Option to embed artwork in music files on a download sync task
ginjaninja replied to ginjaninja's topic in Feature Requests
Ok well thats embarrassing. i used mp3tag to embed artwork in every track at 500x500 as recommended and The library didnt increase the size. The resultant jpgs were smaller than expect avg. 50KB Doesnt sound possible but over 1tb library the total size barely changed. Possibly the sector size of the storage is such that a small image typically doesnt affect disk usage? The feature request is possibly redundant. Here is the mp3tag i used in case its of interest. 1st line finds the image in the current folder or above and imports it. 2nd one resizes to 500x500 as jpg consistently. VLC sees the images now in car play, so im a happy bunny. -

DirecTV NBA League Pass channels missing
davidpaul11 replied to hpooni's topic in Emby Provided Guide Data
If your DIRECTV NBA League Pass channels are missing, first confirm the package is active on your account and refresh your receiver. Some League Pass channels may only appear when games are scheduled, and blackout restrictions can also affect availability. If the channels still don't show, DIRECTV support may need to refresh or reauthorize the programming on your account. For businesses or commercial properties that need help with DIRECTV programming and sports channel packages, CSSDTV can also assist. -

Hi everyone, I'd like to introduce a plugin I've been working on: EmbyCast. It lets you send announcements, scheduled messages, countdown/restart warnings and "what's new" notifications to your Emby users — all directly from the server dashboard. This is an introduction/beta-test thread — the .dll is attached below so you can install it manually and try it out. I'd really appreciate any testing, feedback, and bug reports before this goes any further. This is also my first attempt at building an Emby plugin (thx claude), and my first post on this forum — so please bear with me if things aren't perfect yet, any feedback is very welcome. The dashboard has a built-in EN/DE language switch, and every feature works with Active users, All users, or a manually selected list. Below is a quick tour of what it can do. Instant Message Send a message right now to whoever you choose — active users, everyone, or specific people picked from a live, refreshable user list. You can set an auto-dismiss time in seconds, or leave it at 0 so the message stays on screen until the user closes it themselves. Scheduled Message Queue up a message to go out automatically at a future date and time — handy for announcing maintenance windows or events ahead of time. All upcoming scheduled messages are listed below the form, each with a one-click Cancel option in case plans change. Timer & Server Countdown Built for restart warnings: set a total countdown, pick reminder marks (60/30/15/5/1 min, or your own custom list), and EmbyCast automatically fires off a reminder at each mark, right down to "restarting now." There's a live preview of every message before you start the timer, an optional server action once the countdown ends, and — importantly — the session list is re-checked before every reminder, so anyone who logs in mid-countdown still gets the remaining warnings. Media News (manual & automatic) Announce recently added movies and episodes. Pick which libraries to include, choose whether to include newly added series and/or new episodes, and customize the episode title format with placeholders like {Series name (year)}, {SxxExx} and {Episode title}. You can trigger it manually with Send Media News Now, preview it first, or turn on automatic sending on a chosen weekday and time (e.g. every Friday at 20:00) with a configurable look-back window in days. Here's what the resulting message looks like on the user's end — grouped into New Movies, New TV Shows and New Episodes: Welcome Message A message that's automatically sent the very first time a new user logs in — a nice way to greet new members of your server with any info they should know. It can be toggled on/off and edited at any time; existing users get it once when you first enable it, after that only newly created accounts receive it. Status & History Every message the plugin has sent is logged here, complete with per-user delivery status: green means delivered, yellow means pending (the user was offline and will get it at their next login). You can dismiss individual entries or discard the whole history at once, and refresh the list on demand. Plugin Updates EmbyCast checks GitHub for newer releases and lets you install updates with a single click, right from its own settings page — no need to manually download and copy files. Installation Download the .dll attached to this thread. Copy it into your Emby Server's plugin folder (e.g. Emby-Server\plugins on Windows, or the equivalent plugins folder on your platform). Restart your Emby Server. EmbyCast will then show up under Advanced → EmbyCast in the dashboard. Download EmbyCast.Plugin.dll GitHub repo: https://github.com/solistvbox-rgb/embycast Known Issues Auto-dismiss time doesn't reliably work. While the field is there and messages can be configured with a dismiss time, in practice it doesn't behave as expected across clients yet. Setting it to 0 (stays until manually dismissed) is currently the safest option. Credits This plugin was built with the help of claude.ai. It uses the same SDK patterns as EmbyNotify and EmbyWeeklyDigest, two plugins created by SFTech13, which served as an inspiration and the architectural template for this project — many thanks for that groundwork! Thanks for checking it out!

Doesn't give any confidence in the project either if you ask me.

