Raptor6L 23
Hi all Had an issue crop up today around lunchtime. I opened up Theater and about 5 seconds later it closed itself. I then repeated it several times. I ended up uninstalling, downloading and reinstalling Theater and it then worked for me. It's now closing itself down again. Please see attached Server log, and 5 Theater logs where I've repeated this issue between 10:34 and 10:39. Help!?! Luke 36879
Hi, can you try rebooting your machine? Thanks.
Raptor6L 23
Hi Luke Couldn't try that last night as the machine was recording. Tried now, still doing it. Took about 10 seconds before it crapped out. Edited November 4, 2018 by Raptor6L
Raptor6L 23
Seems to be machine specific cause it isn't happening to Theater on my laptop, which leads me to think it probably isn't Theater related, but still very strange as it is the only program that crashes like this. Emby Server and WMC are both fine, and I can watch a video directly without any issues.
Luke 36879
What version of Windows?
Raptor6L 23
Hi Luke Win 8.1 with WMC addon. Both server and theater are on this same machine, and it's been pretty rock solid until this. Seriously, I have no idea what's going on. Prior to yesterday, no problem. Now, it just won't stay open, and I haven't touched the bloody thing. I thought I was onto something when i pulled the Microsoft MCE IR receiver and just controlled Emby with a mouse. It stay open a few times in a row. So I went and grabbed another mce receiver, plugged it in and nup still doing it. I then pulled that back out and just used the mouse again and it stay open a couple of times, and then it started crashing with just the mouse. It has just installed some windows updates, will restart have have another go... It's baffling - it's not happening on Theater elsewhere, but it's also not crashing anything else. Luke 36879
Is there anything in windows event viewer?
Solution Raptor6L 23 Posted November 4, 2018 Author Solution Share Posted November 4, 2018 Hold the phone!!! I think I just found it. Looks like Bitdefender Security was blocking "electron.exe" thinking it was some sort of ransomware. Scrolling back through the history I can see it quite a lot, dating back to a Bitdefender update that was done yesterday morning. Ha!!! I've provided an exception for it, and so far Emby now seems happy. Yep, a bit of testing done and I'd say that was the culprit.
