This thread has exceptionally detailed way to replicate the issue. Any mp3 will duplicate the issue reliably. Simply take any folder of mp3s with tagging and add it to a folder inside a music library and allow it to be indexed. Once this has completed and the items show up, open the mp3s in musicbrains or mp3tag or some tagger of your choice and change something like the AlbumArtist on one or all of the songs. Rescan the library to your hearts content. The metadata in the metadata manager will show as correct but the library itself will never update. In fact, you can even go in the metadata manager and manually change it and save it and on a rescan it will change it back to the old metadata. After this, simply rename the path of the files and rescan the library and everything will show up perfectly (as changed).

This shouldn't be happening. I would try on a fresh install. Maybe there's something happening with the installation that you're tinkering with.

You would think, but this does not work.

I did, but it only says it hides the "image" and "overview" for unwatched episodes. I can see that "overview" is the episode summary but I didn't realize that it prevented both episode thumbnail and chapter images. Once I get home I will post screen shots of my Movies library settings and fetcher settings.

I have a "Recorded Series" library, pointing at the folder where series recordings are placed (I tell Emby to separate series and movies). In that library I select the "Episodes" view and then "Date Added" as the sort order, which shows me by default all recorded episodes in reverse order (i.e. most recent first) - if you select the same sort again, the order is reversed. Does that work for you? Paul

@Luke Thanks for the clarification. I think the key distinction is that I'm not seeing the same behavior for channel additions and channel removals when using an HDHomeRun source. In my testing: Adding a channel to the HDHomeRun lineup works reasonably well. After synchronization, the new channel appears in Emby. Removing a channel from the HDHomeRun lineup is where things break down. The removed channel is left behind in Emby as a ghost channel, and if channel numbers are reused or shifted, it can create overlaps and guide mapping conflicts. What's interesting is that I don't see the same issue when using the exact same source as an M3U tuner. In that configuration, additions and removals stay in sync correctly. I also tested the same HDHomeRun lineup changes with Channels DVR. Using the identical HDHomeRun source, Channels DVR correctly detects both additions and removals and keeps its channel database synchronized without leaving behind stale entries. That leads me to believe the HDHomeRun lineup data itself is valid and that the issue may be specific to how Emby is reconciling HDHomeRun channel changes versus how it handles M3U-based tuners. The practical result is that after enough lineup changes, the HDHomeRun source can accumulate channels that no longer exist upstream, creating duplicate numbers, overlaps, and guide mapping issues. At that point, the only reliable cleanup method I've found is removing and re-adding the tuner. For comparison, Plex struggles even more with lineup changes because channel mappings often have to be rebuilt manually. Emby is already much closer to the ideal behavior; the remaining issue appears to be handling channel removals from the HDHomeRun lineup. If it would help, I can provide a reproducible test case showing: Initial lineup import. Channel removal upstream. Resulting ghost channel and overlap behavior in Emby. The same change tested against an M3U tuner. The same change tested against Channels DVR, where the lineup remains synchronized. That should make it easier to determine whether this is an HDHomeRun-specific edge case or an issue in the channel reconciliation logic.

I get that you are frustrated - we all have times like that! But "completely useless" is a bit hyperbolic here, isn't it? I seem to recall that you've also mentioned elsewhere that other people are still using your server OK. Paul

It was enabled. I don't remember turning it on but that was it. Why would turning on the spoiler setting cause the chapter images not to generate and the episode thumbnails to not work? I still have the issue of Movies always downloading the worst Posters.

Hi, if you update the embedded metadata and then run a library scan, then the changes will be reflected in Emby Server.
