tigrao 18
I have been trying to get to the bottom of a problem that completely incapacitates my server. My server's interface is non-responsive and the Emby web client takes almost ten minutes to load. When I could finally get task manager to come up I can see that I have over 140 ffmpeg processes running. In my server log I see over and over lines similar to this: 2016-08-23 10:42:56.9220 Info MediaEncoder: Killing ffmpeg process 2016-08-23 10:42:57.9121 Error MediaEncoder: ffmpeg image extraction failed for file:"D:\Recorded TV\Wild Kratts_KBYUDT_2016_08_22_18_28_00.wtv" 2016-08-23 10:42:57.9121 Error MediaEncoder: I-frame image extraction failed, will attempt standard way. Input: file:"D:\Recorded TV\Super WHY!_KUEDH_2016_03_16_10_58_17.wtv" Yes, I record a lot of kids shows. I've gone in and tried to turn off metadata settings, but that doesn't seem to be helping anything. How can I keep my server from being taken hostage by ffmpeg processes trying to extract images? Luke 37063
It looks like some image extractions failed and hung and got stuck in a state that prevented us from killing them. This is very rare, I haven't seen it happen in a couple years. Make sure to turn off the screen grabber for all types, not just movies, notice the dropdown at the top of that screen. thanks. tigrao 18
I killed those 140 processes and then went through all of the media types. There were some that were not turned off on music and home videos I think it was. The problem hasn't come back in the last six hours. I will check again tomorrow.
