Hey Luke no I was talking about the password I use as a user/admin on my server and to log in on the various emby apps etc.. It's the same password I've used since signing up. I started up the app June 29 but was signed out. When I tried to put in my password I kept getting the invalid password/username error. I have a separate log in and password for this website.

Pixelsmash Vulnerability in ffmpeg (CVE-2026-8461) - Is Emby vulnerable?
xe` replied to CHBMB's topic in General/Windows
Can someone explain to me why I am having to read pages of forum debates to gain an insight into this CVE? Why is this being handled like some sort of "first time a CVE has been released" bespoke process? Publish a succinct impact statement and a timeline on the main website, we are all busy people managing busy lives, no one has time for this. -

Sorting collections by date of last item added
AngelSing replied to wakeboarder141's topic in Feature Requests
I would like to support this request because I think it would be a very useful improvement for users who organize their movie libraries by grouping sagas or collections. Currently, when the option to group movies into collections is enabled and the library is sorted by date added, adding a new movie that belongs to an existing collection does not move that collection to the top of the Movies section. The new movie is placed inside the collection, but the collection remains in its previous position, usually based on the older movies it already contained. For example, if I add a new movie from a saga such as Toy Story, the movie itself has a recent date added, but once it is placed inside the collection, the collection still appears much further back in the library. It would be very helpful if Emby could use the most recent “date added” value from any item inside a collection and apply that to the collection when sorting the Movies section by date added. That way, collections would behave more naturally inside the Movies view: if a newly added movie belongs to a collection, the whole collection should appear as recently updated content. I believe this would greatly improve the browsing experience and make the library order much more consistent for users who keep movies grouped into collections. -

What model/year of TV do you have? Most TVs 4 years or newer should get updated monthly. -

Enable RTM. But that depends on how you installed Emby what OS and what you folder paths are like. You have providen less to nothing about you setup, so no quick solution from my part. So I'm guessing

I've been testing this IPTV playlist plugin and seems to be an improvement in playback IMHO. The only improvement I would like to see is the ability to control how the channels appear in the "Live TV guide" grid. The way it seems to work now is the IPTV channels are randomly inserted from the top whenever there happens to be a free channel number / space for it. It would be great to be able to somehow dictate where the channels should be inserted in the guide. Without having to manually change the channel number for each one individually after the fact.

Donkey3k started following TV Series tags disappear
-
I've been trying to utilise tags on series and/or folders for a while without much success. I have filters on certain users (kids) so that only certain series show up for them based on the presence of a tag. This works as long as there is content for that show. Once all shows are removed but the show itself is not removed (folder and related information remains) then a new episode appears, the tag is removed and it becomes visible to all users. When I got to review the show, the tag is gone. I've tried applying this to both the series while episodes are present, and when there are no shows to the folder. In any case, when it goes from 0 episodes to 1+ episodes, all tags are removed.

vincen started following No more read status on medias
-
Hi Am I the only one with that problem ? Since 1/2 weeks all my android players (whatever it's on Android TV, or my cell or phone running Emby Android app), it doesn't update anymore server about read status and progress (whatever I manually put a media as read or because I have read it till the end). It looks to coincide with my upgrade of server to 4.9.5.0 Something also related is that everything that is played with Android Player doesn't show up anymore in Now Playing in the admin dashboard of Emby neither in Activity (only identification shows up). I'll be happy to share logs if needed in few days once back home. Thanks

Is this resolved? I know its been a minute. thxs!

Thank you! That explains some things I was seeing.

Yes.

Don't forget that it should work the same for an .NFO file if there are customizations there. Have a good day.

So are all of those playlist folders obsolete?

I appreciate that, but then why even have the options available in Emby? And the same thing could be said about albums. I have the information stored in the file itself, but if I modify it in Emby, it uses my modifications going forward. And writes the modifications to the file system for easy backup/interoperability. The idea here is to rely on Emby for media management. Otherwise, I could just make sure to tag my files correctly, and let something else play them. Since I started this thread, I have gone back through all of my 5300+ music tracks, and retagged with the most recent metadata using Musicbrainz Picard. I enabled options for high-resolution images and complete genre and track data. It took every bit of free time I had for the last month. I wanted to start out with the most current and complete metadata I could to make sure that my observations were accurate. And for @Luke, let me say... As usual, Emby did a fantastic job of picking up the changes, re-indexing everything, etc... Admittedly, I've been ripping my CD's since (probably) the Windows 98 days, so it was a worthwhile project to get updated data into the files themselves... LOL My opinion is that music should behave just like we've come to expect from movies or television libraries. If you customize metadata/artwork there, it is preserved in the file system if a user elects to save metadata to disk. But if a trusting/non-technical user assumes their music track customization's are occurring the same way, they may only find out otherwise after a server failure. The fact that the options are available in the GUI at the track level tells me that ultimately, this is how it was intended to be at some point anyhow. Artists... Custom metadata info and art saved to disk... Albums... Custom metadata info and art saved to disk... Tracks... Well.............. Obviously, the expectation is the same. And THIS is the final step to complete everything necessary for music to behave like everything else. Maybe development focused on other things initially because not many people were customizing down to this level, but I think it's time to finish what was started. That's what I'm trying to help happen, using myself as a willing guinea pig. I have 5300+ tracks all tagged with the most current information, and hundreds of those tracks have custom art/metadata added through the Emby GUI. I'm here to help if needed, to find the correct path forward that doesn't break anything for others. Have a great holiday weekend.

No not on the server, I mean on the Ubuntu client.
