    Unfortunately yes, most likely.
  7. OK we'll take a look at it. Thanks.
  8. Hi. Please be sure to include the ffmpeg log(s). The Roku is probably the only device remuxing.
  9. If you choose the subtitle you want prior to pressing play on the detail screen, when you come back to that detail screen the same subs are not still selected?

  13. TV Show Status Release Notes Version 2.5.15.0 The settings-page description no longer tells you to copy the badge script into dashboard-ui by hand. That could never work on its own — the plugin also has to add a <script> tag to index.html, which copying a file doesn't do. It now explains the real cause and points at the fix. Added a pointer to "Prepend status to show description" as the option that needs no file permissions at all. Version 2.5.14.0 Corrections to 2.5.13.0 The web folder is not read-only. 2.5.13.0 said Emby's dashboard-ui folder couldn't be written to on recent Emby images, and removed the chown advice on that basis. That was wrong. Checked properly on a UGREEN NAS running Emby in Docker: the filesystem is mounted read-write dashboard-ui is owned by root, mode 755 Emby runs as uid 1000 So it's an ownership problem, not a read-only mount — and the chown that 2.5.13.0 removed does work. It was confirmed on the same machine that had supposedly proved it impossible. The badge no longer depends on Trakt Air Dates. Because of that wrong diagnosis, the badge script was being served through the Trakt Air Dates listener. That listener was removed in Trakt Air Dates 7.0.0.0, which took the web badge with it. The badge is now delivered the original way — written into Emby's web folder — and the two plugins are no longer coupled. Changes Status box no longer reports "Active via the Trakt Air Dates listener"; it reports the route actually in use Status box now warns that an Emby app update replaces index.html and removes the script tag — this plugin puts it back on the next restart chown guidance restored, with the correct explanation The plugins/webinject/ copy is still written for anyone running an older Trakt Air Dates, but no longer counts towards the status If the web badge isn't showing Most installs need none of this — the plugin sorts itself out on startup. This is only for when it can't. Check the status box at the bottom of the settings page first. Green — hard-refresh your browser. Red — Emby can't write to its own web folder. Give it ownership, then restart Emby: Docker — give the user Emby runs as ownership of dashboard-ui: docker exec -u root <container> chown -R 1000:1000 /system/dashboard-ui (check the uid first with docker exec <container> ps -o user, comm | grep -i emby) Windows — grant Emby's service account full control of system\dashboard-ui Linux — give the user Emby runs as ownership of dashboard-ui: sudo chown -R emby:emby /usr/lib/emby-server/system/dashboard-ui macOS — give your own account ownership of dashboard-ui: sudo chown -R $(whoami) "/Applications/Server.app/Contents/dashboard-ui" Only needs doing once. Restarts are fine; an image update isn't, since that rebuilds the folder. Don't want to change permissions? Turn on Prepend status to show description — no file access, works on every client, text instead of a badge. Notes "Prepend status to show description" needs none of the above. It writes into Emby's own metadata, so every client shows it — web, Android, tvOS, iOS — and it survives Emby updates. It's off by default because it edits your real library metadata. The web badge is the part that needs file access. If your setup won't allow it, the description option gives you the same information as text. The badge only appears in a web browser. It can't be shown in the Android app, tvOS, iOS, Roku or any other native client, and that isn't something this plugin can fix. The badge works by adding a small script to Emby's web page; native apps don't load that page at all — Android, for instance, uses its own copy bundled inside the app, so nothing added server-side ever reaches it. Emby's image-enhancer route was investigated as an alternative and confirmed by Emby's own team to be a dead end: no client requests enhanced images and there's no server override. Prepend status to show description is what makes the status visible on those apps — text only, no icon and no colour. EmbyTVShowStatus.dll TVShowStatus-2.5.15.0-Release-Notes.pdf

    Music single / album question

I'm not sure if this addresses the original question of being able to identify albums vs singles, since there is no "track count' property we can display under each album.
  16. Hello, I have had a long time issue with incorrect/duplicate artist identification, they are most obvious in search results. The most common example is when searching for Kanye West: Clicking on the first artist will show a Lil Wayne biography, and will show a single track he is credited on: For that single track, here are the tags where "Lil Wayne" is credited on: However this single-track Lil Wayne page is completely different than the "actual" Lil Wayne page (that has 1000+ songs). This is revealed when I play "See You in My Nightmares" and click the Lil Wayne artist link, which takes me to his full page: Not sure what tags/credits are causing Emby to create a separate artist page/credit, but there are a lot of these instances.

    Emby Player

sorry for that I will need hand holding for a bit. Server is installed on the C drive. Server version 4.9.5.0 Windows 11 25H2 up to date as of 8-15-2026 Not sure what the client is? All media is on external hard drive (3) So far just going through the setup phase. No clients (I think)? No body connected to the server yet as I'm going through the setting up of libraries. Just trying to get the built in player to use closed captions without crashing. Please be patient as I don't know anything about Emby. Tried others but most were a pain to setup. Emby is been the easiest to work with till now.

Firefox transcodes when it can direct play

Ah, I get it now (with a little more experimentation). With transcoding disabled, it only plays one audio track, regardless of what I select. In this case, there is an AC3 track, then an Opus stereo track, and then an Opus commentary track. Regardless of what audio selection I make in Emby, it uses the Opus stereo track, I guess because that is the first compatible track. That actually works very well for my needs and potentially saves me from having to continue to generate stripped down WEBM files just for Firefox. Thanks!

Firefox transcodes when it can direct play

OK so for this video you're getting lucky with this particular file but normally when a file has multiple audio tracks, firefox will auto pick the first track listed, and if you select anything other than that, then the only way we can play that track is via transcoding.
