Can't play DVD movies, only Blu-ray MKV working?

Hi everyone, first big thanks to the team behind Media Browser!!! Been using this for a while now and have been looking forward to MBT as I started to move into Blu-ray and MB2 wouldn’t handle that on its own….so on to my question.

 

I’ve installed the latest version of MB3 Server and installed MBT on two PC’s, both Windows 7 64bit and can’t seem to play any of my DVD movies, only the Blu-ray MKV rips work? The error is something to do with DirectShow I think, I have a screenshot of the error attached. Soon as you hit play the error comes up but what is odd is the movie seems to be playing in the background, you can hear the sound track and on one PC I could see the movie playing behind the MBT GUI. When you click ok on the error the PC crashes, get a pop up stating MBT has stopped working and the PC in unresponsive.

 

Before I do anything else I wanted to ask if this is an issue with the (pre) alpha or something I should be able to fix on the Windows OS side of the house? Anyone else having this error??

Hi, I see I'm getting the same error as above today. It was working fine for DVD Rips (VIDEO_TS) in an earlier version. Not sure which earlier version that was though...

Same error / issue here. But, DVD Folder playback was working on previous versions of MBT, so here's hoping it can be squared away and an update will be out soon.

After the last update of Version 3.0.5083.27698 which I believe was a day ago, I also am getting the same error as listed above. MKV and MOV files play fine.

There are never any eta's, sorry. In order to keep us moving as efficiently as possibly, any task that i can offload should be offloaded. so another contributor is looking at this, actually the same person who caused the issue. so it will get done on his time. if we were at a release level there would be more urgency, but that's what happens at alpha level i'm afraid.

DVD Folder Rips playing again. Although the progress bar and video length appears to be wonky. It shows 00:00 as length and as a result the progress bar shows 100% played. MKVs etc still playing fine with proper length/progress bar.

Good to know it just was not something odd on my set up, I know this is very early preview so no problem.... can't wait till all these bits come together, looks like Media Browser 3 will become the best solution

Has this fix been released yet at dev/beta level?  I'm at 3.0.5086.905 and still getting this error, just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed something. Thanks!

the mbt update depends on the upcoming server release so that's why you don't have it yet.

Thanks so much Luke!  Was just making sure I hadn't done something in my setup to mess it up .  Thank you so much and to the other contributors for all your work on this.  It's outstanding even in the early stages!

I'm looking forward to this getting fixed also. Of my movie collection, 500+ of them are dirty VOB rips

Yeah, all of my rips 1500+ are in a folder structure (Both Bluray and DVD). There's no play option until you drill into the folders and play the individual files. Really loving the progress on this though. Great stuff.
