Just what it sounds like.

I've looked at the logs, and i'm not finding any specific references to the issue.

It works just fine on my android device, but on Chrome and IE (on several computers), it just shows a blank screen and ... nothing. No video, no audio. Just nothing. (it does display the normal overlay stuff, though).

Windows Server 2012R2 Essentials

Xeon E3-1245v3 CPU, non-ECC RAM (32GBs).

Running off of a SSD

No antivirus installed.

Media stored on StableBit DrivePool.

Version: 3.0.5569.0

Again, try to play a video, it loads the player, but never plays the video.
Attempted again with "Forever (2014) Episode 1x19)", at approximately 1:24pm (if it helps).
(i've tried multiple files, of different types, even)

I've tried deleting the entire AppData folder and start from scratch, and it didn't help.

Yes, actually.

IIS8 with Application Request Routing/URL Rewrite modules.

And ... using the port directly does appear to work properly.

Which is ... really odd, as the android app is using port the reverse proxied site, not the default port

Have this same issue, using my internal IP works though. This thread helped. I really should use my internal address when I'm home..

For home it's fine, but that's not how my server is used for the most part. And I don't like having additional ports open. Especially when I can force everything to be done over HTTPS (without configuring mediabrowser and other stuff to use HTTPS themselves).

You're right, I can only play from home when typing my internal IP. HTTPS is also broken.

Users, including myself, are able to access the web app but can't play videos across the internet; ffmpeg doesn't even start server side. Using the android app works over the internet just fine, the Windows 8.1 app does not.

Is there a way to downgrade to before the update for the time being?

I think it's not even "requesting" the stream, so it's not starting ffmpeg.

If I knew the command the command/URL being called, I could see if IIS is blocking it (it blocks a huge list of resources by default).

But if you're not using IIS for the reverse proxy, then it's an issue with how MB/Emby is handling the web requests, and would most likely need to be fixed internally (Luke, do you have a status for this, are you looking into it, etc?)

As for downgrading... I tried that. And it immediately updated. :(

So short of blocking the mb3admin.com site (I think it was), it will update as soon as you start it again.

For troubleshooting purposes I tried to connect via app.Emby.media and it won't connect at all.

I do not use IIS, I have everything configured through MB and my router.

::Update::

I installed the server again and connect is working but the streaming issues are still present.

Is there any update on this?  I am having the same problem. It seems to be effecting my ability to playback on the Roku app as well.

This is where I would normally include a log, however Emby isn't creating a log when I attempt to stream from anything except the Android app or internally.

This means Emby isn't attempting to to start the transcoding process. I hope our tid bits of info are helping in some way.

I have the same problem. I first noticed it on my Roku app, but it's on all devices. I tried to set transcoding on the server to max quality and disabled throttling which had no effect at all on the playback quality.

Yes we'll be getting a server update out later today to address. Thanks for your patience.
