UPDATE. This evening I moved a 3 Gb file from the Seagate HDD onto the iMac desktop thus eliminating the Seagate and it's USB connection from the issue. The stream played from the iMac for approximately 1 hour 38 mins before buffering at approx 20:18 local time. In this instance I immediately rewound the stream for 10 seconds and playback continued uninterrupted. embyserver 24 Aug.txt

Feature Request: HEVC (H.265) Transcoding
franta.hanak replied to franta.hanak's topic in Apple iOS / macOS
I’m aware of the server transcoding setting, but I would really appreciate having this option available in the mobile app as well. When using the browser/PWA, I lose features such as proper audio support and picture-in-picture, which makes it less practical as a daily solution. Thanks for the clarification and for considering it. -
Hi, in server transcoding settings you can enable this. It is currently limited to the web app and android.

franta.hanak started following Feature Request: HEVC (H.265) Transcoding
-
I’d love to see an option to transcode video to HEVC (H.265) instead of only H.264. Modern web browsers can already play HEVC streams without any issues, but the mobile app always transcodes to H.264 when transcoding is required. HEVC would provide much better quality at the same bitrate or significantly reduce bandwidth usage, which is especially useful when streaming over mobile data. I’d also like to mention that playing HDR Dolby Vision content via Direct Play causes the device to become very hot. I tested this on an iPhone 17 Pro. Transcoding to HEVC could reduce the device’s workload while keeping bandwidth usage low. Please consider adding an option to choose the preferred transcoding codec (H.264 or HEVC). I think many users would appreciate this feature. Thank you!
-
Hi, most devices will struggle to play vc1 if they don't have hardware decoding for it. If this is the case for yours then you can use the settings in the app to force transcoding for vc1.
-
Well, if you can share the naming format, I'll try it and report back!
-
When I play videos using the VC1 codec, the image stutters, as you can see in the attached video. My Emby Android version is 3.5.37. (This is the only version that Amazon Fire offers for installation.) Previously, with a different Android version (I don't know which one), VC1 videos played fine. Is there an Emby Android version that might fix this problem? VC1 Video.mp4

Halliphax started following Backdrop Slideshow Duration Options
-
Hopefully relatively trivial to implement… I’ve configured ten backdrops to download for every TV and Movie in my library settings (variety is the spice of life and all that) but they’re rarely seen because it takes so long for backdrops to cycle when viewing an item. Ideally, this should be configurable in the library settings (or app settings?) so you can decide how often Emby will cycle through them i.e every 3, 5 or 10 seconds.

When will the user modifiable option for the audio bitrate be available? I will be so excited to have this feature!

Merge all movie folders into a single library

I'm not aware of any specific way to transfer data. In Emby, if you select the options (not default) to store metadata and images alongside the media, a new Emby install can pick them up, but without nfo and image files it will always go out to the metadata providers. Maybe if Plex can arrange its metadata that way you might get somewhere? Note that as Plex and Emby are differently coded, not all media filename formats recognised by one will necessarily be parsed correctly by the other. If your filenames fall outside Emby's specifications, the results may not be so good, even if Plex happens to handle them. https://emby.media/support/articles/Movie-Naming.html https://emby.media/support/articles/TV-Naming.html Paul -
hx3_f started following Live TV catchup feature
-
Definitely my number 1 feature request for Emby! In particular the Xtream Tuner Plugin that @grizlyadams mentioned has greatly improved the live TV experience, and adding catchup would be an excellent further improvement.

Hi, albums and artists are currently shared objects across the entire server, so that's why this happens. This is something we plan to revisit though in future updates.

Folder images missing in Emby Theater (3.0.20/21 Legacy)
Mahinepua replied to scottpro's topic in Windows & Xbox
I started seeing it on the latest windows beta a few days ago. -
Ignore this one, I got the cause wrong here and folded the corrected version into my post above. Short version: it is the separate "Settings theme" dropdown, not the main Theme.
-
Both the TV and the iMac are on WiFi, the same network at 5 GHz.
-
I am working on a couple of plugins for this. A chrome plugin, that on Rotten Tomatoes, imdb, themoviedb, and the tvdb, you can send a request via email to me, so I can find the media. A complimentary plugin to the first, for the server owner, that on the same sites can search for the current movie/TV show, on a website setup by the server admin. Im working on getting this working with an executable (such as keepstreams) to get the media. An emby plugin, that will allow the user to request a missing episode which I am trying to tie into the current missing episode flow I would love to be able to have an emby plugin that showed all collections a movie was part of. Showing a ton more collections and movies that are missing. Then I would extend the emby plugin for missing episodes to missing movies. I already have a desktop application that will query an emby server and it then searches for the episodes. If anyone is interested in it, let me know
-
Yes, which is exactly what's preventing myself from downgrading, because the database changes typically require a clean install. You can try a dirty install of an older version (after you've backup up your system folder), but do so at your own risk with no guarantees.
-
Follow up - I checked the stable image so nobody has to guess. 4.9.5.0 has both of the same bits: the bubble is still built as "sliderBubble dialog", and the thumbnail is still set inline with getBubbleElement().style.backgroundImage. So it isn't something new in 4.10, stable is affected the same way. On the .infoBanner one, I had the cause wrong earlier and want to correct it properly. It is nothing to do with the main Theme setting. Emby's Display settings have a second dropdown called "Settings theme" which is separate from "Theme", and out of the box it defaults to Light while the main Theme defaults to Dark. The dashboard and settings pages follow that second dropdown, which is why you can be on a dark setup and still get a near-white info banner in there. So it only affects people still on the default Settings theme, not everyone. And setting "Settings theme" to Dark or Black fixes the contrast on its own with no CSS at all, so it may not be worth changing anything in the theme for it. Your call. The seek thumbnail one above is the one I would actually bother with.
-
Hi, it might actually work now but we haven’t thoroughly tested and documented it. We still recommend joining the files.
-
Hi, is the TV wired or on WiFi?
-
TBH I have never tried, since I had issues earlier. And just decided to not try again, and combined all episodes with multi parts. After that I never looked back.

Folder images missing in Emby Theater (3.0.20/21 Legacy)
softworkz replied to scottpro's topic in Windows & Xbox
Alright, thanks, then I just misunderstood. -
Did you modify the service in any way? Using systemctl edit for example? This can only happen if our LD_LIBRARY_PATH is already present in the environment when systemd runs our launcher script.
