Audio HLS with TranscodingContainer=mp4: the playlist is served, the segments throw a 500
vdatanet replied to vdatanet's topic in Developer API
Coming back to this one with a fresh measurement, because I had a 4.10.0.30 container up for another thread and this took two minutes to check: it still happens on the current beta. Setup: clean install in a disposable container, 4.10.0.30, nothing from my own server. The source is synthetic — 90 s of pink noise in FLAC at 614 kbps: ffmpeg -f lavfi -i "anoisesrc=color=pink:sample_rate=48000:amplitude=0.5" -ac 2 -t 90 \ -c:a flac -sample_fmt s16 -metadata title="Test track" -metadata artist="Test" \ -metadata album="Test album" "01 - Test track.flac" One thing worth knowing before you try it: the source has to be big enough to force a transcode. My first attempt was a sine tone, which FLAC squeezes down to 118 kbps — under the MaxStreamingBitrate=192000 in the request — so the server direct-played it and nothing failed. With a source above the limit it fails every time. The request is the same one from my first post, plus a PlaySessionId: GET /Audio/{id}/universal?UserId={uid}&DeviceId={dev}&MaxStreamingBitrate=192000 &Container=mp3,aac,m4a&AudioCodec={codec}&PlaySessionId={psid} &TranscodingProtocol=hls&TranscodingContainer={mp4|ts} The playlist is served correctly either way — 30 segments, #EXT-X-VERSION:7 with EXT-X-MAP for mp4, #EXT-X-VERSION:3 for ts. It is the segments that differ, and it does not depend on the codec I ask for: AudioCodec TranscodingContainer=mp4 TranscodingContainer=ts aac 500 (init.mp4 and every seg) 200, 91,556 B mp3 500 200, 86,856 B opus 500 200, 70,312 B flac 500 200, 247,784 B alac 500 200, 251,544 B All ten cells, same session pattern, same file. Every 500 body is "Object reference not set to an instance of an object.", and the stack in your log is the same one I sent in August: FfRunException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException at Emby.Server.MediaEncoding.Encoder.TranscodingCommandBuilder.HlsGetCommandLineArguments(...) at Emby.Server.MediaEncoding.Api.Hls.DynamicHlsService.GetCommandLineArguments(...) at Emby.Server.MediaEncoding.Api.BaseStreamingService.StartFfMpeg(...) at Emby.Server.MediaEncoding.Api.Hls.DynamicHlsService.GetDynamicSegment(...) And ffmpeg never launches for the mp4 path: across that run your log has 12 "ProcessRun 'StreamTranscode' ... Execute" lines for the 12 ts segment requests, and zero for the 16 mp4 ones. It fails while assembling the command line, before any process starts. Happy to run anything else against this container while I have it, or to attach the log. -

Hey @softworkz are there any updates on when MPV HW acceleration support for Raspberry Pi devices will be added? Is there a topic I can follow to get updates on this? Thanks -

How to stream from OBS to RTSP and watch on Emby without transcoding
godfuture replied to YKEmbyMedia's topic in Synology
Hey guys, I come from I guess in this thread here its about mediamtx providing a stream to emby, right? Could emby also be used to provide media to mediamtx such that others could stream it? I would love something like silent cinema or silent party where emby is playing towards a media streamer where others could easily subscribe for video or audio. For example, if a Raspi is providing a wifi hotspot next to its regular wifi network connection and hosts mediamtx, it only needs to appear as emby client. As a user I could select playback in Raspi. This would be awesome for some summer nights. -

When attempting to install the Windows Emby server on a clean Windows 2025 Standard install on a Dell PowerEdge rack server (Intel Xeon based), the setup.exe immediately fails. Install log contains the following: The following properties have been set: Property: [AdminUser] = true {boolean} Property: [InstallMode] = HomeSite {string} Property: [NTProductType] = 3 {int} Property: [ProcessorArchitecture] = AMD64 {string} Property: [VersionNT] = 6.2.0 {version} Launching Application. URLDownloadToCacheFile failed with HRESULT '-2146697208' Error: An error occurred trying to download 'https://embydata.com/downloads/server/release14/MediaBrowser.Server.Installer.application'. However, if I put that exact URL into the Edge browser, it resolves fine. Anyone else run into this?

