MB3 – Remote Connection with 3G/LTE issues – No internet

I have installed MB3 on a laptop for testing.  When connecting the laptop to DSL router MB3 works fine without any issues. HOWEVER MB3 does not work when connected to a 3G/LTE Router (Netgear MBRN3000). I have tried with the port forward on the router however the 3G/LTE service provider do not allow port forwarding.

How can I setup MB3 as standalone and not connect to the internet. Everytime internet is offline MB3 tries to connect to the following site.

http://www.mb3admin.com/admin/service/MB3ServerNotifications.json

http://mediabrowser.tv/

http://www.mb3admin.com/

and all the devices can’t communicate anymore.

Any ideas?

Are you sure your clients are connecting to the correct IP address when connected to either router?

Check the IP addresses when connected to either router and compare that to the client settings.

Yes they are using the correct IP.

Attached screenshots.  1. Displaying the Server not connecting. 2. Server not connecting including the IP address of the server. 3. Android device where I manually enter the IP address to connect. 4. Android Screen goes blank and then 5. Applicaiton error.  I also get time where it will display could not contact the library.

I did the same test where I took the enviroment that is working fine and unplug the internet cable and got the same issues

Ok, I would expect MBS to function on the local LAN without an internet connecting, have never tried it however and I'm not near my home to test it now. Will try later to see what it does for me. Can you try any other way to see if the laptop itself is available on your LAN (maybe a network scan App or from another computer)

I had the same problem with the Android client a few weeks ago when my internet was down for half a day. The client couldn't connect to the server. MediaBrowser-Classic and MediaBrowser-Theater could both still connect. One of my testers has his internet drop for a few hours but the Android client still worked for him. My conclusion is that it's a combination of how the Android OS handles networking and the router in question. Unlike windows clients, the Android OS doesn't handle UNC paths (\\MyServer\MyShare). It has to use either the full IP address or a fully-qualified domain name (http://MySite.MyDomain.com or http://192.168.0.15). I believe, that some routers have trouble resolving non-unc addresses when there isn't a working internet connection.
