Atrium — a native tvOS app for your Emby server
vdatanet replied to vdatanet's topic in Third Party Apps
Stop — put the router down. Nothing on your side is wrong, and my two questions were both barking up the wrong tree. Sorry about that. Point by point, so you're not left wondering: the proxy-headers setting, the one entry in the IP filter, automatic port mapping, the static IP, the Pi-hole — none of them have anything to do with this. You can leave every one of them exactly as it is. There was never anything between the app and your server; the problem was inside my app the whole time. Your answer did help, though. You're on .30, and that's the version I had on the bench — so what I reproduced is what you were hitting, not something adjacent to it. Here's what was actually happening. The app reads your server's replies against a fixed list of the words it expects to see. When a reply contained a word that wasn't on that list, it didn't ignore that one field — it threw the whole reply away. Neither of your errors was a rejection or a permissions problem. Both were the app failing to read a perfectly good answer. That's also why your other apps were fine on the same server: they don't hold it to a word list the way mine did. Your libraries. If a single library on that server is of a type that wasn't on my list — audiobooks, games, anything unusual — the entire library list got discarded, and out came "Couldn't load your libraries". It made no difference which account you used, which is exactly what you reported: "this happens with other users as well". One library the app didn't recognise, and nobody on that server could get past that screen. And the youngest one. Your own sentence is what found this. If a child account has parental controls set to block unrated games, the word "Game" comes back inside the sign-in reply — and that wasn't on my list either. So the reply was thrown away and the app announced that your server had rejected the sign-in. It hadn't. And it's only that one account because it's the only one with that box ticked. Both are fixed the same way: the app no longer holds your server to a fixed vocabulary. Where the server is telling it something — a type, a label, a setting — it takes the word as given, and one it doesn't recognise is just a word it doesn't recognise, not a reason to bin the answer. I reproduced both of your errors here before fixing them, and both are gone. If you're ever curious you can go and look at which of your libraries isn't a plain Movies/TV/Music/Collections one — that'll be the culprit. But there's nothing you need to do, and nothing to change. Thank you for going to that much trouble, both in the first report and just now. The whole diagnosis came out of your description — the bit about it only being the youngest account is the single line that found the second bug. -
Hi, we don't actually just put or patch, but the rest are needed.

Atrium — a native tvOS app for your Emby server
arrbee99 replied to vdatanet's topic in Third Party Apps
Your questions...hmmmm Anything in-between. Well, there's no reverse proxy, I don't know what a sign-in portal is, don't know what a path prefix would be, I think the ports are standard 8096/8920. Under Networks, it seems more or less default, although... - I have one item under Remote IP Address Filter, which I guess doesn't matter, the Apple TV is very local to the server. - I have Read Proxy Headers To Determine Client IP Addresses set to Yes - not sure if thats right, says is for when using reverse proxy, which I'm not. Maybe it got changed years ago and never changer back ? OTOH I have ordinary Emby and Moonfin on the Apple TV and they seem fine with the new account I set up for me I mentioned earlier. - Enable Automatic Port Mapping is not enabled - no idea if that matters. On my router I think I set the Apple TV to a static IP, and there are probably other things as well I've tried over the years to try to improve security, but I generally have no idea what to do with that kind of stuff except follow step by step guides. Also have a RPi with Pi-Hole. Again I just follow step by step stuff and Apple TV and Shield (on same local network) seem to be fine. So anything I should check needs to be pretty specific if you would be so kind. What server. The latest beta .30. Seems fine with other apps / devices. -

I was looking at my Caddy reverse proxy logs and see Emby is handing out a large amount of response headers. If I'm misunderstand the logging, please tell me. My main question is, are all of these methods necessary for media playback and picture upload? : "Access-Control-Allow-Methods": [ "GET, POST, PUT, DELETE, PATCH, OPTIONS" ] Can I remove some of those methods? What I really don't like about this is that all of this stuff is handed out even for 404's, like when the public is scanning and fishing for services! the whole thing: "resp_headers": { "Via": [ "1.1 Caddy" ], "Strict-Transport-Security": [ "max-age=31536000" ], "Content-Type": [ "text/plain" ], "Access-Control-Allow-Methods": [ "GET, POST, PUT, DELETE, PATCH, OPTIONS" ], "Cross-Origin-Resource-Policy": [ "cross-origin" ], "Private-Network-Access-Name": [ "server name that emby doesn't like" ], "Server": [ "UPnP/1.0 DLNADOC/1.50" ], "Content-Length": [ "39" ], "Access-Control-Allow-Origin": [ "*" ], "Date": [ "Mon, 31 Aug 2026 14:01:56 GMT" ], "Access-Control-Allow-Headers": [ "Accept, Accept-Language, Authorization, Cache-Control, Content-Disposition, Content-Encoding, Content-Language, Content-Length, Content-MD5, Content-Range, Content-Type, Date, Host, If-Match, If-Modified-Since, If-None-Match, If-Unmodified-Since, Origin, OriginToken, Pragma, Range, Slug, Transfer-Encoding, Want-Digest, X-MediaBrowser-Token, X-Emby-Token, X-Emby-Client, X-Emby-Client-Version, X-Emby-Device-Id, X-Emby-Device-Name, X-Emby-Authorization" ], "Access-Control-Allow-Private-Network": [ "true" ], "Private-Network-Access-Id": [ "8yuizxfe9a604c159a4dbd55fad7bjku" ] }

