Aliamir37 1
Based on the Samsung documentations, Q80T supports video level 5.2, but my Emby app (latest version installed with USB) says this level is not supported and transcodes the video. Is there any solution for this? FrostByte 5024
It's just the premium sets that support 5.2. So you would not only have to check for Tizen >= 5.5 (2021 sets also), but also check the model

Can you please port your media info for this file? My understanding is it's 5.2 for x265/HEVC but still only 5.1 for x264 What file are you trying to play? 1 hour ago, FrostByte said: So you would not only have to check for Tizen >= 5.5 (2021 sets also), but also check the model This might be tricky. We can get the model, but decoding that would be painful. I haven't seen a method to get the model group but I'll have another look. 1

Happy2Play 8139
So it is above the spec limit per the codec. @Aliamir37 H.264 UHD: Level 5.1 supported. But this is the second recent topic on the issue of 5.2 in H264. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/96161-transcoding-whats-should-be-direct-play-4k-very-slow Edited March 19, 2021 by Happy2Play
SamES 880
Can you confirm that it does play correctly without transcoding (ie: from a USB drive connected directly to the TV)

I think you are right it supports level 5.2 only for x265. Another question, since it has to transcode, is there anyway to move the timeline of video on tv? I only have 10s forward and backward in TV but in PC I can select middle of the timeline for example. It would be great if that was possible on TV too. Moving forward with 10s or 30s steps while transcoding is painful. thank you!
FrostByte 5024
According to the manual for 2020 and 2021 Premium sets H.264 FHD: Level 4.2 supported (FMO/ASO/RS not supported). H.264 UHD: Level 5.1 supported. HEVC FHD: Level 4.1 supported. HEVC UHD: Level 5.2 supported. HEVC 8K : Level 6.1 supported. (8K only) HEVC: Supported only for MKV/MP4/TS containers. VC-1 AP L4: Not supported. GMC 2 and higher: Not supported. MVC: Partially supported. so ya according to the manual H265 4K only for 5.2 and only for Premium TV grouping. Not saying it doesn't work though, that's just what Samsung supports. There's always those edge cases where it works, but it isn't fully supported.
