Hello,

I'm identified an issue with the transcoder on Roku (public and beta client as well) and I'm getting this error message: An unexpected problem (but not server timeout or HTTP error) has been detected.

If I'm disabling the transcoding then everything is ok.

Logs attached.

It looks to be an issue with subtitles according to the log. Not that surprising.

Indeed in DirectPlay the subtitle is not working on Roku as well.

I've tried with Emby web and everything is fine, the subtitle is working ok (see attached).

Tested with the Plex app on Roku and:

Transcoding: OK

DirectPlay: OK

I'm guessing that there is nothing wrong with subtile or I'm missing something?

@@Luke ping me if you need the subtitle file or the media in order to troubleshoot.

Also it will be great if this will not require transcoding as it can be played as DirectPlay, the transcoder is triggered only due to subtitle :)

Thanks guys!

@@shocker Please try the 3.3.0.2 beta when available and let me know if the issue remains, thanks.

Tested with the latest Roku Beta app and now the movie is starting with subtitle but the diacritics are not supported.

Just to confirm, this new font will be added in the next beta release, right? If not to create my font replacing script after every update :)

Awesome! Thanks Luke.

Any plans to support this type of subtitle with DirectPlay? I think this is the only missing thing on Roku as all other devices can already handle this :)

We already do, but Roku does not support non-latin characters and therefore your language is excluded. You would have to first take that feature request to Roku.

It might be worth re-evaluating to see if anything has changed. you could try forcing the direct play with user transcoding permissions as a test.

Tested again and the subtitle is not loaded without transcoding.

If I'm opening the same video with the same subtitle via the plex roku app is working ok with directplay and latin characters, check my post #4

it might require work in the app. @@ebr we might not need that language list anymore that we're using as a filter. Either that or perhaps just add his.
