Synced files question

Hi there,

I'm looking for a solution to give my parents access to my Emby server. They got a pretty poor Internet connection so streaming isn't really an option for watching content on the living room tv.

I thought the sync option might be a possibility. My mom already has the Android app so if I get Emby Premiere she should be able to sync stuff she wants to see and I can limit the bitrate to lets say 720p 4mbit so syncing doesn't take forever, correct?

From there on she can use the Android app to cast to the tv or maybe I'll have to buy a chromecast or something, that part should be OK.

But how does synced content show up in the android app? Does the file get stored somewhere after which you need to use a separate file explorer to open the file or is the Emby app smart enough to give you to option to stream or used a synced file or will synced files appears under the sync tab?

Edit: Github says Android and WP 8.1 support syncing, the premiere page says only WP 8.1 supports syncing. Which one is correct?

How about syncing from a web browser?

Right now you can sync with the Android App but need to use a separate file explorer to get to them if you are offline.

But, for your scenario, your Mom will still be online so the items will show up normally in her Android app and, when played, it will choose the synced copy.

2.9.32 is rolling out and supports offline browsing and playback. The feature is still very new so please make sure to leave your feedback and we will continue to improve it. Thanks !
