Unset Content - Bug or Feature?

Hi Guys,

I am relatively new to emby - just a few weeks ago I set up my new FreeNAS server, tried Plex before, but have now settled on emby. Currently still on 6070. Great program and great experience so far!

On topic:

I experimented a little with the different content types and settled for unset/mixed for my anime library. For the most part it works great so far, but I noticed some "odd" behavior compared to other content types which I can not quite guess if it is intentional or a bug.

It starts with accessing the library. With other content types you usually get taken to the suggestions tab - but not so with unset/mixed. You immediately get taken to the library.

Furthermore the top bar where you change between the tabs (suggestions, episodes, genres, etc.) does not display at all! First I thought maybe it is a browser issue. But nope same behavior in Vivaldi, Firefox and IE. Strange thing is - it is not like for example that the genre functions are missing completely. That would have been something I could understand. But I can access single genres from the links in the individual movie/series and see the respective titles that belong to that genre.

Next I noticed that the filter option seems to have fewer options. I can not for example filter for tags.

And lastly for views. When I change to the normal poster view - there are still the titles displayed below the posters. Isn't that usually what the posterbox view is for?

So tell me guys - is this intentional? Or are these bugs? Or did I simply just bog my installation?

It is the content types on the library that allows us to create specialized presentations for them.  So, if yours is unset then we have no way of doing that.  That is a limitation of that type (or lack of type).

I would search around here for other posts on setting up anime libraries to see how others have successfully done it.

Ah that makes sense. So the genre view for example is content-type specific? So there would be one for movie genres, one for TV-shows and even though the metadata exists in an unset/mixed library - as of now there is no view that grabs that information. Same for the additional options in filter.

So unset/mixed would need its own views and filters. Any plans for that?

I'm not sure. The challenge with it is that it's so wide open that everyone will have their own idea of what they want it to look like. It will be hard to make everyone happy so that's why the current approach is conservative. It's possible in the future.
