Force transcoding?

A bit of goofy question. My Samsung Crystal 4K sucks at deinterlacing 480i video. The Samsung Emby app is excellent at direct play and handles my 480i MKV and TS files perfectly.  Unfortunately, this means the Samsung TV has to handle the 480i video itself, which results in a not-great picture. If I play the same file in a browser on the Raspberry PI connected to this TV, it looks great... because the browser can't handle these containers and forces transcoding.  I could just play all my 480i stuff here... but I really like the app and using the TV remote with it. Is there a way to force certain containers or video resolutions to transcode, even if the app can actually handle it directly?

Hi, it's possible for the future, but there's currently no option to do that. Have you checked out the server's feature to convert media? You could just convert them once and for all ahead of time.

Happy2Play

Shouldn't all clients have "Playback Correction" so we can switch playback from DirectPlay/Remux/Transcode?

Yes I suppose although historically some devices have had a greater need for it then others.

I'll have to check it out -- I was never sure what the conversion function was for and sort of glossed over it when looking at settings.
