Can you provide a specific example and server log. Is this all media or just new media?

What I understand is that the version of the "Emby for Fire TV" app did not have a certain update to run functionally, which is why we are having this problem. I think that's it. We have to wait for the version of the "Emby" App to be released for the Fire Stick TV Lite device, when? I don't know, they didn't give a date for solving the problem...

This is not possible. How can I acquire an original AC3 track for a release done by the Scene? Also, it defeats the purpose of having Emby transcode/manager stuff for me in the first place. For Direct Play we had Kodi to begin with. This issue will always come back, AV1 hasn't superseded HEVC as of yet. But trust me it will. AV1+Opus makes all the sense. Not only for streaming data but for storage since it occupies less space.

Okay I didn't think the error about deleting the temp folder really meant anything. Looks like this is a problem with transcoding the ASS subs, but it might be doing something that you can only see with some debug options enabled. If you have the Diagnostics Plugin installed try setting the trasncoding log level to debug information, hit save, reproduce the issue and provide the logs. Otherwise my recommendation is to get some SRT subs for this and you should be able to watch it just fine, those don't need to be burned in to the video. That's how it works when transcoding, it creates a "playlist" of TS files and it reads from the playlist, requesting TS segments when needed.

So why not just insert an AC3 track and make it the default audio track like I suggested earlier in the thread ? A little time invested preparing media, pays dividends later on because it direct plays.

Sorry, unfortunately I only noticed your answer today. I installed and configured the QNAP on an empty hard drive. Then I reinstalled Emby and I believe restored from Emby backup and adjusted the deposits for the media folders. In the meantime, I also noticed that when I selected "Highest permitted age rating" - De-18/FSK-18 for the user accounts and certain users under the parental controls, that many other films and series are not displayed in this user account. If I don't select any information in the respective user account, they will still be displayed.

Just tested the container with 'true' (no quotes, no large T) and can confirm that the flag still isn't added, unfortunately. I've installed the 4.8.4.0 (restarted the server and update started). But I'm not sure to see the issue solved. Is there any option to activate to avoid re-recording of already present episode in other libraries?

Looks like your ffmpeg isn't working. Not familiar with synology for what you might need to do here but I guess you need to install an openCL package to get this SO. /var/packages/EmbyServer/target/bin/ffmpeg: error while loading shared libraries: libOpenCL.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Your TV is on your local network though isn't it? So you should be skipping emby connect and using the LAN address.

I am trying to set this up now. When I drop a movie into the watch folder, not only does it move it to a special library that is "mixed" instead of the one I designated as movies, it does not rename it as requested. Probably something simple I am missing. Ideas?

Emby enabled AV1 almost 2 years before Plex. They don't care about adding this stuff anymore. They were the last to allow AV1 to playback when even Kodi had it. Plex's business now is to add features that nobody asked to spy/sell on its users' data to their economic advantage. @ebr told me that on December, 21. 2022. Since then three different major releases of FFmpeg have been made. Since we are talking about two open/royalty-free codecs (AV1 + Opus) Maybe something has changed. I remember reading back then that future iterations of FFmpeg could sort this out I know that Emby still uses FFmpeg 5.1.x, the LTS one, even on the beta server version. But if someone is willing to send me an experimental beta emby server with FFmpeg 7.0 baked in I will be willing to start my server all over again to test it. And for last. I have files on my server done by myself with AV1 + AC3 to avoid this issue. But everything else on the web will be AV1 + Opus (multichannel). The Scene went with this combo of open codecs years ago.

Aha. Interesting. I did not know that. Maybe the m3u8 reference in your log file is a result of the encoding to the temporary cache directory. It would be nice to have that directory set to a separate, newer hard drive that is reasonable fast and make sure there is enough room. A completely different drive for the transcoding directory, separate from any library, would make the transcoding interfere less with pulling library media. Does someone know how Emby uses m3u8 files? I never run transcoding at all and so I never run into this.

Updated to 4.8.4.0 when adding a movie and after running Scan Media Libray and Scan Meta folder the movie will show up but won't give you any info for the movie Like Video audio or subtitles.

Ups, I fixed it. .19 is stable abnd .20 is beta. But you can try 10.X, the issue should be solved by this version. Usually public testing has no major bugs in standard functionalities. Only new added features are not too good tested.

The delay until rollout is fine it is quite an edge case, but something that happens for me quite a bit, when a superior format version of a particular TV episode gets added and an older format gets deleted. But now I know that when this happens, I need to go to Kodi and Repair the Library before sitting down to watch the episode, so that I don't have to wait several minutes for it to sort itself out So I have a workaround "process". Just curious: the 9.x.x release thread says that 9.4.19 is Beta, and 9.4.15 is Stable. Is that still the case? Or is 9.4.19 now rated Stable?

There are some infos in the FAQ about the versions. Public testing is currently the only version working with Kodi 21. For Kodi 20 stable or beta is fine.

Sounds like a Kodi issue, the plugin is not the player. It just provides Kodi with an URL (addonmode) or filepath (native mode). Playback is Kodi's duty.

1. This is part of the url string (the url filename) and is correct in addon mode. 2. The actual filename is attached at the end of the url's filename to keep Kodi "happy". So nothing wrong here. btw, the actual filename is not "Allo_Allo_S01E01___The_fallen_Madonna.mkv" it's "supergirl.s03e08.1080p.HDTV.x264_PLUTONIUM.mkv" and I doubt the subtitle downloader would find that one even it's only labeled like that. On the other hand, if you label your files accurate, subtitle downloader is mostly capable to download even with the extra url-parameters.

Yes but I believe EBR expalined that in regards to the HLS stream, it is/was still not possible with AV1. HEVC is a totally different codec. Using it as a reason to beleive that AV1 will work is like asking "why can't I put petrol in my Tesla? It's a car, and all cars run on petrol" The fact Plex is also having a serious problem, with the amount of resources they have, should tell you that it's not a problem with the software, but with the video codec itself. Again I would just process my files before adding them to my server. Many of us already go through the process of cutting out redundant audio and sub tracks, or even re-encoding things to save space prior to adding them to our servers.

I also have an issue with my firestick Lite which I dont have on any others. If I login with connect, it takes me to the other options screen. If I select change server I see the server but which I select it it goes back to the other options. If I log in manually from there it works but when I come back in I have to log in manually again. Is this an issue with the LITE version?

I have it set to only play local trailers. So the quality isn't the issue for me. What ever algorithm is being used isn't working, or if it is.......................... it's just plain terrible. There is no randomness to it as far as I can see. I can't play the same movie time and time again (I've tested this) and it will play the same 5 trailers every time. What is the point of that? I am pretty close to disabling it. Such a shame too. I have spent hours and hours tracking down trailers to save them to my library. Such a sad waste of time.
