Windows 10 PRO 64bit, EMBY Server and Unraid movie server scanning issue

Mmmh I just upgraded my EMBY server to Windows 10 PRO 64 bits, to test any performance improvements. I noticed that when I connected to my unraid server, it did not ask me for any username or password, just lets me access the shares with no login requirements (which is not how it works through Windows 7).
I have added the shares to EMBY, and usually the scan would take around 30 minutes. It is now still going and it has been going for three hours. Scan seems to be stuck at 54%.
I followed the instructions here https://techjourney.net/cannot-connect-to-cifs-smb-samba-network-shares-shared-folders-in-windows-10/, and rebooted. Scan still stuck at 54%...

Should it take this long the first time you setup EMBY?

I followed the steps in the following guide
http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/10427-how-to-migrate-media-browser-server/

Now limiting the scan to my movies folders, with 3500 movies, and see if the scan completes. I removed my TV folders (150+ series) from the scan. No music folders included in the original scan. Interestingly the scan started at 54% (wich is wher it was stuck) when I started scanning the movie folder.

I too am running a Emby server on Windows 10 Pro 64 bits.  My movies/TV Series are stored on a FreeNAS server.  I have about 2500 movies and 150 TV Series.

I did a clean install of Windows 10 and then installed latest beta Emby server.  The scan took maybe 20 minutes to complete the 50TB or so that makes up my media collection.

I am already running the beta version. No difference for me. I am running Version 3.0.5675.1

Alright so I have now removed EVERYTHING from the library and adding a folder at the time (DIVX, then DVD rips, then Bluray rips etc) to isolate the issue.

The Divx folder is already at 66.2% in a few minutes scan, looking a little better...

With my collection (about 1500 HD movies and 75 HDTV series), it took quite a while for the first scan. It can also take an extremely long time depending on the settings you have chosen, like the amount of backdrops, actor images, chapter images, extra disk images, etc. I think mine took over a day to complete, but once it is done it will be much faster because it only checks for updates. Every once in a while you'll run into a file it doesn't like, which is why you should check the logs to see if it is getting stuck on something.

I unticked EVERYTHING in the metadata section of the server configuration, as I have already stored everything in each folder for each movie/tv series etc.

Now going again very slowly at 67.2% purely with the divx folder...

OK it finally completed the scan (2400 divx movie conversions), but I noticed that neither actors nor genres work... I then added the offline blurays, much quicker now. I do wonder if turning off the other metadata tabs (other than the basic tab which was already unticked) helped in speeding the process up...

I am running Version 3.0.5675.1.

Adding media to the library is taking much longer than I remember.

I had a look at the log file and I can see many errors reported

I guess all of these errors will take time to process the first time that a library is added..

Error in Emby Xml

Unexpected end of file has occurred. The following elements are not closed: Person, Persons, Title. Line 135, position 2.

It looks like your xml error is pointing to faulty/corrupt xml files.

I suspect that there may be some issues with Unraid and Windows 10.  I don't know that for sure but you said that when you initially updated, Unraid was not behaving properly.

Library is fully updated now, thanks for your replies! It just took a very long time.... Actors and Genres also working! It scanned again this morning and it took only 10 minutes to scan all the folders (3623 movies and 7841 episodes).