Hi, if you're still having an issue with this and you happen to run the beta server, then please let us know if the latest build helps with this. Thanks.

How to update AlbumId on existing Audio items from a plugin?
Luke replied to Jdiesel's topic in Developer API
HI, you don't worry about the album object. you just set the values on the track - album, albumartist, external ids, and when you save the track, the core server will take care of the rest. -
How to update AlbumId on existing Audio items from a plugin?
Jdiesel posted a topic in Developer API
I'm developing a music metadata plugin that fingerprint-identifies tracks via Chromaprint/AcoustID and assigns MusicBrainz IDs. After identification, I set MusicBrainzAlbum ProviderId on individual Audio tracks via SetProviderId + LibraryManager.UpdateItem. This works — the ProviderIds persist correctly. However, the AlbumId field (the foreign key linking Audio items to their parent MusicAlbum) is not being updated. Tracks identified after the initial library scan have AlbumId=NULL in the database, even though they now have MusicBrainzAlbum ProviderIds. This means only some tracks appear under their MusicAlbum in the Emby UI. What I've tried: 1. LibraryManager.UpdateItem(track, track, ItemUpdateType.MetadataDownload, opts) — persists ProviderIds but does NOT write the AlbumId column 2. LibraryManager.UpdateItem(track, track, ItemUpdateType.None, opts) — same, AlbumId not written 3. Setting track.InternalAlbumId = album.InternalId before UpdateItem — UpdateItem does not persist InternalAlbumId 4. Setting track.InternalAlbumId and calling ItemRepository.SaveItem via reflection — SaveItem resets InternalAlbumId back to 0 after saving (appears to reload from DB) Context: - The MusicAlbum items exist as virtual items (created by Emby during the initial scan) but have empty Path values - Tracks have ParentId pointing to a Folder (type 3), not the MusicAlbum (type 12) - Only tracks that had MusicBrainzAlbum in their file tags at initial scan time got AlbumId linked; tracks identified later by the plugin did not - A subsequent library scan does not re-evaluate AlbumId for existing items Question: Is there a supported API to update the AlbumId of an existing Audio item from a plugin? Or is there a way to trigger Emby to re-evaluate album linking for tracks that now have MusicBrainzAlbum ProviderIds but AlbumId=NULL? I'd prefer not to use raw SQL or delete/re-create items. Any guidance would be appreciated. -
The email address is the same, yes. I had success once with Ear Wax recognizing my Emby library but it was never able to actually play anything from it. No success ever with Plex. (the ear wax config page was able to connect, but the alexa device is where the trouble happens) I would get different messages every time honestly but the most common one is "sorry I don't know how to help you with that".

On edge it will transcode also without asking to do playback correction

Canyouseeme.org worked when I first tried it, but I've just tried again and it is showing a totally different IP address, and defaulted to port 80. Tried port 8096 and it failed. I've no idea how any of this works, but just to add to my confusion, Plexamp no longer works outside my home network either. I've tried Talescale but couldn't get that to work. I realise I'm completely out of my depth here, but I never used to have this issue and don't understand why it no longer works.

It happens on all my tvs running on the same server only become an issue from server 4.10.0.26 upwards If you can not track an issue down then it must be something with the seever @Lukewhat do we need to do some checks? i have attached my latest server logs for your reference. Only seems to effect the amazon version of the app, also recordings are not starting on time i am going to double check the time on my server shortly to make sure its not that for recordings issue. Emby is used in my home for all live tv on all tvs so these bugs are easily identified my side. embyserver-63923824841.txt embyserver (23).txt

Verizon Fios killing my CableCard: Options? Ideas?
lcasadonte replied to jcbeaver76's topic in Live TV
I too have fallen into this verizon hole. I ordered the ota hdhomerun for now as i have an antenna on my roof and should get the basic locals with it for now. I have a dumb question for the group but does this also effect the dvr itself (i.e. it will stop working not just the cable card, how about the modem)? Thanks,
