Its just a generic playback error on the app end. The issue is related to the transcoding and the other apps may not be doing that. Please provide the server log and all the ffmpeg logs that correspond with that failed playback. Thanks.

Emby 4.8 to 4.9 upgrade - needed to set "legacy" folder scanning mode
ganglepin replied to ganglepin's topic in General/Windows
Thanks for the reply, but won't all of us who are affected by this bug end up in the same situation when the "Legacy" scanning option eventually gets removed? Or are there no plans to remove it? This isn't a one-time breakage upon upgrade or schema migration. It will break all existing entries whenever the library is scanned, if "Default" scanning mode is set. -

Thank you for the information, hopefully that that improvement is on the roadmap.

Hi, are you still having an issue with this?
-
Hi, have you tried it?

Because that results in hammering the metadata providers with huge numbers of requests and they have asked us not to do this. That is why it’s on demand. That and I promise you wouldn’t like the library scan time that would come with that.

Caddy is a lot simpler so you don't have to mess with most of that. Just use the example Caddy files that are posted out here.
-
Yes and I recommend using Caddy as it is dead-simple. Connect or not your domain is the same - whatever domain you have created/obtained. Think of Connect as nothing but a dynamic DNS service. It just maps a forum account to a local server one.
-
Hi, yes genres have always worked this way.
-
Hi, yes you can. Lots of users here use caddy. I would suggest comparing your reverse proxy config to this: The guide is written for nginx but most reverse proxies have similar options.

TV-Show, Episode is divided into 2 files
Luke replied to Kickaha0268's topic in Android TV / Fire TV
I probably wouldn’t suggest doing it that way. It won’t automatically transition that way either. -

Emby 4.8 to 4.9 upgrade - needed to set "legacy" folder scanning mode
Luke replied to ganglepin's topic in General/Windows
Hi, the reason for the folder layer is to help make the folder view more accurate. Yes you might be right that we could have auto detected if it was needed, but at this point the vast majority of 4.8 to 4.9 updates have been done so we probably won’t revisit it. Apologies for the disruption. -
Exactly what did you do? Did you complete the last step which was to save in the plugin page?
-
It will auto change when browsing the user interface , but not currently during playback. That’s an area that needs improving

Emby server is deleting downloaded files immediately after transferring them.
mintman72 replied to mintman72's topic in General/Windows
It's located on the same physical drive, but in it's own separate folder. -
Hi. You are talking about the management interface, not the user one, correct?

Emby server is deleting downloaded files immediately after transferring them.
ebr replied to mintman72's topic in General/Windows
Hi. Be sure you haven't pointed your temporary paths to the same place that the actual content is (or above it and in the same scope). This is starting to sound like you've defined a custom temp/cache path that is also in the scope of your content or downloads. -
Display a poster of the current episode as the background for the TV show (just like on Android phone)
ebr replied to chuwz's topic in Feature Requests
Those are not "posters". What you want to achieve is already possibly by simply providing a backdrop for the episodes. - Today

That confirms the diagnosis - thanks for testing it. Deleting the JSON forced restore to read the NFO directly, and the NFO had the right data all along. That's obviously not something you should have to do by hand every time, so the actual fix is what we talked about above: restore will merge JSON and NFO together field by field instead of stopping at the first JSON match. Once that ships, you can put your JSON backups back and it'll pick whichever source actually has a value for each field (Intro/Credits independently), rather than an old or partial JSON blocking a more complete NFO. Will post here once that's out.

Been playing around with this on multiple devices tonight iPhone (iOS) - No issue so far. Everything looks clean and direct plays just fine. Shield - Like above no issues. LG TV - Only encountered the Top banner bug, aside from that seems ok. Apple TV 4k - UI is really nice BUT barely anything direct plays. Everything is transcoding when they direct play just fine in the native emby app. @bingbong69_are there any known issues where Apple TV is not direct playing?

ffmpeg remains post-playback, pegging a core at 100%
softworkz replied to Walter_Ego's topic in General/Windows
Thanks a lot for the sample file and the command. I was able to reproduce it with the current FFmpeg - even though it was still reacting to input - i.e. pressing q caused it to exit (tested on Windows) The new FFmpeg (8.x based) doesn't expose this I was a bit confused because stock ffmppeg doesn't have this behavior (because they have no subtitle filtering), so I wanted dto be sure. Thanks a lot for reporting! -
I have had a server for a few years and I have never seen it auto-change, even after a long period of time. I just thought it was the nature of the beast when moving from wi-fi to cell data, but then I got Spotify and that changes seamlessly, and yesterday, I set up a audio book service on the same server and the iOS app for that has a setting to auto fall back to local IP when the domain is not available (I don't have an option for a "hairpin" loopback on my router)
