Following up on this feature request with an example of how I'd use it. I have a collection of all the Marvel MCU movies, as well as individual collections for groups within the MCU (Avengers Collection, Thor Collection, etc.). I've set my Movie library view to "Group Items into Collections" as it seems cleaner to me. If I want to find one of the Thor movies, it's obviously under "T", Avengers under "A".....but, if I want to watch "The Eternals (don't judge), a stand-alone, I have to remember it's in the MCU Collection. It would be great to have the option of showing that individual title with the "E"s, but also still including it with the large MCU collection.

I've been seeing the same behavior using the Edge browser. It started happening a few beta releases before stable was released. I didn't report it, as I thought it was a problem on my end and refreshing was an easy fix. But since it has now been reported, I thought I would chime in.

If it matters much, this has always worked for me. The dashes and spaces it turns out are crucial. Also a heads up, if you have any movie with the themoviedb puts a "colon :" the folder and file must have a "dash -" to replace the colon or you will experience the same issue as you have above. Yes I was getting infrequent stutter on the latest AndroidTV version so I sideloaded the last version that had smooth playback on. Don't let that distract you from this issue though. That "really old version of the TV app" is direct playing perfectly and the universal Android app is transcoding so don't knock it. Thanks for the log - please supply the full embyserver log file and not an extract from it Also please enable debug logging on the server - go server settings dashboard and select logs in the left side bar under Emby Server heading and then click on the Logs Settings tab and set "Enable debug logging" to Yes. That will help with tomorrow's recording and looking at the guide refresh requested below And please do a guide refresh - Server Settings Dashboard / Live TV / Click on Refresh Guide Data When it completes, go the Home screen, select Live TV and then select the Series tab and open up the Matt and Mollie Series recording page and get me the screenshots for the whole screen - i want to see how many epiosdes show and if the red indicator for to-be-recorded is showing - screenshots equivalent to this from my server and then send me the embyserver.txt log file after this - this should have debug logging now and show if timers are set for th airings

Hi. Do all the problem items have 40+ subtitle tracks? Can you please reproduce the problem and then follow the instructions to send a log from the app?

No client app triggers transcoding for no reason - it might be erroneous due to the number of factors, but there'll always be the underlying logic/selection process. As per your screenshot, app likely reports AVC Max. video level as 5.1, but ffmpeg log written would show exactly what's occurring. How to report a media playback issue

Yeah I'm still debating a move like that, but need to research a bit more if all my GUI acceleration is available and that another layer of abstraction doesn't cause performance issues. I suppose there is one way to find out.. I go one step further than GEO blocking. I whitelist my Emby access firewall rule with only ASN's from potential users and friends -- all the common broadband providers and such. I also have higher level rules that block the ASN's of all known scanners and other downloadable ACL's for known bad guys. My only worry now is if they get in, but I'm probably the least likely person at this point.

Airbee was talking about how he would encounter this when deleting items. That's a change to the library which would kick off a notification that could cause the app to reload that content. Any change to the library - either within the app you are working or externally - could be causing the app to reload. That's just a guess but could very well be what's going on.

If I disable "Allow transcoding" and disable "Allow changing of container formats" on my server, it now works in full direct play in the universal Android app exactly like it does with these enabled when played in the AndroidTV app. So the universal Android app is triggering transcoding for no good reason. In fact I also checked my phone (Pixel 8 Pro) where it transcodes by default but when disabled at the server it direct plays perfectly too. Now for the last kicker; the WebOS Emby app on my LG C9 OLED TV was transcoding this GTA6 file and stuttering terribly when doing it, but when transcoding is disabled at the server, it direct plays perfectly too on my TV's native app with perfect frame pacing. What is going on here?! Please can someone at Emby download this free video file and do some testing with your latest apps? The only one that does not trigger transcoding for no reason (as all my client devices can play it directly when transcoding is disabled) is the AndroidTV app on my Nvidia Shield Pro. I currently have Emby Server 4.8.10.0 installed on Ubuntu 22.04 as a native .deb package. I plan to download version 4.9.5.0 using: wget https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/4.9.5.0/emby-server-deb_4.9.5.0_amd64.deb After downloading the .deb, should I simply run: sudo dpkg -i emby-server-deb_4.9.5.0_amd64.deb to upgrade the existing installation?

Hi, what you’re doing is more than the typical user so you’re in a good position already. I used to front my installation with pfSense years ago so my memory is a little hazy but apply some Snort/Suricata signatures to help detect port scans, brute force attacks as well as any other suspicious activity going on. Got to be careful how many you turn on… Would also be useful to implement ‘pfBlockerNG’ which can block ‘known’ bad IPs from various threat intelligence feeds, as well as applying geoblocks etc. As for the windows side of things, if performance and GPU transcoding aren’t at the top of your requirements you could run Ubuntu within Hyper-V on your machine, and run Emby inside that. You won’t be able to mount USB drives to it but you can always create network shares and do it that way.

Without testing - Suspect old version .nfo causing name sticking. Try removing the .nfo file, if you have them and rescaning the library.

Hi, quick correction to my previous message — I realized I described the issue inaccurately. The OpenSubtitles token does not expire immediately. The actual behavior is: Subtitle downloads work normally for a while. After some time, the OpenSubtitles token expires. Once it expires, Emby can no longer download subtitles at all and every request fails with invalid token. The only way to make subtitle downloads work again is to restart the Emby server, which generates a new valid token. After the restart, everything works again until the token expires once more. So the problem is not that the token is invalid from the start — it’s that Emby doesn’t seem to refresh or renew the token when it expires, forcing a full server restart each time. Just wanted to clarify the correct behavior so the issue can be diagnosed properly. I can provide logs if needed.

My thought is that a change to the library you are viewing might be the variable you guys are missing in figuring out what may be causing the move back to the top.
