Thanks for the update, Luke. I ended up creating a custom plugin for myself called PreshowManager. It was a pain in the rear to get working, but after about 4-5 months of using it, I am absolutely loving it. I just hope the upcoming release of the (now beta) new server does not break it! Should I be worried? lol It supports local preshow videos, local, and internet trailers, genre-based trailer selection, and separate preshow setups for Movies and TV Shows. Features Random Trailers Random Trailers mode plays a configurable number of trailers before the selected Movie or TV episode. It supports: Local trailers from your Emby libraries Internet trailers from TMDb/YouTube Mixed or Library Specific trailer selection Separate trailer counts for Movies and TV Shows Excluding trailers for the Movie or TV series currently being played Collection/franchise filtering Internet trailers playing before local trailers when both are selected Trailer selection remains random across the available pool. Genre Trailers Genre Trailers mode selects trailers based on the genre of the Movie or TV Show being played. Movies and TV Shows have separate settings, including: Local trailer support Internet trailer support Trailer count Genre linking rules The genre linking system lets you decide which trailer genres can be used for each content genre. For example, a Horror movie could be configured to use trailers from: Horror Science Fiction Thriller Each genre can have its own combination. Preshow Mode Preshow Mode lets you build the preshow sequence manually. Movies and TV Shows each have their own set of 15 slots. Each slot can be assigned a preshow element or left unassigned. Slots are processed in the order they appear. Example: Slot 1 - Internet Trailer Slot 2 - Local Trailer Slot 3 - Local Preshow Video Slot 4 - Local Preshow Video Slot 5 - Genre Trailer Slot 6 - Unassigned Movie and TV slot lists are completely separate, so each can have its own preshow setup. Local Preshow Videos Local preshow videos can be used for things like: Coming Soon bumpers Feature Presentation videos Theater intros Countdown videos Studio-style presentation clips Custom preshow material A default folder can be configured and scanned for available videos. Individual slots can also use a different folder when needed. Internet Trailers Internet trailers are pulled from TMDb and use YouTube for playback. PreshowManager caches and indexes the trailer information so Emby can play the trailers through its normal intro playback system. Internet trailers are kept separate from local trailers because the two use different playback methods inside Emby. Movie and TV Settings Movies and TV Shows are handled separately throughout the plugin. This includes: Preshow slots Trailer counts Local trailer pools Internet trailer pools Genre settings Enable/disable options This makes it possible to have a completely different preshow setup for Movies than for TV episodes.

Agree, this helped those with slow connections. However, those of us with fast connection do NOT need to see it at all. It confuses everyone when they first see it and it doesn't look right. There must be a way to tailor it so only certain people see it.

Im very excited to try this out. Without knowing if this exists yet, my only ask would be thst there's an option to not show a trailer rated above the film you are going to watch. Example, the trailer for Seven doesn't show before watching toy story.

It's the same one you might have tested before. it's just adding it to the UI.

Library Real Time Monitoring needs SAFETY CHECK
C.S. replied to MacGyver27's topic in General/Windows
Oh I see where the disconnect is, no pun intended. OP had a whole library on a single disk. I'm looking at this from a drive pooling perspective, where Emby has no idea what drives are where, it just knows a crapload of files are suddenly missing. -
Thanks so much! I'll test it out right away.

OK @SamEScan look into whether we can add detection for this model to force transcoding for higher resolution content. Thanks.
-
I've pushed an update to Cinema Intros that allows you to disable the similarity requirement. This will essentially give you random trailers.
-
Ok Thanks

Hi there, what exactly happens when you try? How to Report a Problem

H264 VAAPI hardware encoding not registering despite successful detection (4.9.5.0, Intel Alder Lake-N)".
Luke replied to Chadstratts's topic in Linux
@Chadstratts Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks! -
The server only generates images for top level libraries, genres, tags, etc. Not for individual folders throughout your library. The best thing to do is add a folder.jpg into there.

livetotell started following Offline library listing/index on Android app

I'd really like to be able to view what content I have on my server when it is not online by having the content/index list synced to my Android app each time they are both connected. It would be great to be able to check if I have certain media without firing up my server. Thanks!
-
OK it's odd that the 2017 movie got the same metadata and therefore was merged. If you have the server log from when it was first imported then we might be able to figure that out. Otherwise you've done right to clean it up manually. If you see another odd match like that please let us know and attach the emby server log from when it was first imported. thanks.

You can now skip the connecting stage with the latest update - discussion about it here
-
I don't often have my server on, but I want to listen to my offline music. Previously I had to wait a long time for the app to try connecting to the server before it figured out it couldn't before I could reach my downloaded music. Now I can get to it right away.

Library Real Time Monitoring needs SAFETY CHECK
Lessaj replied to MacGyver27's topic in General/Windows
I haven't run on Emby on Windows in well over 10 years, I would need to test to provide any concrete advice, but if a drive isn't available then it wouldn't be there at all to scan, so that shouldn't be an issue. If, however, you had mapped say D:\ as a library folder, and you attach a new drive with that letter and the drive is blank, or contains other media, then sure it will scan it. If you had D:\Movies mapped instead, and now the newly mounted disk doesn't have that folder, it also shouldn't clear anything because that folder isn't there at all. -
[Beta] ROMote – play your retro game collection in the browser (NES → PlayStation)
utah-dave replied to digitalirony's topic in Plugins
I see the beta is done and over. and when I go to play a game it says that I need to download it from the catalog. But its not showing up in the catalog. Any way to get a download that we now can use? -
Thanks, not heard of Home Screen Companion but interested to know your thoughts/feedback when you get going with it. Sounds like it could be an option. If I have to rebuild my collections, I want some confidence that they'll stay.

Offline Music Sync - Not Viable in 2026 despite statements back to 2022 that it's planned for the future
ColinPostsHere replied to ColinPostsHere's topic in Feature Requests
I believe you can select a Playlist to download (maybe it's a genre), and then all songs in that playlist (or genre) will download, including from new albums added later. So Emby already supports syncing in that fashion without needing to manually keep selecting albums to download. However, there is no way to PLAY them by that same filter (exactly as you described). You have to select the album or the song, which is effectively unusable for many thousands of songs and many hundreds of albums. I'm 100% with you in wanting to be able to PLAY based on that playlist, including both in playlist order and by shuffle. (I don't personally care about filtering albums that are fully downloaded because all new albums always fully download automatically to my phone whenever it's back on my home network, but I respect you and others may have different needs.)
