jachin99 82
I rebuilt the server, and even went as far as deleting all of the theme videos but I get the same behavior. Could this be a wierd file permissions issue? I ask because around the same time that I got MCE remote commands working (Which I believe was a access control issue), the theme videos started working. I have my movies folder network path in Emby for WMC, and I have shared the folder over the network through homegroup but i didn't share the actual drive that it resides on. Is this additional drive share setup something I should try?
ebr 14862
I kinda doubt it but I guess at this point anything is worth a shot .
Solution jachin99 82 Posted August 30, 2017 Author Solution Share Posted August 30, 2017 I changed a few different settings for sharing that drive, and suddenly this, and about four other problems all dissapeared. I am tempted to write up a good 'ole internet how to about all of my problems because this has been such a headache but what I believe it all boils down to is either A. Pointing emby server to the NETWORK location of your media drive (along with entering the UNC path) is the only correct way to setup your media library OR B. Because windows seven shares differently depending on weather you share a drive, or a folder; AND wether you you use the sharing wizard or choose to share through advanced sharing. Either way, to get my setup working, I shared the entire drive using the ADVANCED SHARING option by right clicking the drive, and selecting properties, then the sharing tab (Which gives you access to the advanced sharing menu), then advanced sharing, and clicked the share this drive option. (If this doesn't work, let me know because there may be a glitch you have to work around in Win 7). In Emby Server, I removed my old movies folder, then closed the webpage and reopened it, then I added my movies folder that resided on my network BY SELECTING THE NETWORK DRIVE OPTION LOCATED AT THE BOTTOM OF TH LIST. And problem solved. I'm sorry about all of the caps but when I was first reading through this thread, I missed some things here and there that could probably save me a lot of trouble. I appriciate the Emby staff taking the time to work with me on this as well
Luke 36884
@@jachin99, we recommend pointing emby server to the direct media location, so if it's on the same machine as the server, the direct folder path. For example, c:\videos. Then you can use the optional network path field to enter the corresponding network share path. if the media is on another machine in the network then yes this that is the best approach. Thank you for your patience. a lot of these new Emby features came after Emby for WMC was created, and given it's ties to Media Browser 2 it has often been difficult to add new things to it. jachin99 82
I have one or two other odds and ends to work out but most of that involves sending emails. After that I can start making changes to try and narrow down an exact working configuration. I'm just glad someone out there still thinks of Windows Media Center. The other problems I was refering to in my answer were: Changing file, and folder icons in the coverart plugin settings would not change them on any of the emby clients, including those installed on the local machine, and (this is what lead me to my fix) the next chapter buttons would not work on my remote. I'm still a little confused though about why I sign into emby connect in order to sign into my server locally. I know I can just manually add the IP, and Port or whatever but what do I gain out of signing into emby connect?
