@soderlundThanks for this great plugin I waited so long to use it finally. I'm really late to the party with this great plugin since main server is on stable and finally updated to a supported version. Few questions just to make clear I understand this right. 1. I added a MDBlist as external list under Source in Tag & Collection. 2. Then I added a Tag Name for the items out of this list in my library. 3. Then I went into Top-Lists and added a list with the source by Tag and chose the tag I set up in point 2. 4. At the end I ran a full sync. 5. Library is created and shown as list with top list badge on homecreen of the selected users. Now to the questions: 1. Is this the correct way or did I overcomplicate something here? 2. Not all thumbs have the top list badge. I ran several runs and recreated the list multiple times, there are always images with no top list badge. 3. Is it usual behaviour that all items in this Companion created list do show multiversion for the video file?

I'm far from an expert but I will try to help @Mister_Udid you? 1. In the HSC go to Top List 2. Create New 3. Choose how to create the list Manual or Tags (I did Tags) you will see a list and how many movies are included in the individual tag list shown 4. Select a tag / tag list 5. Select users that will have access to the list 6. Enter 50 in Max items and save it will say if it was created and successful 7. Go to user settings, home screen under display and you should see your Top List at the very bottom of the list of your Home Sections which will show on the actual Emby home page all the way at the bottom until moved

Hm, nothing was accessing / locking it i think, I was able to rename the system folder and put in the new one and i think a lock would have prevented that? But it works now, and i guess rebooting would have also worked, thanks

Something is likely keeping your system folder locked (likely some browser, FF has a particular tendency for it), try rebooting server machine.

Hey, I am having an issue where the update just doesnt work for me. I see the update, i click on it, it tells me it finished and that i have to restart, and after restarting, i am still on the old version. Edit: I was able to manually backup the old system folder and put in the new one embyserver-63924663293.txtembyserver-63924663282.txtembyserver-63924663254.txtembyserver-63924663187.txt

Why does anything on the local lan need to be transcoded? Did I miss something? If your hardware can't support native 4k and DoVi any reason to have those resolutions anyway? Or is that it is crappy hardware in the bathroom and glorious resolutions in the bedroom and living room? I don't know much about DoVi, tested a few, look like crap to me. Went back to 1080p. @Hoedus Well, you said... only CERTAIN files, your's looks a bad job, but again, I don't know much about DoVi files. You should consider re-ripping those certain files.

First, thanks so much to the community and @yockerfor all the incredible work! Is there a list of what clients are supported for the auto skipping of the credits to function? I have been trying to get this to work for one specific show for awhile now and I see the markers were made in EmbyCredits and also listed in TimeMarkEdit. I use either Emby Windows store app for Windows 11, Chrome/Firefox browser, or older Tizen Samsung TV app. I get the Next Episode button which starts to fill but it never actually auto skips, just fills until the episode ends and then onto the next episode. I'm just trying to figure out if it's a client issue or something I have mis-configured. Thanks for any assistance! My wife falls asleep to this show every night and the credits are sooo loud and obnoxious and wake me up all the time!

Ya, I never thought it would easy Have read a bit about the swap and OS reactivation so I do expect some pain for sure. Current Emby system was built by me, is not an OEM Win11 Pro license, and is registered to my Microsoft account so hopefully that will make it a bit easier, hopefully. OK can you please show us a specific example of when it did not show but you expected it to? Can you show a screenshot? Are you sure you actually had a multi-item queue ?

@ebr Interesting. I have to ask, though: why are all of these supposedly decisive technical and resource arguments only appearing now? We've been discussing this for quite some time. Initially the argument was that too few users needed Direct File Access and that its benefit was “very debatable”. Then the Android permission issue was raised. Then it became “limited resources”. Only after I specifically questioned whether restoring the feature had ever actually been assessed as requiring significant resources do we suddenly get a detailed list of additional technical and support problems. If these were the real reasons behind the decision all along, why weren't they mentioned when I originally asked why Direct File Access was no longer supported? And some of what you've now described still sounds less like an inherent problem with Direct File Access and more like limitations of Emby's current implementation. You say there is only one shared network path field and Android would require a different value from an HTPC. Fine — but that's a limitation of the current path-mapping design. It doesn't demonstrate that Direct File Access itself is a bad or prohibitively expensive feature. Likewise, Android devices clearly can access network files directly when the application provides the necessary implementation. Kodi demonstrates that every day. Whether Emby wants to implement and support that is another question entirely. I'm also not claiming that bringing back the old implementation would take another five minutes. Android has changed since then. But I do remember @rbjtech persuading you to add Direct File Access originally, and according to him the actual implementation at the time was essentially a matter of minutes. So when “limited resources” suddenly becomes the central argument years later, I think it's entirely reasonable to ask what the actual estimated development and support cost today is. Has somebody actually evaluated that? Or are we working backwards from the already-made decision that the feature isn't worth supporting and assembling the reasons why? Because those are two very different things. And “Okay, now I'm finished” doesn't make that question disappear.

Okay now I understand what you mean. But i made my plugin mainly to handle scheduled expiration directly within the Emby library/environment, so I’m keeping it independent from Radarr/Sonarr rather than adding those integrations. For a setup like yours, where the Arr apps also need to be updated when something is removed, Maintainerr would probably be the better fit. I might look into adding optional Maintainerr integration in the future, but for now, I’m keeping the plugin focused on Emby itself.

There was no media session to hold. I have never attempted, at least not recently, to play Midnights. It certainly wasn't the most recent thing I was doing with Emby. So I have no idea why it even started, or why the Emby app gave no indication anything was playing, or why my Shield gave no indication anything was playing.

Then just do that - uninstall and reinstall it! If it's really your own server and you've managed to install Emby Server by sideloading an Android apk, then this shouldn't be any problem for you.
