As a regular Roku user, I have noticed but not said anything. I gave it a chance, but much prefer the ability to set what area is presented first on each library.
-
Hell will freeze over before that happens. This might help -

Be careful what you wish for. With an increased user base come increased feature demands, more time the DEVs have to spend with the product away from real life with families. I also have a life time Plex pass and have uninstalled it from my Qnap NAS to never use it again because the users I share it with are not mine as Plex wants their details to access my server. I am happy with Emy's present state and consider myself part of an elite niche group.

Introducing Media Renamer Pro, a Mac app that renames media from the metadata inside the files
bkettering posted a topic in Third Party Apps
I run Emby at home, around 29TB across movies, TV, audiobooks and music, and I wrote this because my own library was the problem. Posting it here because this forum is where people actually understand why naming matters. Media Renamer Pro reads what is inside a file instead of parsing the filename. EXIF dates and camera model for photos, embedded tags for video and music, and online lookups for movies, TV, audiobooks and game ROMs. It builds a rename plan, shows you every row before anything moves, lets you edit any of them, and the whole batch undoes. Two things in it came straight out of breaking my own server. Renaming is two-phase. A single pass renames A to B while B is still sitting there waiting to become C, and one-at-a-time renaming quietly eats files in chains and swaps. Everything goes through temp names first. Subtitles follow their video. Rename a movie and the matching .srt goes with it, keeping language and forced tags intact, so pairing does not break. It is off by default, under Settings then Exclusions. It is 4.99 one time on the Mac App Store, no subscription and no account, and it runs on iPad and iPhone too. Nothing leaves the machine unless you turn on the online title lookups. Worth saying plainly: if you only have a couple hundred files, a shell script with exiftool does most of this for free and I am glad to help anyone write one. The app earns its keep at thousands of files, or when you want to see and undo what it is about to do. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/media-renamer-pro-batch-file/id6761764615 What I actually want from this thread is edge cases. If you have naming that no tool gets right, I would like to see it. - Today

Not sure why the updated 1.07b version states 'Unavailable' in my post above. The link downloads correctly on my computer. Just in case, here it is again. Emby Theme State Street Theater Sept 2026 v1.07b.css -
To be fair off all my home devices i have tested the Samsung TV app is the most stable and works perfect. But its part of the fun, the other platforms will get there in time the wrinkles will be ironed out on all platforms. Developers are doing an amazing job and keep pushing forward

Thanks. Makes sense now.

Q-Droid started following Subtitles After Convert

They're being extracted from the media during conversion. So if the source has embedded subtitles for 10 languages you're going to get that many more VTT files for subtitles. It's been this way for a long time.

I honestly don't know which subgroup this should go in. I've done a few (maybe 20) movie Conversions with no problems. Had to do some on a TV Series and noticed that each episode added abt 20 subtitle files. The library is set to English and the Open Subtitles box is unchecked. Still the subtitles keep coming but only after conversion. Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Romanian?, NL, NO, PL, PT, SK, SV, TR, ZH. Don't know if this is a new issue or it's always been that way????

Ok thanks for the responses. I typically use the Linux app on my personal TVs (gaming-pc's) & apple TVOS for my living-room, guest-room & family-room so those don't function this same way, but the garage uses roku which is a shared TV so for us this new feature is not liked and we would vote against it if given the option to choose methods. I also have 1 remote family member using Roku and she also mentioned this issue to me as well. She goes between Genres & Movies often but would prefer it to open in Genres as default personally for her. Thanks

Pressing play (on remote) during playback should show overlay UI
scottpro replied to Trunk's topic in Windows & Xbox
I've always used the Emby Theater legacy version (ET 3.0.21) and it never had a exclusive play only button, just the play/pause toggle. I just use the left/right arrow keys/buttons to seek/navigate which brings up the video OSD with the focus on the dot/cursor in the playback bar. -
I'd also like a grid season feature for all clients (Windows, Android, and iOS)

