Dashboard Misreporting Transcode as Direct Playing on Roku Clients

This seems to be happening after the most recent Roku app update, never noticed it previously on the old one.

Dashboard shows direct playing, movie is being transcoded.

I do see some errors in the transcode log, so maybe it is not being reported correctly for the file being played, IDK.

I had read something related to this in another thread, so if this is already known and fixed in the beta release or something of the sort, just let me know.

Currently running the stable server.

Logs/pic attached.

Seems to be pretty constant, I have two users with Roku's on the new app, and they both do it with various media.

I can test or provide many more details if/as needed.

Regardless of what is chosen for the global video quality in the app (this log is from an "auto" setting), I see this on the dashboard.

With the quality set to Auto nearly everything transcodes, so I set the quality setting to 60Mbps  (honestly didn't try others that's way more than any of bit rate on any media I have) and it plays all of my media direct. But then I have dedicated wired gigabit Ethernet to all my devices.

For my use case (these external users) direct would be a very bad thing, however fortunately that seems to be working as expected, just that the reporting is off on the dashboard.

Thanks for the report. We'll take a look at this.

Thanks.

Let me know if I can be of any help/provide further details.

I have about 4 different Roku models that connect to my server if it makes a difference (unless it is a probe on the media file/transcode, however I don't notice this with other clients).

Please test this with the latest beta (3.0.33).  Thanks.

@@ebr I can confirm that this issue is fixed in 3.0.33, in comparison to 3.0.24.

Thanks for fixing this, any idea when this beta will get pushed to stable?

Something I did notice however is that the reporting of version is still a bit odd, or it is showing me a version at times that I don't understand.

When the file is playing, both versions (.24 and .33) show as (for this model) Roku SG 3.0.7.

However when disconnected it shows the correct software version.

See the 3 pics, one each of the playback, and one showing the correct versions listed.

So what does "3.0.7" mean? The software version on the Roku is 7.6.0, build 4120, so it isn't that.

We believe the version anomaly is something on the server end that we just haven't tracked down yet.
