Watched statuses not updating automatically since last update

A minor niggle, but an annoyance none the less.

 

With all previous versions, when we'd watched an episode of a TV series, it was automatically marked as watched in the WMC interface. Since updating to 3.0.5675.1 this no longer happens. We can mark it as watched manually pressing the clear button on the remote control of course and that works, but it is a bit of a pain having to do that with every TV episode we watch, when prior to this version it did it automatically.

 

Any ideas what could have caused this, or even better, how I can "fix" it?

And weirdly since posting this, the most recent episode we've watched DID update automatically, although the previous two this evening didn't. 

 

Now I'm really confused.
