  2. Can you show screenshots of the file system organization? Thanks.
  3. Guess I am just the odd man out, I gave mine away to my neice because I just wasn't impressed with it.

If you find this happens a lot then you may want to disable metadata fetching on the library and just have it populate from guide data only.
  5. I figured out the solution to two of my problems. 1. Go to the page where libraries are created. Click on the three-dot menu on the existing library. Click Remove. That keeps your files intact. 2. Create new library as content type "Home videos & photos". That prevents Emby from renaming folders and shows only what Windows shows. I have control over this app now!
  6. Hi, if you want to remove a library from Emby without deleting your files you should be able to do this from your library settings. Clciking the above Remove option gives a warning prompt and advises that your files will not be removed. As with all software applications/UIs there's a learning curve to finding your way around all the functions and options. Perhaps it's worth experimenting with small test libraries (and keeping backups) so you don't mess up your main media files. Cheers!

  8. Is there anyway to delete libraries without deleting all my files as in my first post? Using Emby is total frustration! Update: After googling, there is apparently no way to delete libraries in Emby without also deleting all your files.
  9. Another example of Emby's screwy behavior is a Windows folder named "Land of the Giants". Emby decided to call it "Scenes from DVD". What's worse I can't override that decision. Emby has a mind of its own.
  10. OK, so the "Delete All" didn't break it... it's just that it's taking days to repopulate But, the Dune thing... it's constantly trying to put Dune 1984 stuff into my Dune 2021.
  11. I’ve done some more testing since my original post because I wanted to understand where the limitation actually is instead of just assuming it was a server or plugin issue. What I’ve found is that the native apps already have the pieces needed to display this kind of content. For example, on an artist page the iOS app already creates native sections for Albums, Albums as Contributing Artist, Albums as Composer, Included In, More Like This, etc. The problem is that a server plugin doesn’t seem to have a way to tell the client, “Here’s another section and here are the Emby items that belong in it.” So I think even a very small generic extension point could be really useful. Something where a plugin could basically tell Emby: Section title: Singles & EPs Items: [list of existing Emby item IDs] Then the client would render it using the same native row it already uses everywhere else. The plugin wouldn’t be providing HTML, Javascript, CSS, or its own UI. Emby would still completely control how it looks and behaves on iOS, Android, TV, etc. For my music project, that would let my plugin provide things like: Singles & EPs Live Compilations Other Releases Missing Releases I already have the MusicBrainz classification side of that working, so the plugin already knows which releases belong in each section. The missing piece is just a way to hand those sections to the native client. The other generalized feature that I think would be useful is plugin-defined actions. The “report broken video/missing subtitles” example mentioned above is actually a perfect example of what I mean. A plugin could register something like Report Problem, and Emby could display that using its normal native button or More menu. Selecting it would just send the item ID and action back to the server plugin. My Request button would simply be another use of that same system. Emby wouldn’t have to know anything about the service behind it or maintain an integration with it. The plugin handles all of that. So rather than giving plugins the ability to create arbitrary client UI, I’m thinking of something much more limited: Plugin provides the data/action → Emby renders it using native UI → plugin handles the server-side logic. That seems like it could be useful for a lot more than what I’m doing, while still keeping the clients and UI completely under Emby’s control. I also confirmed that Home Sections aren’t quite the answer here. They work great for adding content to the Home screen, but they don’t provide a way to add another section inside an artist/item detail page. Would something along the lines of plugin-defined detail sections and plugin-defined detail actions be the kind of generalized functionality you were thinking about? If it would help, I can also post screenshots of what I have working in the Web client versus what the same artist currently looks like in the iOS app.
  12. I tend not to use Emby very much because it can be very difficult to use and by default tries to change metadata from the way I want it set. I don't want Emby to change anything. It won't save New Library settings, which people have asked about for years. That is a big pain because there are so many options I have to turn off. Before I sent this it turned out the folder with a mysterious name and only one file showing was actually the folder I wanted to show up but the name I gave the folder in Windows was much different. The name Emby gave the folder was "Star Trek Season". The name I gave it in Windows was "Star Trek TOS (30+)". When I deleted the Emby-named folder from the web interface, it took out all the files in the Windows folder I was trying to get to show up. Hours of work wasted because your software makes no sense to me in how it displays folders!!! I expect all folders and files in Emby to show exactly as Windows shows them. Is that even possible? Emby works against what I want to do, and that is frustrating.

Thanks. So we know it is not some background update on my Windows servers The problem didn't show up right after an Emby server update, so I'm wondering if some plugin updated to cause this, but there is no easy way that I know of to find software updates.
  14. Yes, Centos Stream 9. Retested hosted web app 26.0.33 and still same error.
  15. I am not closing the emby management tab when not in use. I will report back. At least the system is recovering and I don't get harassed by users. I am going to lower the emby page not responding check to 3 minutes. Seems when the memory issue happens, it blows from 12 to 16 and dies in the same 5 minutes.

