A little more news, because I know several of you have been following this from the beginning. XCstream has reached the point where I’m comfortable saying that there will be a standalone public beta. What started as an Emby-focused watchdog has evolved into something much narrower and, I think, much more useful: a dedicated MPEG-TS live-stream continuity engine. The biggest change along the way has been pass-through. Earlier in development I expected hardware transcoding to be the safest default. Real-world testing changed my mind. XCstream can now remux, buffer, validate, monitor and recover a live stream while preserving the original video and audio whenever possible. A dedicated GPU is no longer required for normal operation. That is a pretty significant shift from where this project started. I also want to give a big thank-you to Nick (Fyb3roptik) and the Kernel Media Server project. Nick has been incredibly open to testing XCstream, challenging the integration, and helping turn the direct handoff model from an idea into something running against a real media server. He’s also been very supportive of XCstream continuing as an independent project, which I genuinely appreciate. That work helped prove something important: XCstream does not need to own the media server. A media server can simply select the source and hand it to XCstream at tune time. From there, the responsibilities become very clean: Media server: users, lineup, EPG, scheduling, DVR and playback XCstream: source connection, buffering, validation, outage containment, recovery and MPEG-TS continuity That model is now working, and I think it creates a very interesting opportunity for Emby as well. Rather than requiring an Emby-specific plugin or asking Emby to take responsibility for unreliable upstream IPTV behavior, Emby could choose the source at tune time and hand it directly to XCstream. XCstream would return one stable MPEG-TS session while Emby continues doing what it already does best. So I’d like to extend an open invitation to @Luke, @ebrand the Emby team: if that architecture is interesting to you, I’d genuinely like to work together on a native direct integration. To be clear, XCstream will also remain usable independently. Nobody will need to wait for a media-server integration in order to use it. The original goal of this thread hasn’t changed: A bad IPTV source should not automatically mean a failed playback session or a ruined recording. What has changed is how much simpler the answer has become. Keep the original media when it’s good. Intervene only when it isn’t. Keep the session alive. Let the media server be the media server. That’s where XCstream is heading. And yes—I’m looking forward to finally getting this into some of your hands.

The changelog for 4.10.1.0 mentions improvements for the spotlight, but i don't see any difference. Does the app need to be updated for it to take effect? I'm on 2.0.9 (1)

Hello! I have recently obtained an XSX and I am curious about the codec/profile support. Trying to replace it as my main streamer over my aging 2015 Shield Pro. I've seen some chatter online regarding Dolby Vision is not supported for Blu-rays but I don't know if that extends to streaming movies/tv shows? I haven't seen much regarding DTS:X/TrueHD audio. Keen to know if anyone else has investigated this themselves! Regards, snrgarb. edit: added note about audio too!

On my AppleTV tonight I was able to verify using a PIN from Emby connect, however, I then am prompted to sign in followed by an error message. server Administrator says they’ve never seen this issue. internet connection is great, no issues using other streamers on this tv

The 128 setting is using a load less memory at startup and for the first 6 hours...... Is there a performance hit with this expected as I went from 512 - 128.

I take it back! Remote connections are failing again... The server is running on ports 8080 and 8096, both forwarded at my router. I disabled the VPN even though it hadn't been an issue after I enabled the split tunneling. As I'm typing this, I'm streaming to another screen over the local network, so the server is running and the system has connectivity out. I'm at a loss.

It appears I may have been wrong. Things seem ok search wise.

Insanely slow multi word search issue still stands in newest stable. Sometimes it completely stalls the server, sometimes it takes up to 1 minute or so to populate a result. Sometimes it doesnt find it at all.

Just to confirm, this is only for the thumbnail display showing the series image instead of the episode thumbnail.

Is this something I do in my Emby account? Can you guide me to where to find that option, please?

i think at this point we have a better chance at getting sync-play before getting extra metadata display orders.

Have you tried "Add value"? (I'm not sure whether it gets imported, thogh, you'll have to try and see)

Does this mean everything that's in the 4.11 beta is in this, and the "included in" issue has been resolved?

Whoa, this is awesome! I don't even use auto box sets and it works! I believe it's because it picks up TheMovieDB ID when scanned and it works great!

Am liking the new details views, especially Minimalism. Ideally I could have that view, but with the usual below it - cast, more like this, but completely off the bottom till you go looking for it.

Possible to get this in the next beta?

Season 1 in Aired order or Season 1 in DVD order is still Season 1 - single poster would (and generally does) cover both, I doubt anyone looks for Season 1 poster for DVD order in particular. Same goes for episode groups. For descriptions - maybe, though they're also quite rare. For posters - don't see why not, as said.

You can't (or shouldn't) do a fallback because the content or description of a season in aired order will not correlate to a different order. Additionally if you pick a custom order with tvdb, then we should not allow metadata through a secondary provider like tmdb, even if you have it enabled in library options, because we can't match up a tvdb group to a tmdb group.

Personally, I'd treat all of those parts (non-season titled sub-groups) as Seasons regardless of how they're named - and true, there's no numbered seasons/parts requirement, but items where they're actually not are few and far between. True again, but if they're treated as seasons as per above, either TMDB or fallback provider should grab (or offer on manual search) a season image in vast majority of cases.