Hi there, I have a Google 4k streamer device, it’s not my main device but I’ve tested plenty on it before so I’d be surprised if it can’t play a 1080p rip. What’s the bitrate of the file and I’m assuming you’re on Ethernet and not using WiFi? I’ll try and find something similar and test it tomorrow.

[Help] Official Emby Theater RPi4 Image on Armbian: Choppy H.264, Missing v4l2m2m, Invisible Playback Overlay
softworkz replied to Modify3453's topic in Linux & Raspberry Pi
Did you know that the only hw acceleration that the RPi5 provides is an HEVC decoder. No more - end of story... And of course it once again changes the API for accessing that decoder... This means: We have nothing for the RPi 5 and I wouldn't recommend it as a video player. Regarding RPI 4, we're going to have something soon, even though its hw acceleration support is limited as well and probably any half-broken not-too-old Android phone (like with display damage but hdmi adapter) makes a better playback device for Emby than an RPi. We're rolling out a new FFmpeg everywhere, but it will come to the server first, then to Windows + Linux apps with the current MPV version and shortly after with a new MPV version including RPi4 HWA support. -
@Luke@softworkzI am playing with the ListenBrainz trying to get a Dashboard object in the JS file configPage.js Any calls to Dashboard here, fails with Dashboard undefined Just modifying the onResume function to View.prototype.onResume = function (options) { BaseView.prototype.onResume.apply(this, arguments); console.log("onResume", Dashboard); if (options.refresh) { loading.show(); var view = this.view; var form = view.querySelector("form"); var instance = this; loadConfiguration(instance.params.userId, form); } }; should work, but it says undefined when running Thoughts?

I am not really sure exactly when it happened. I believe It was sometime in the last week. -
Working on a new version. So far I fixed it so the user count actually works and that the library with the storm file gets scanned when a new file is added so it will show up instant. Still working on but other stuff before new version of our. It should improve things a fair bit.

Atrium — a native tvOS app for your Emby server
vdatanet replied to vdatanet's topic in Third Party Apps
Thank you for writing this up in that much detail — there are three separate things in there, and one of them is mine getting in the way of the other two. "Couldn't load your libraries" isn't a sign-in failure. You were signed in by then. That message comes from the very next call, the one that asks the server which libraries the account can see. So the account and the password side of it was fine; something about that one request wasn't. The jump to "Who's watching?" is the same failure. When that request comes back saying the session isn't authorised, the app assumes the token has died, drops the account and goes back to the account chooser — which is what you saw. It's a reasonable thing to do when a token really has expired, and a terrible thing to do to someone who has just signed in for the first time. And then you were stuck there. To be straight with you about the back button: on the account chooser there is nothing behind it — that screen is the app's front door once it remembers an account — so back won't take you anywhere there, and that part isn't going to change. What was genuinely broken is everything around it. You'd been dumped on that screen with no explanation, and the only way onward, "Add User", went one way only: once you were on the sign-in screen there was no route back to the account list. Both of those are fixed — the sign-in screen has a way back now, and if picking an account fails it tells you why instead of quietly returning you to the same screen. About that small line with the error number: ignore it, it was meaningless. It wasn't an HTTP code, it was an internal counter, and it named something it had no business naming. That's my bug, and it's the reason I can't tell you what your server actually replied. It now shows the real HTTP status. So I have to ask you for two things when you have a moment. First — is there anything sitting between the app and Emby? A reverse proxy, a sign-in portal, a path prefix, a non-standard port. I ask because there is one setup I can reproduce that produces exactly your two messages at once: if something in front of the server answers with its own page instead of Emby's reply, the app can't read it, and that came out as "rejected the sign-in" on one screen and "couldn't load your libraries" on the other. It's a guess until you tell me, but it's the only thing I've found that fits both. Second — which Emby server version are you on? I've spent the evening trying to reproduce this and haven't managed it: 4.9.5.0 and 4.10.0.30, with a non-admin account with no password, and with a non-admin account with no password and no access to any library at all. Signing in, loading the libraries and the home rows all came back clean every time. So the version is a long shot rather than a hunch, but it's worth ruling out. And once there's a build with the real status code in it, if you'd retry and tell me the number on that small line, that will most likely settle it in one go. Sorry it wasted your evening. This is exactly the kind of thing that never happens on the machines I can test on. -