[Legacy App] Screensaver slideshow stops after displaying first image [ET 3.0.20/21]
scottpro replied to scottpro's topic in Windows & Xbox
With 26.0.23 the slideshow now cycles but the movie name and date are still missing. Is this by design? That was a big push, 165 files. -
Plugin: EmbyCredits, detect end credits and add auto skip.
sydlexius replied to yocker's topic in Plugins
I could swear a re-checked those values (I used to have 2 of my 4 libraries selected), but somehow they got blanked. So the bug report was a PEBCAK error, but it resetting was unexpected behavior. -

Ah, it's farther into the dialog tree, got it. That's what I'm talking about where it's not always clear. It's ask here, click around constantly and hope to find it, or wait for documentation updates. Thanks!

I just upgraded the samsung TV app version to 2.4.9 an tried playing Wolkig mit Aussicht auf Fleischbällchen again. Same error as before. During playback I switched languages (German --> Portugese --> English). Every time turkish kept being played. Log is attached. embyserver.txt

hi! are you planning to add archive support in this plugin? thanks!

Could the windows installer be called something more useful that setup.exe? The portable version is embyserver-win-x64-4.10.0.40.7z. Setup.exe just seems like a horrible idea. I would like to install a previous version of emby to troubleshoot some issues. Is there a location for older versions? Thanks!! Great software, I am a big fan!!

Hello! I'm on v4.10.0.40. I read the release notes, and I saw the mention about the "Spotlight" feature, so I went to check it out. The release notes say: So I went to my home screen layout, and went to add a new section, but I'm not seeing it in the drop down. I force reloaded the page to try and make sure I'm not getting a cached version, but I'm not seeing it in the type drop down. Am I in the wrong place? I searched the forums and the documentation and didn't find anything more in depth. It does seem like all though discovery of new things is possible through the release notes, it may not always be clear(as I am running into) how/where to get to a new feature? Thanks!

Emby Watch Party - Synchronized Viewing for Friends & Family
Oratorian replied to Oratorian's topic in Tools and Utilities
v3.0.0 and the past & future of Emby Watchparty Emby Watchparty started as a small project between friends in mid-2024, private, just for me and a few others. The first public release was on Oct 20, 2025, with the first push to GitHub. Since then EWP has grown a lot, thanks to the wonderful community here on Discord and on the Emby Forums. Development has continued as a solo project since the other two original contributors moved on. 1.x was a bumpy ride, but a very educational one. Multiple failed attempts at drift correction, limited by the 1.x single-transcode design, forced me to dig much deeper into Emby's API and transcoding pipeline. That investigation spawned `Emby quirks we learned the hard way.md`, which ultimately gave birth to EWP 2.0. (And yes, even the shorthand "EWP" was born in this community because it just stuck.) Then came dnordel(on Discord) , who revived this whole project and my passion for it.His massive PRs brought real value to EWP, not just in code quality but in functionality and UX/UI. His first PR was so large that a simple merge wasn't possible; it changed the way EWP works at its core, and it became 3.0. I'm grateful for that, because I'd hit a dead end with 2.x. `3.0.0 - Director's Cut`, currently at beta4, is a huge step up from 2.x. It turned EWP into something I could never have envisioned myself. So where does this leave us? Honestly, I'm still not sure. The plan is: 1.x retires by the end of this year, 2.x becomes legacy, and 3.0 becomes the main release. But I need time to think about when and, more importantly, how. So `3.0.0-beta4` will be the last release for now in 3.0.0 testing release. EWP has grown way bigger than I anticipated, and I need to sort things out before I continue. Thanks for being a part of this and for helping transform EWP into what it is today. -
This has been out for a while and very few people have even noticed. I really think that most people utilize one tab 90% of the time in the libraries so returning there works. We'll continue to monitor (knowing full well, the only people who will tell us anything will be the ones that don't like it).