Where is the tvshow.nfo file getting data from?
Deihmos replied to Deihmos's topic in Emby Provided Guide Data
Sorry to hear that. Looks like it still exists in stable though. -
This makes sense, eventhough this is an app that is available on Google Play, wich means that Google has approved it, the "stamp of approval" argument when it comes to official Emby-plugin, i get it. Thanks for clearing that up. Im sorry, but this i dont get, exactly what is getting stolen? /N

Gracenote came knocking with a big bill due to the increased image transfer. Hopefully we'll be able to find a way to bring it back. -

I see guide backdrops has gone away and Emby is back to using the poster as the backdrop. I was hoping the recordings would be able to import the backdrops and not rely on tvdb or tmdb. -
I haven't seen this but we'll do some testing on it. It's important to note though that the feature requires idle time. Any movement of the mouse or press of any button and you're not idle anymore.

Cartoon Shows that are Actually Movies Organization Question
AVTechMan replied to AVTechMan's topic in General/Windows
My Animation folder library is setup for mixed content both movies and TV Shows. Its possible that I could just setup the shorts as individual movies as they were originally presented. Another media player I sometimes use won't even recognize the files if they were in TV season/episode format (like the Three Stooges), so would have to use TMDB. I suppose I could just set up another 'Movie' based library and have all those shorts in that, like Tex stuff in its own library, as well as Looney Tunes. Besides I can just shuffle the playback of these shorts anyway so having them in year based order won't matter as much for my case. It'll be just like broadcast tv, surprise me with a good toon. -
OK, the thing to watch out for will be if the server data folder path changes. It's printed at the top of the log file.

Hi, as soon as we've determined that it's ready for release.

How to get an image url that is suitable to put in a <img src
HawkXP71 posted a topic in Developer API
I am moving some code from JS that currently runs inside a js page. The current code is var serverId = "...."; // a valid server Id var imageid = "....."; // a valid image id var imageUrl = ApiClient.getImageUrl( imageId, { type: "Primary", quality: 90 } ) return "<<a is="emby-linkbutton" href="/item?id=` + imageId + `&serverId=` + serverId + `"><img src="` + imageUrl + `" height="200px" alt="` + v.Name + `" /></a>`; I am trying to get the same exact url from C# function calls. I have access to all the globals created during the service construction. Thanks in advance Scott -
ahh thanks @ebrthat's probably behind it

Emby for Android on Shield TV no longer passing through dolby digital 5.1 or DTS
ChateauPlex replied to Kramerika's topic in Android TV / Fire TV
So the topic is dead, and I am still having many playback issues. -
Ended up writing two scripts () : one to recursively go through TV show root/letter subfolders/series folders and copy series thumb as each <episodefilename>-landscape image, another one to import all those landscapes as episode thumbs through API endpoint. It was a bit of a chore. But served the purpose.
-
If you really want these things, you are better off to move to Android or use InFuse.
-
So when will the next update be? I am happy that this is finally hitting crApple TV. Another step closer to it being a viable alternative to the new POS Scamazon "Fire" sticks.

[Beta] ROMote – play your retro game collection in the browser (NES → PlayStation)
digitalirony replied to digitalirony's topic in Plugins
New build up (1.0.0.39) - it covers a couple of things from both of you. @GrimEvil - your log pinned it exactly. When you launch a game from the native Emby app, it opens your phone's browser fresh, with no Emby login, so the game couldn't authenticate to pull the ROM - that's the "network error." Fixed in 1.0.0.39: if the player opens without a login, it now shows a quick Emby sign-in and remembers it on that device. Use the "Play Game (App)" link on your phone (the "Browser" one is for when you're already in a web browser, which is why it just closes in the app). Two notes: - On mobile data (5G) it should now work end to end. On home WiFi that "App" link points at your external domain, which your network doesn't resolve internally - that's a DNS thing on the network side (split-horizon DNS, or just use Emby in your phone's browser there). - Android TV: no way around this one, sorry. ROMote plays in a browser, and the Android TV app has no browser to open, so it's really a desktop/laptop/phone/tablet thing. @EmreWest - on the duplicate remover: it's not just picking the first US file, it scores each copy. A proper release beats beta/proto/bad dumps, then it ranks by region (USA/English first, then Japan, then everything else), then prefers the newest revision. So US usually wins because it's ranked highest, not because of folder order. A "preferred region" option so you could rank, say, Europe first is a good idea - I'll look at adding it. And the iPhone Safari zoom-on-fast-taps you mentioned was a real bug, also fixed in 1.0.0.39. It's an iOS Safari quirk (it ignores the no-zoom setting), now suppressed. Build is attached - thanks both, this kind of feedback is exactly what I need. ROMote.dll
