A couple navigation enhancement suggestions

In the A-Z section of libraries, it would be nice to hit the left direction button to quickly get to the full list for each alpha.

In the Live TV guide can we add support for the page up/down Roku buttons?

Thanks for listening!

Sorry, don't understand this one...

When I'm looking for a movie by alpha that ends near the end of the alpha, as in Guardians of the Galaxy on the "G" row, I hit the right-arrow on the Roku controller but Emby only displays the first 24 videos, then I have to click "Show More" to get to the full menu for G and basically start my navigation all over.

It would be great if a single left-arrow press gets you to the same full listing of videos for that letter, in this example for "G".

Perhaps many people don't have the voluminous library that I do! :)

Okay, well, that would probably be fairly un-intuitive for most people :).  Another option would be to put the "More" at the front (and probably call it "All").  Or, just have a grid with letter jumps instead - which is probably where we are eventually heading.

Can you make the left arrow goto the end of the list?  Right now for example to get to something at the end of a letter you have to keep hitting the right arrow until you find it, if you could hit left arrow to go the other way working from last then going forward would be faster if you know what you are looking for is closer to the end of a letter then the beginning.

This is a good, intuitive option!  So the left arrow goes to the end of the list, which is the "Show More" option and gets you into the full alpha listing with two clicks.

@@ebr I have another one:  Can the Roku Page Up/Down buttons actually skip between chapters?  Right now they perform the same action as the left and right direction arrows, which is FF/RW.

So 2 enhancement suggestions for these buttons in this thread:

1. Live TV Guide Page up/down

2. Play any video = chapter backward/forward

That would be most awesome!!!

Where do you have page up/down buttons?

@@ebr these are actually the FF/RW buttons on the Roku - see screenshot.  Using these when navigating in menus will page up/page down, which is a request I have for the Live TV Guide, but I was also wondering if these can be used to chapter-skip during playback, while the Roku left-right arrows would continue to serve as FF/RW for the Emby Roku app.

Ah, okay.  We can look at the paging in lists but we are not allowed to change any of the transport behavior during playback.

Ah, okay.  We can look at the paging in lists but we are not allowed to change any of the transport behavior during playback.

Fair enough, figured it would be worth the ask!  Having these buttons page up/down in lists would definitely be a major plus!  For the Live TV Guide, it can take many clicks to scroll down from the first channel, like 702 for me, to a later channel like 762.  If each FF/RW click pages up/down to the next set of channels that turns five (5) clicks into one! :)  (and yes I do realize you can hold down on the up/down buttons)

Also, I realize we shouldn't do multiple suggestions in one thread (will be sure to not do that anymore), but any thoughts on @@dcook's suggestion for navigating to the end of the A-Z lists?

As a temporary solution, that will be okay (but will require a slightly different behavior with focus).  As stated previously, the end goal will probably be to eliminate the view altogether and just have letter jumping in a grid.

Paging in the TV guide and wrap around in the by letter view both went out in yesterday's beta - FYI.

@@ebr  the moving left to the end of the list is broken again, it was working yesterday or the day before fine, but now when you press the left arrow to get to the end of the list quickly instead it just says "show more" and you have to click on that and then it takes up the whole screen.

Can you please change it back the way it was?

Nothing changed.  The "More" item is the last one in the row if you have more than the row will hold.

I did not see the More option before, I think this is a recent change in the past few versions, previously when you pressed left it would goto the end of the list, now it goes to the More link.

Can you just make the left arrow goto the end of the list directly?  Why do we need to press on more first?  It does not make sense.

Also can you do the same for Episodes?  For example if there are 22 episodes and I want to watch Episode 22 I have to press the right arrow 21 times before I can select it.

If you make the left arrow go to the end, then I can just press the left arrow 1 time and it would be on Episode 22 right away.

There probably just weren't enough items in your list before for a "More" item to be created.  It has always been there.  You don't have to click it.  Just keep going left...

You do have to click it, because by going left its not taking you to the end of the list, its somewhere in the middle.

Can you just make it goto the last item and then move backwards?  Why do we need the more button?  It did not exist in the old app and you could move backwards and forward just fine.

I'm going to need to see a picture or something.  Nothing in the app has changed in several days and the functionality you are referring to (at least that I think you are) is stock behavior of Roku - it isn't something we have coded.  Maybe you are talking about something else...?

@@ebr OK, I will take photos to show you.

Also pushing the * button to get to the login screen quickly like you suggested only works from the home screen, if you are inside a library or viewing an episode list of a show pressing the * button does nothing.  And it takes you to a settings screen and then you have to still press on switch user.

So it seems the best solution to get back to the login screen quickly is to press the Home button and then launch the app again which then takes you directly to the login screen.  Which seems stupid, I should not have to close the app and launch it again just to be able to switch users quickly.

Can you make one of the other buttons on the remote go directly to the login screen regardless of what screen you are currently viewing?

The objective is to be able to switch users with the least amount of button pushes.

As I recall the old app allowed you to go back to the login screen much more quickly and you didn't have to close the app and reopen it.

@@dcook I cannot replicate your issue.  On alpha rows where I have more than 23 entries, the left direction button scrolls to the end of the row, which is always "Show More," and from there you can scroll backward thru the row.  On alpha rows where I DON'T have 24+, the left direction button correctly does nothing.

But isn't that method going to be much quicker than what you are requesting (backing all the way out of the app to the login screen) anyway?
