Redownloading subtitles for one specific show

Hello, I'm wondering how I can use Emby's automatic downloading for one specific show.

I had this tv series added to emby in the past, it had embedded subtitles at the time. I recently added higher quality versions of the same show, getting rid of the older files with embedded subtitles. But now after running the subtitles automatic task and manually telling the library to replace all metadata it isn't downloading the subtitles. I can do the manual search per episode and it finds them just fine. I have the VIP option with opensubtitles so I don't think I'm hitting the cap, and I glanced through the server logs and found plenty of "POST https://vip-api.opensubtitles.org/xml-rpc"entries without any errors. Along with a few entries where it successfully grabbed a couple of subtitles for some other items in my library.

I'm wondering if I am just going to need to completely remove the item from my library, let emby realize it's gone, and then add it back in.

When I replaced the older video files, it took the previous English subtitles out (they were embedded). The only subtitles that currently exist for the files aren't in English (also embedded). The library is configured to only download English subtitles, working fine for other items in the same library

Then check the subtitle download settings for the library. The filters you've chosen are probably too strict. You can use the manual subtitle downloader to confirm.

Well the only one I have checked is the Hash match, the other 2 about Skip if default audio track matches download language and Skip if the video already contains embedded subtitles are unchecked. Those have been my default settings since I installed Emby.

I guess if I'm worried about getting bad subtitles by not requiring hash matches I could just disable the hatch matching for a single scan and then enable it after it completes without causing issues, right?

That is the trade-off with the hash match setting that you will have to decide. Yes you could do that, or just download manually for these titles.