    movie title has wrong actors

It's getting the title, overview, and poster from the TV guide listing, and everything else from the metadata sources. It's simply misidentified the film. Identify it correctly, replacing images, and it'll be fine. Happens to me semi-regularly.
  17. I remember reading that when setting up Emby (1 or 2 years ago). Didn't need it back then, so totally forgot about it. I guess that is what i need to do now in order to have things show up correctly. Nevertheless i stand with my suggestion. This is what it could look like: If this was already working as i described that would save me a lot of restucturing for the sake of autodetecting the content type. You can manually identify the content, so why not manually tell the system what to look for in a folder, when i'm already in that menu. I thought I had 3+5 examples already, but i guess i might as well go further into detail: Library "Anime" Mixed Contents /mnt/Anime I'm setting things up in the metadata manager: Issue A Case 1 /mnt/Anime/Blood C The folder in the file system contains 12 episodes and one movie 01 - *Title1*.mkv [...] 10 - Hunger [...] 12 - *Title12*.mkv The Last Dark.mkv The following is what shows up: 01 - *Title1* 02 - *Title2* 03 - *Title3* 04 - *Title4* 05 - *Title5* 06 - *Title6* 07 - *Title7* 08 - *Title8* 09 - *Title9* 11 - *Title11* 12 - *Title12* Hangar 10 Blood-C The Last Dark Fixed by renaming things to S0E1 - The Last Dark + S1E01-S1E12. Folder got correctly recognized as containing a series. Issue A Case 2 /mnt/Anime/Danmachi The folder in the file system contains 13 episodes and no movies 01 - *Title1*.mkv [...] 13 - *Title13*.mkv The following is what shows up: 01 - *Title1* 02 - *Title2* 03 - *Title3* 04 - *Title4* 05 - *Title5* 06 - *Title6* 07 - *Title7* 08 - *Title8* 09 - *Title9* 11 - *Title11* 12 - *Title12* 13 - *Title13* The Show is not recognized as a TV-Show, so movie folder rules apply. No episodes are recognized. Manual identification is not working, because TheTVDB movie id is expected. Putting the series id in the "The TVDB ID" field will give wrong results. Issue A Case 3 /mnt/Anime/Hunter X Hunter The folder in the file system contains 148 episodes and no movies (dindn't bother buying them) 001 - *Title1*.mkv [...] 028 - Nen Und Nen.mkv [...] 148 - *Title148*.mkv The following is what shows up: 001 - *Title1* 002 - *Title2* [...] 027 - *Title27* 029 - *Title29* [...] 148 - *Title148* Alt, neu, geliehen & blau So the folder got flagged as a movies folder, because Ep28 was falsely identified as some danish movie. Issue B Case 1: /mnt/Anime/Dororo Got identified as "El Dorado". There are 2 series named "Dororo" one dates to 1969 and one to 2019. Issue B Case 2: mnt/Anime/Attack on Titan Got identified as "Attack on Titan: Counter Rockets". Issue B Case 3: mnt/Anime/Made in Abyss Got identified as "Made in Abyss: Maruruk's Everday". Issue B Case 4: mnt/Anime/Gate Got identified as "Steins;Gate" That got me 2 versions of Steins;Gate for those episodes, and i was wondering where "Gate" had gone to. Issue B Case 4: mnt/Anime/Fire Force Got identified as "Strike Force Five" So, I don't know how exactly the identification works (what TheTVDB transmits to the Emby server), but I hope it's more than the #1 result of the search. Obviously wrong matches or close matches were preferred over exact matches, what should not happen imo. This is all fixable (each time) with some manual work, so I can live with it if i have to. Nevertheless if there was a more robust solution, that would get 90% less false identifications, i would happily take it. Ok, that took a while to put together... pressing the "back" thumb button on my mouse (to navigate folders, but doing it in the browser) halfway through and loosing everything didn't help. PS: Full screenshots of the settings for that library

  19. I've not seen this before where the recorded TV movie has the correct title match but wrong Cast & Crew for it. What can be made of this?

@Lessajwhat OS is Emby server installed on? Linux? @LukeAny ideas? We'd like to shuffle. I see this problem after updating my beta server to Version 4.11.0.5 beta.

For this log the stream started at playback position 00:01:54 (segment start number 38), meaning you was resuming playback roughly 2 minutes into the movie. It might be the log before that one
  22. Right the common complaint that we've seen over the years with folder view is that it's hard to tell what's a folder and what's a file. The icon in the upper left is not enough to quickly tell from a glance. So that was the thinking behind making the folders look more like what you would see in a file browser. But there are some users who don't like this so we'll be adding an option to control it.
  23. Zidoo is supposed to be grandiose.
  24. You can, and in mixed libraries you must. How? Movies: folder has movie name and date; movie is file within folder (I give it the same name and date, but that's not strictly necessary). Series: first folder has series name and date; within are season folders for each season (including specials aka season 0); files are in their season folders. In TV libraries you can get away with putting the files of all the seasons in one folder, but you can't get away with that in mixed libraries. This way Emby can see (from the presence or absence of season folders) whether the folder contains a movie or a series. This is all laid out in the file naming guidance provided in the Emby Wiki. https://emby.media/support/articles/TV-Naming.html (this has the statement that season folders are required in mixed libraries). Mind you, I don't use a mixed library for anime with movies, such as DanMachi - I label the movies as specials, and if they should be in a particular position in the show, they will appear there (if they don't, then add the required position to the metadata, and maybe update TVDB with it as well!). Anime which consists of just movies (e.g. the Evangelion "rebuild" films, or Fate/stay night - Heaven's Feel) go in the anime movie library, in a collection. Paul

Emby for Android TV killed EAC3 and video freezes at 90%

I was about to ask how is this issue going, I am experiencing it on a different unit (NanoPi R6C) with Android 12. Each episode of Stuart fails to save the Universe freezes at about 90%.
