j55555 1
Hello, I recently switched from Emby for Kodi to Emby-Next-Gen with the release of Kodi 19. As suggested I did a full reinstall of Kodi, and installed Emby-Next-Gen. initial Sync works fine, however it never seems to sync after that, so new episodes/series, watch statuses, etc do not update. Any ideas? I've searched the forums and haven't seen much along this topic which leads me to believe i'm somehow the only one. Only other thing of note is that for some reason addon-default as a setting did not function after the reinstall, and it functioned fine previously. Data & Emby server itself are local to this server. Running Kodi 19 on Manjaro Linux, Using the non-beta Emby-Next-Gen
quickmic 1308
First thing to check is the socket-communication. Can you send messages from Emby-Server to the Kodi client?
j55555 1
Thanks for the response! Anything in particular I should do to send that?
quickmic 1308
No, just send a text message and check it it's shown on Kodi.
j55555 1
Hey Quickmic, thanks for the response again and sorry for the delay! I'm definitely too dense to figure that out myself at the moment. any other hints on how to trigger that?
j55555 1
I actually found a response from you in a different thread which showed how/where to do this. I sent a test message and.. it worked? I'm going to install the beta version of the addon and see if that fixes something.

Install the experimental version from the first post of the preview thread . That build has the most recent fixes and for me is synchronising very fast and is more than stable enough for daily use. j55555 1
I just reinstalled kodi 19 from scratch, then installed the beta emby-next-gen (version 5.2.05) It then prompted me to login as the only use that is defined in Emby, but clicking it would just bring it back up again. to test I created another user in emby, and clicked manually sign in in emby-next-gen, this let me login with the username and password i had created. from here a popup stating there was an emby-next-gen error and to check the log. Log shows this, noteably self.socket.bind(self.server_address) OSError: [Errno 98] Address already in use really not sure why this would be coming up 2021-04-07 08:42:07.431 T:980864 INFO <general>: INFO: EMBY.core.connection_manager: Begin connectToServers, with 1 servers 2021-04-07 08:42:07.431 T:980864 INFO <general>: INFO: EMBY.core.connection_manager: testing connection mode 2 with server motherbase 2021-04-07 08:42:07.431 T:980864 INFO <general>: INFO: EMBY.core.connection_manager: tryConnect url: http://192.168.8.89:8096/emby/system/info/public 2021-04-07 08:42:07.436 T:980864 INFO <general>: INFO: EMBY.core.connection_manager: calling onSuccessfulConnection with connection mode 2 with server motherbase 2021-04-07 08:42:07.445 T:980827 INFO <general>: Loading skin file: /home/jeff/.kodi/addons/plugin.video.emby-next-gen/resources/skins/default/1080i/script-emby-connect-users.xml, load type: LOAD_ON_GUI_INIT 2021-04-07 08:42:07.449 T:980827 ERROR <general>: Control 155 in window 13000 has been asked to focus, but it can't 2021-04-07 08:42:08.998 T:980864 INFO <general>: INFO: EMBY.helper.utils.Utils: DeviceId loaded: 9610872c-9bab-483a-b362-93da90dffe8a 2021-04-07 08:42:09.010 T:980827 INFO <general>: Loading skin file: /home/jeff/.kodi/addons/plugin.video.emby-next-gen/resources/skins/default/1080i/script-emby-connect-login-manual.xml, load type: LOAD_ON_GUI_INIT 2021-04-07 08:42:45.278 T:980837 INFO <general>: CActiveAESink::OpenSink - initialize sink 2021-04-07 08:42:45.296 T:980837 INFO <general>: PulseAudio: Opened device alsa_output.pci-0000_01_00.1.hdmi-stereo in pcm mode with Buffersize 150 ms Periodsize 50 ms 2021-04-07 08:42:45.478 T:980827 WARNING <general>: CGUIWindowManager - HandleAction - ignoring action 0, because topmost modal dialog closing animation is running 2021-04-07 08:42:45.561 T:981125 ERROR <general>: Unable to find plugin plugin.program.autocompletion 2021-04-07 08:42:45.561 T:981125 ERROR <general>: GetDirectory - Error getting plugin://plugin.program.autocompletion/?info=autocomplete&&id=jeff&&limit=9 2021-04-07 08:42:53.077 T:980864 INFO <general>: INFO: EMBY.core.connection_manager: Begin connect 2021-04-07 08:42:54.079 T:980864 INFO <general>: INFO: EMBY.core.connection_manager: Found Servers: [{'Address': 'http://192.168.8.89:8096', 'Id': '5689aabed2d84a49b3b355e620d4ff31', 'Name': 'motherbase'}] 2021-04-07 08:42:54.080 T:980864 INFO <general>: INFO: EMBY.core.connection_manager: Begin connectToServers, with 1 servers 2021-04-07 08:42:54.080 T:980864 INFO <general>: INFO: EMBY.core.connection_manager: testing connection mode 2 with server motherbase 2021-04-07 08:42:54.080 T:980864 INFO <general>: INFO: EMBY.core.connection_manager: tryConnect url: http://192.168.8.89:8096/emby/system/info/public 2021-04-07 08:42:54.085 T:980864 INFO <general>: INFO: EMBY.core.connection_manager: calling onSuccessfulConnection with connection mode 2 with server motherbase 2021-04-07 08:42:54.089 T:980864 INFO <general>: INFO: EMBY.emby.main: User is authenticated. 2021-04-07 08:42:54.099 T:981138 INFO <general>: INFO: Emby.core.ws_client: --->[ websocket ] 2021-04-07 08:42:54.108 T:980864 INFO <general>: INFO: EMBY.hooks.monitor.Monitor: --[ post capabilities/5689aabed2d84a49b3b355e620d4ff31 ] 2021-04-07 08:42:54.116 T:980864 INFO <general>: INFO: EMBY.hooks.monitor.Monitor: [ Server Online ] 2021-04-07 08:42:54.121 T:980864 ERROR <general>: EXCEPTION Thrown (PythonToCppException) : -->Python callback/script returned the following error<-- - NOTE: IGNORING THIS CAN LEAD TO MEMORY LEAKS! j55555 1
OK i did a few more fresh reinstalls of Kodi & the beta addon, to what I think is some success right now. One thing I did notice, is that it wouldn't actually let me sign in with an account that doesn't have a password. It would keep coming up to the login page. I added a password to my default account, and it logs in fine. So far so good on the synchronizing, can probably close this one out as a ?? and i'll re-make another thread if this is happening again. I think this is largely chalked up to kodi19 being kind of janky

j55555 1
Regrettably not exactly. After a series of full uninstalls & reinstalls of both kodi & the addon (using beta or normal branch), it started working ok. It doesn't seem to be due to an update for kodi or the addon, just sheer luck, or me somehow missing removing something before the last time, but since the last post of mine in April everything has been smooth as butter. Best of luck
