Hi, I have Emby set up at home so that 2 trailers play before every movie. On my server (Windows), this option is visible under Playback settings. However, on the Android/Fire TV version of Emby (Firestick 4K), I cannot find any setting to disable or change the “Play trailers before movies” feature. I need to know: Does the Android/Fire TV Emby app support disabling trailers? If so, where is the setting located? If not, is this feature server‑side only and the Fire TV app simply follows whatever the server is configured to do? Right now, trailers always play before movies on the Firestick, and I want to turn them off. Thanks.

There have been numerous posts on embedded closed captions not appearing during HLS re-muxing to Android/AndroidTV clients when pulling from HDHomerun and other tuners. Note, these captions are embedded in the video stream and not sent as independent sidecar data (e.g. srt/webvtt). These embedded closed captions are present in the video files because once the OTA recording is complete they do appear on playback on Android/AndroidTV. On my system, the completed recording plays back directly (no HLS re-mux) so I started investigating if there was something in the HLS flow that could be impeding the captions. I found that Emby uses ffmpeg to segment the incoming live TS stream but ffmpeg is not being used to create a master m3u8 playlist; it is just creating a chunk(segment) list. Is the ffmpeg chunk list passed directly to exoplayer? Or does Emby create a master m3u8 playlist that references the chunk list on its own? Reading here: https://github.com/androidx/media/issues/1526 It appears that master HLS tags are required to get exoplayer to properly use the closed caption information and master tags can only be present in a master m3u8 playlist. If the tags don't work, then according to the github thread, you can force your implementation of exoplayer to disable chunkless preparation and the CC info can be found from the stream. Does Emby have a master m3u8 playlist that the correct tags could be inserted into? Have these tweaks been tried before? Yes, and scans are averaging 7-8 minutes again.

That seemed to do the trick! I moved out all the plugin dll files, restarted (it automatically reinstalled a handful of plugin dll files) ran the scan media files scheduled tasks manually a couple times. The scan times were way, way down. I then moved back my other dll files being careful not to replace the newly installed versions, ran a few more scans and times are back to what I would consider normal, around 6-8 minutes. Hi, try refreshing the metadata on one of those collections and see if that helps.

OK, my response was going to be that we wouldn't hard-code something like that. An option would always be possible, but then it begs the question, what happens when it leads to a playback failure. Do we keep going down that path or do we just tell you to set it back to default ...

Hi, I need clarification on how Emby reads subtitle language tags inside MKV/MP4 files. I’m seeing the following subtitle codes in my library: EN / ENG UK UKR RUS / RU I want to confirm what each one actually means. Specifically: Does UK mean English (United Kingdom) or Ukrainian? Does UKR always mean Ukrainian? Does RUS / RU always mean Russian? Would a file tagged by a torrent uploader as “UK” normally be interpreted by Emby as English? I’m trying to make sure my Ukrainian users see the correct language options, so I need an authoritative answer on how Emby interprets these tags. Thanks.

I know in some apps you can set playback to 4k-200 mbps or 1080-60 mbps and is should pick the one based on this but some apps like emby apple tv and android tv you can only set the max to 1000 mbps and not chose either 4k or 1080

I have this issue on the beta releases as well, and my database cache size was set to 96mb. I just set it back down to 64mb and will report back if I encounter a shutdown again.

Never mind, I answered my own question. For future travelers, it looks like Emby does not do any ffprobe scanning of STRM libraries. Playback startup is slower than with symlinks but at least it doesn't pound my indexer/Usenet servers randomly throughout the day.

I think it would appeal to more people if you could add some limits to it. Ability to specify certain folders - because a user may have access to both shared folders and their own personal folders and you may not want to grant the permission to everything like ebr mentioned ability to say only download missing metadata or refresh all metadata - because if they're the owner of a folder why not let them update it also It's kind of like giving users delete permission; you want to have the ability to limit the scope of it or not a whole lot of people would use it This way it would not only satisfy CBers needs, but also any others who want more control

Habe einen neuen Emby Server aufgesetzt und bemerkt, dass nach dem einlesen keine bilder und auch keine Infos mehr bei Sammlungen geladen wurden. In der normalen Film Bibliothek wurde alles geladen. Bei einer bereits bestehenden Sammlung, fällt das erst mal nicht auf, da hier ja schon alles geladen war. Das würde erst bei einer neu hinzugefügten Filmreihe bemerkt werden. Siehe Bilder...
