As an alternative, you could block all of the LG telemetry at the DNS level. The benefit here is that if you are using a PC, Firestick,Shield, or other device hooked to the TV and has the ability to access the internet, they won't allow the TV to use that connection. Thanx for your reply. I saw embycons being in the serverlog, but wasnt/isnt sure that its just a matter of Embycons. Ill do a server reboot ASAP and if that doesnt help ill do an uninstall with fresh reinstall. Thanx @yocker /N

I have no idea what went wrong here, the upload of EmbyIcons seems to have maybe gotten corrupted doing upload or on the server it self. I have removed all versions of EmbyIcons that is not the release version.

Hi, I had similar thoughts a while back when I initally started using Tags for music groupings, but then later changed a lot over to Collections. A couple of years on - and I think it was the right decision for me. I suppose at a general broad level, many fields within Emby can be used to group your own media however you like - Libraries, Folders, Collections, Playlists, Tags, Genres, Seasons, Album Artists... and more. So Tags and Collections can definitely be used for comparable purposes - Home Screen Section, or generally. However, there are some clear differences between the two (I think this is mostly correct): Collections can be used to import certain media info (e.g. for Movies) Tags can be used to import certain media info (e.g. for Songs) A Tag can be given to a Collection - a possible way of creating Master Collections Tags do not seem to be global across all media library types Collections do seem to be global across all media library types Multi-select works for bulk adding items to Collections Bulk editing of Tags is not possible (unless perhaps with community plugin for some media types???) It's easy to rename or delete a Collection A Tag cannot be renamed, it must be deleted and a new Tag assigned (unless through the API ???) Collections can group and ungroup items types on a Collection page and have a Sort Order choice. Collections have an Overview field. Collections do not appear in all Library top header menus There's probably even more differences between the two? When smart playlists etc. are built into Emby core, then there may be other ways to use Tags and Collections (separately and in combination) beyond what can be done now? I don't want to see Tags and Collections consolidated everywhere within Emby because I use them both for distinct purposes. Perhaps others do as well?

Je n'arrive pas à configurer l'application sur la Shield pour accéder à l'emplacement correct des fichiers vidéo stockés sur le NAS. J'ai téléchargé le fichier « emby-server-qnap_4.10.0.40_x86_64.qpkg » depuis votre site pour l'installer sur le NAS, mais lorsque j'essaie d'ouvrir l'application, j'obtiens l'écran affiché dans le fichier joint. L'adresse IP correspond à celle du NAS sur le réseau Ethernet auquel la Shield est également connectée. Faut-il installer un fichier spécifique sur la Shield ? J'ai également installé la version PC pour Windows 11 et je peux accéder au stockage du NAS et créer des bibliothèques sur mon PC sans problème. Je vous remercie d'avance pour votre aide. Ich habe neu die Serie: Serial Cleaner aus der ZDF Medithek. Emby Server erkennt diese aber wohl nicht, nicht mal als irgendeine falsche Serie. Ist die noch so unbekannt?? Any idea how I get Emby back online? Is there an EmbyIcons dll file to delete? Will that work to restore access?

It should create a log even though it shuts down. It doesn't matter though, i found out what was wrong in the last log. Again sorry about it.

Sorry to ask something so basic, but if I can't load Emby, how do I get a log?

The top-list is designed to handle many more items. In theory you could go unlimited, but the numbers for the poster can handle up 999 items. I have a few lists with "top 50" for example. In Emby, collection membership is stored on each individual item. A top-list entry is a separate .strm item in its own library. It is merged with the original movie as an alternate version, but merging doesn't copy collection membership. So Resident evil - retribution shows "Resident Evil" when opened from your movie library, but not when opened from the top-list. We could add the top-list copies to the same collections, but we it comes with a few downsides: Wrong poster in collections. Depending on the sort order, the collection would show the top-list copy with its rank-badge poster (a "7" on Resident evil - retribution) instead of the normal poster. Fragile. The plugin's own collection sync would need special exceptions, and the membership would have to be kept in sync as collections change. The only gain would be a missing info on the detail page. Playback works the same either way, and the collection is still available from the original movie. I'm gonna do this: I'm putting Claude on building this function to include top-list into collections. But it will be a setting (default off) to enable this so you could decide for your own if you are happy with the downside of this.

Hello @yocker, I think the problem was actually on my end. I had an Unraid plugin that stops all containers overnight for backups, sorry about that! That said, I had no issues at all last night.

Yes that is exactly what it does. Can you please provide a specific example? The server doesn't probe this information for strm files in case that is what they are.

Hi, yeah, these pesky Artists that change their names are a problem! Perhaps not a major one though? I think my worst 'offender' is Johnny Cougar - John Cougar - John Cougar Mellencamp - John Mellencamp. I ended up just calling him John Mellencamp everywhere and relying on the Album art to see the differences. I could always add original/alias Tags in Emby, or write something in the Overview text for each Album - but I've never bothered. Perhaps, for me, this is something like 10 Album Artists out of 2000+ at a rough guess. Not sure if I'm following exactly the whole scenario of what you are describing - wouldn't that group all the alias Person entities under the one common entry, based upon their MusicBrainz ID only, if it's present? (i.e. Album Artist / Artist / Composer). I know others have (similarly) asked for any easy "merge" option previously in old threads. My preference is that Emby splits on name-string Tags, as it does now, irrespective of a common MusicBrainz ID, because that suits my library organisation. I would hate to have an Emby algorithm making automatic assumptions that I may not want, because of my own specific tagging. While Emby has made some improvements with Artist / Composer separation, there are still instances where they are combined together. I don't want John Mellencamp (Artist - Performer) fully integrated with John Mellencamp (Composer - Writer) so tag them something like this "John Mellencamp" and "John Mellencamp" respectively. Different names - same MusicBrainz ID and link - separate pages/entries. So, combining by removing name aliases and splitting on Artist / Composer becomes my choice, via my tagging of the relevant fields... Everyone can presently make their own choices to suit themselves, where a defined Tag takes precedence over a MusicBrainz ID. I guess solution options could potentially be built into the library settings to cover automatic merging or no merging??? Anyway, that's just an example of where implementing a 'fix' for Person aliases could cause other issues elsewhere for different library setups, if a new default method was not optional? Unless I am misunderstanding exactly what you're describing? Cheers!

In my setup I run one on Windows and easy to change the port to 8097 os similar and the other on a Synology nas DS218+ however the performance from the Wibows machine knocks the nas for dead (Intel i7)

Emby had been working pretty well until the last update, after which more often than not I am greeted with the endless spinner. While my IPTV provider hasn't been perfect either, I've tested several items working in their native app, & VLC, but unavailable with Emby/STRM. Any guidance appreciated. embyserver.txt.zip

@Lukedo we have a timeline on pushing the current beta build to stable? In my testing the current beta build completely fixed this search issue. However the stable version as is now, is completely unusable in multi word search on numerous apps/clients including your own Emby app. So even a small push of the current beta to stable would be crazy helpful.
