So I had the old MediaBrowser for WMC. Then today when I upgraded everything and installed the Emby for WMC my Skip Forward and Skip Backward buttons don't do anything. The queue bar pops up just like it does if I hit the Play button. I went into the Configuration and the "Default Skip Forward Amount (seconds)" is set to 60 and the "Default Skip Back Amount (seconds)" is set to 10--which is what I had it before I upgraded. I also unchecked "Use Custom Player Interface" which enables the traditional WMC player interface where the Skip Forward and Skip Backward buttons works fine! Also after enabling the traditional WMC player interface, it's more responsive when resuming or playing a video from the start. The newer interface also now doesn't start right away and then I hear the sound and then it stops and restarts again when the video starts playing. What could be causing this now? Thanks!! :)

This is probably all related to your configuration on the network and the server.  It sounds like the EMC machine does not have direct access to your media locations (as defined on the server) so it is streaming the playback which will cause very limited functionality and quality.

Please see the "Optional Network Paths" section here: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Library%20Setup

Ok but all my media is located on local drives on the same computer that the server is running on. There is no network shares as there is no media being accessed on a network drive. I'm playing the videos on the same computer where the server is and where the media is, there's no playing over the network.

It could also be a codec issue.  Please post an Emby for WMC log after playing something with this problem.  Instructions below.

Thanks.

How to Report a Problem

Ok I'll try that. But this happens only with the new player, not the built-in WMC classic controls. And it happened only after upgrading to the new Emby WMC add-on. So if it was a codec issue you'd think the symptoms would be present everywhere.

How to Report a Problem

Ok, this forum doesn't allow attaching files or pasting the log contents so please find it here on my shared onedrive link: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AtCvjyNXlxq4jaJx3rPHMs1aHmgQ9A

I deleted all the other logs and restarted so it would be smaller.

SO here's the thing I just found out by accident. The very first video I play, I can skip forward/rewind and it works perfectly. Then if I stop it and play it again, or another video, it doesn't work again. So then I closed Emby for WMC and restarted it, and the first video played works for skipping forward again and sequential ones don't. So I hope that helps! Really weird.

Hit the "More Reply Options" button.  See "How to Post Log Files" here: How to Report a Problem

The link above does not work.

Thanks.

Here it is. So I cleared the logs, then loaded Emby for WMC, played a video, skipped ahead without problems. Stopped it, then replayed it and it doesn't skip ahead any more.

There are errors about the database being locked. If i had to guess, it sounds like you're simultaneously running emby server from both the windows service and the tray icon at the same time. or it might be running simultaneously under two different windows user accounts.

i would suggest re-configuring the windows service to not be automatic, then reboot your machine. once you work this out it should resolve both issues. Thanks.

LOL you're a genius awesome thanks! The service wasn't working properly and for some reason it started working again, so that's why. I left the service running as that was preferable over the tray server agent. Forwarding works, videos are marked as played now! Thanks!
