Loadnabox 0
I was going through my library and tidying up videos that had been mis-identified or hand't been identified at all using the web interfaceSomewhere during the process literally half of the videos disappeared even though they still exist on the drive. For a brief moment I saw the missing half of videos, but the ones I first saw were gone (haven't been able to replicate this second part since)I tried renaming the library.db and rebuilding but no effect. I tried upgrading emby to the latest stable but still have the same issue.Only errors I am seeing in the log pertain to what appear to be .xml files for device metadata Help would be greatly appreciated
Luke 37128
Hi, welcome. can you discuss an example of one that is missing? thanks.
Loadnabox 0
This entire path is missing but only accounts for ~12 missing videos, some videos are missing from other paths that contain files that are displayed. Between that and the (temporary) 777 permissions I don't believe that is it drwxrwxrwx 2 <U> <G> 22 Apr 15 03:33 . drwxrwxrwx 292 <U> <G> 293 Jul 30 18:26 .. -rwxrwxrwx 1 <U> <G> 639M Apr 15 03:31 Star Trek 1 - The Motion Picture.avi -rwxrwxrwx 1 <U> <G> 5.8K Apr 15 03:31 Star Trek 1 - The Motion Picture.jpg -rwxrwxrwx 1 <U> <G> 682M Apr 15 03:31 Star Trek 2- The Wrath of Khan.avi -rwxrwxrwx 1 <U> <G> 5.8K Apr 15 03:31 Star Trek 2- The Wrath of Khan.jpg -rwxrwxrwx 1 <U> <G> 614M Apr 15 03:31 Star Trek 3- The Search For Spock.avi -rwxrwxrwx 1 <U> <G> 5.7K Apr 15 03:31 Star Trek 3- The Search For Spock.jpg -rwxrwxrwx 1 <U> <G> 694M Apr 15 03:32 Star Trek 4- The Voyage Home.avi -rwxrwxrwx 1 <U> <G> 6.8K Apr 15 03:32 Star Trek 4- The Voyage Home.jpg -rwxrwxrwx 1 <U> <G>282M Apr 15 03:32 Star Trek 5- The Final Frontier.AVI -rwxrwxrwx 1 <U> <G> 4.7K Apr 15 03:32 Star Trek 5- The Final Frontier.jpg -rwxrwxrwx 1 <U> <G> 700M Apr 15 03:32 Star Trek 5- The Final Frontier.mpg -rwxrwxrwx 1 <U> <G> 676M Apr 15 03:32 Star Trek 6- Undiscovered Country.avi -rwxrwxrwx 1 <U> <G> 5.8K Apr 15 03:32 Star Trek 6- Undiscovered Country.jpg -rwxrwxrwx 1 <U> <G> 702M Apr 15 03:32 Star Trek 7- Generations.avi -rwxrwxrwx 1 <U> <G> 3.7K Apr 15 03:32 Star Trek 7- Generations.jpg -rwxrwxrwx 1 <U> <G> 589M Apr 15 03:32 Star Trek 8- First Contact.avi -rwxrwxrwx 1 <U> <G>5.5K Apr 15 03:32 Star Trek 8- First Contact.jpg -rwxrwxrwx 1 <U> <G> 701M Apr 15 03:33 Star Trek 9- Insurrection.avi -rwxrwxrwx 1 <U> <G> 5.9K Apr 15 03:33 Star Trek 9- Insurrection.jpg root@Ubuntu:/tank/videos/<snipped>/Movie/Star Trek Movies#
Luke 37128
what is the path that was added in server library setup and what content type was used?
Loadnabox 0
what is the path that was added in server library setup and what content type was used? I didn't delete or change any paths inside of emby Mostly I went in and changed videos that had been mis-identified (clicked the video then clicked identify) In a couple of cases I delete the actual file at the OS level of some videos that were corrupt/incomplete, however I have verified that I didn't delete anything that should have been kept. The missing videos still have the actual files where they should be but are not showing up in emby

Loadnabox 0
Thanks for the help Luke, perhaps I'm not explaining well. I didn't change or modify the library in the server setup. The path that has been there since the start is /tank/videos type Movies

