For the life of me I cant get them to play. Doesn't matter if I'm using my 3D iso rips or folder rips, just comes to the uMCEPlayer screen and doesn't find anything to play. Playing from TMT6 normal player (not launching from mediabrowser) works fine...what the hell am I missing here?

Do you use UNC paths to the movie folders?

I had this problem, but it was because on of my HDD's where not setup with UNC. Is it only with external player it won't work?

I have the same experience - TMT fails to play. I suspect it's due to the ISO mounter. In TMT setup it seems to want a specfic drive letter which the ISO mounter doesn't provide. I have yet to try with VCD mounting to a specific drive letter, but I think that would work if anyone can confirm.

The iso mounter in MBT doesn't create a virtual drive.  I have the same set up, using the same configuration and it work with out issue.  What OS are you running?

Is your media on a separate server or on a dedicated drive attached to HTPC? Can you post a SS of your media paths?

I have a dedicated machine that has a couple of raid 5 arrays with MediaBrowser Server running on it. So there aren't any shared drives at that point. The drives themselves have UNC shares on them from when I was running MediaBrowser 2.

The internal player seems to work fine. I haven't tested MBT on my actual HTPC (holds nothing, just plays the movies in my living room) was just setting it up on my main computer for testing. I did try to run Media Browser Classic on my HTPC and after setting up the external play in the configurator and launching MBC the movies wouldn't launch at all. I'd get the tone saying I was pushing the play button but it wouldn't launch anything.

I have also tried this with the ISO mounter disabled in MBTand get the same results.

Ahhh I see what you mean about UNC paths now. The server passes the path to the client and the client needs the UNC name instead of the local drive letter on the server. Appreciate your help here. I did a little test with it here at work and it looks like uMCEPlayer is loading but the screen is black. Probably something to do with this system so I'll test more at home tonight.

Thanks all.

Also, has anyone run 3D iso's from the internal player? In other words, is there really a need for an external player?

The MBT player works very well but is still relatively new and very raw. Most external players are very mature but conversely are very locked down due to licensing constraints (i.e. HDCP etc).

The external player will give you

Movie Menus

previews

FBI warnings etc.

consistent subtitles

consistent Audio behavior (ie DTS out of the box if supported)

copy protection issues (unless you have AnyDVDHD)

Auto switching to 24fps if you like..

The internal player will give you

main movie only

no menus

no bluray annoyances like warnings, forbidden actions..

the "scenes" feature works well but cant pull images from iso's yet

better control over audio selection (via LAV)

inconsistent subtitles - I have images that work fine and others that wont show any subtitles at all.

DTS but only if you copy dtsencoderdll.dll from TMT ( LAV issue)

no copy protection issues (depends on how you rip your images.  Cinavia CP still needs to be tested)

no switching to 24fps unless you use an external program.

What I did find is that I needed to run MB Server on my HTPC with MBT for the audio stream to work correctly (the media is still on my Media server).  If I ran MB Server from my Media server, MBT on my HTPC would only stream .aac audio to my HTPC and pcm to my receiver.  This is probably and LAV issue with MBT and how it streams but having them both run on the same box solved the issue

The next stop is a plugin that permits the use of an external ISO mounting program that is supported by AnyDVD. This will give you the best of both worlds.  MBT meta data and  menu navigation with a mature player that can make use of AnyDVD to remove those annoyances on  blurays today ( i.e. warnings, forbidden actions, Cinavia)  but still give you the disk menus.

Quick question here. I have two HTPC's, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. Will it allow me to install the MB server to both HTPC's or will it throw fits?

I have AnyDVDHD as well. So at this time that function isn't working without someone making a plugin for it?

Looks like you sorted it out, but as long as you specify "localhost" when you configure MBT it will access the server running on that specific HTPC
