own ignorance and so Jellyfin is not for me. I started over with Jellyfin 5 times before saying <insert bad word here and add "it"> and purchasing Emby instead. SO, I'm done with Jellfin and am now here where I now have a professionally purchased media server that is NOT <insert bad word here> PLEX! My main goal with THIS thread is to get the proper permissions et on the NTFS media share so everyone in the house can use Emby clients to access the server OR to find out it cannot be done and reformat the media share drive to ext4 and start over again in order to accomplish that? I have two media share users my admin user (same as the samba share) ME my 1 user (same as the samba share) home is the username this is my smb.conf [Media] comment = Samba Share path = /mnt/Media/ valid users = ME home public = no writable = yes printable = no create mask = 0765 THANK YOU all for any help forthcoming.