Loadnabox 0
Please try the latest release of the server and let us know if that makes a difference, thanks. shutdown, upgraded, restarted, rescan library same deal still Is there a way to purge the entire DB and start from scratch? Luke 37128
You can delete the library.db file, but chances are it will be consistent and produce the same results. It will be better to look at more specific examples. i know you listed files earlier, but screenshots are easier to visualize. if you could post a screenshot of a movie folder as well as the parent folder so that we can see all contents, that would be great. thanks. Loadnabox 0
For privacy and security I edited out the username and another name that is part of the path. The name in the path is four letters long, all lower case, no punctuation

Luke 37128
I don't have any yet because at a glance everything looks fine. In order to get to the bottom of it I am going to have to setup a directory structure that matches yours exactly and test it out. I haven't had a chance to do that yet but it is on my list, so I will get to it.

Happy2Play 8314
The path that has been there since the start is /tank/videos type Movies To me it looks like it many be a nesting issue. /tank/videos/genre/movie/star trek movie
anderbytes 139
@@Loadnabox, some questions: - Do all the movies show up in Metadata Editor? - Do all the movies show up in Reports view? - Could you post a screen of entire movies view in Emby? - What movies show up and what don't? - Could you post some screens of Media Info of those movies (bottom of Item Details) ? - Do you have plugins installed ? AceBlade258 3
Having bumped into this again; I want to say that this happened to me as well, and I ended up having to completely reinstall the OS to resolve the issue. Was using Fedora 23 at the time.
attaboydave 2
If it were my library, I would try renaming and reorganizing using the guidelines ( https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Movie%20naming ) then rescanning. From my experience, if you can't pick up a good unambiguous match at "themoviedb.org" by searching with the listed file's name, it's probable that Emby won't either and will just skip it. To add to Happy2Play's thought above, Emby may even be trying to scape the folder name "star trek movie" and not finding a name match or files that would fit. Do you also have a TV folder under each genre? That may confuse things further. You may also want to find the .nfo xml descriptors for those files if they exist and delete them so Emby can try rescraping - I keep the metadata in the same folders, but yours may be stored in your programdata location ( possibly %appdata%/MediaBrowser-Server/data/metadata ) if you don't have "Save artwork and metadata into media folders" checked. I store the files in individual folders, and name the folders and files identically if I can, removing colons and troublesome characters: Star Trek (2009) \-Star Trek (2009).mp4 Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan (1982) \-Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan (1982).avi Star Trek III The Search for Spock (1984) \-Star Trek III The Search for Spock (1984).avi Star Trek Nemesis (2002) \-Star Trek Nemesis (2002).mkv Maybe I play it too safe? Anyway, my files aren't grouped quite how I would like (Trek reboot at the top? Preposterous!) but once Emby IDs them correctly I can add them to collections and shuffle them around, and change names in metadata from within Emby to enforce a sort order. Some abstraction may be necessary to use the tools effectively... Emby has metadata support for genres as well, and will ignore the folder organization you have set anyway. I used some third-party scrapers when first importing my library, but they wound up being more trouble to use than just renaming files and using Emby's internal ones to pull artwork and data. Hopefully I'm not too far off base with my suggestions - just speaking only from my hours of curating my library and using Emby. AceBlade258 3
One of my libraries is not showing up for watching? I just tried removing and re-adding it, and I am getting a bunch of notifications for new items, but still?
Luke 37128
Check user library access, also, ensure you're running the latest version of Emby Server (based on the screenshot you might not be). Thanks.
modd 1
Could it be that it is grouping them in a new folder . i noticed this happens for my music which kinda sucks but i'm dealing with it. it groups random music in a folder /album name and it's rap, rock, etc that should be in separate folders named rap, rock, punk etc under a folder named david as i have another users audio under her(my girl) name as well. I may have a flac and a mp3 copy though as i know it is not a perfect bunch of audio files. a way to get duplicates(same song mp3/flac and not live vs studio) out would be great . I'll have to read more on this program to get a way to fix stuff. also I have a movies folder for french films I'd like it to tag as such. they are in a folder movies/french/movie name/movie.