The reason why this doesn't exist for the Plugin UI is that it gives you something much better: You can update any part of the UI at any time from the server-side. There is just no practical use case for showing a toast message. Showing toast messages is about showing a message to a user at any point in time and no matter what the user is currently viewing. A plugin which wants to show a message to the user must always go through the session mechanism. I see no point in showing a toast that is specific to a certain plugin configuration page (other than "Settings saved" maybe). Which case is yours about?

I have playlists for both music and video. I only want to have video playlists in my Kodi + Emby for Kodi NextGen setup. Embys playlist library contains both. I see playlist listed when I go to movies in the web interface. Is there any way to get to them using Emby for Kodi NextGen? I have a lot of playlists in audio and it seems to want to crash when I attempt to sync the playlist library in Kodi using this addon. Which is fine because I dont want the audio ones anyway. the unfortunate thing is that when I select the playlist using android audio the video ones are there and it looks quite messy. I guess this is probably an Emby limitation. In the end I was trying to setup a demo library with playlist for all of the demo files for a given movie but I haven't found a way. Thanks

I have around 11 different collections that I made and a few collections had 50 - 100 movies or TV shows and now all of them have most of the movies missing. Most of the movies I had searched for and added to collections and some I have found in the latest Remux 4k movies, latest movies, etc. Why would a back up fail? I just received this message? Emby Server Backup Failed on Brothers of the Phin 9/1/26, 5:48 PM I have spent many hours building my library. Is there any way to recover them?

RPi4 or 5? -
something occurred to me that I wanted to add on this thread: on adding an 'About' section for movies (or any other types) it could certainly be a section at the bottom of the page like other Emby clients, but if a button were added that could jump to the About page, it could be pretty much a text dump of file specs. It doesn't have to be a nice, pretty formatted section. I've seen some Plex and Jelllyfin apps take this approach and I think that works fine. So if an option like that were easier to code, it would definitely still cover my needs just fine. Thanks.

While we wait for the option to disable this ugly change, I've managed to bring back the previous UI at least on the web client using this custom css in settings: .cardFolderVisual, .cardFolderVisualTop, .cardFolderVisualMain, .cardFolderVisual-top, .cardFolderVisual-main { display: none !important; } .cardContent-folder { width: 100% !important; height: 100% !important; margin: 0 !important; font-size: 100% !important; } .cardContent-folder .cardImage { width: 100% !important; height: 100% !important; top: 0 !important; right: 0 !important; bottom: 0 !important; left: 0 !important; inset: 0 !important; inset-inline: 0 !important; object-fit: cover !important; } .cardContent-folder.cardContent-emptyfolder { box-sizing: border-box !important; padding: 0 !important; } .cardContent-folder.defaultCardBackground { background-image: none !important; background-color: hsla( var(--card-background-hue), var(--card-background-saturation), var(--card-background-lightness), var(--card-background-alpha) ) !important; } .cardContent-folder::before { content: "\e2c7"; position: absolute; top: .38em; inset-inline-start: .38em; z-index: 2; color: rgba(255,255,255,.9); font-family: "Material Symbols Rounded"; font-size: 1.55em; line-height: 1; font-variation-settings: "FILL" 0, "wght" 400, "GRAD" 0, "opsz" 24; pointer-events: none; } .cardContent-folder.cardContent-emptyfolder .cardImageIcon { font-size: 4em !important; }

Thought it might be interesting to try, but I can't even log in. I tried adding a new user for me (non-admin) with no password and I get "Couldn't load you Libraries". This happens with other users as well, though the the youngest (very young), gets "The server rejected the sign in" and Error 2...something and a Jellyfin api error 0. Another gets to the enter password, which I don't know, so... OK, now I've thought to delete it and re-add and I get further - I clicked on my name from the user list and it went straight to Who's Watching - why would it do that ?
