Force http playback

What's happened to the "Force HTTP Playback" setting in next-gen? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

I previously had this set to disabled in order to force direct playback when using it in add-on mode. 

Is there some new, other way to do this in next-gen? Can I set the setting in the settings.xml file instead?

Not added yet in 5.1.17. If there is need for that, I can add that option. Unfortunately, such a feature requires playlist manipulations in Kodi and that's exactly what I'm avoiding at the moment.

May I ask, why not using addon mode in the first place?

I think initially I set Force Http to 'off' because I was having issues with some other addons such as subtitles. I was following a suggestion in this thread: 

 

I don't have much need for those addons now so maybe I can do with out the 'Force http' setting. I was just looking for it as it was how I'd always previously had it setup. Please don't go adding it back in if it's a hassle.

I'll try with out it now and see how it goes.

Hi,

the "Force http playback" option is very useful when I use playback mode - add-on and download subtitles. When the "Force http playback" option is turned off, when subtitles are downloaded via KODI, they are saved in the movie folder. Since the option is missing, I use playback mode - native (direct path) so that I can save the subtitles when downloading them to the correct location, but so I can not use cinema mode and watch trailers.
Can the "Force http playback" option be added again?

Cinema mode/trailers are already added for native mode (in beta version).
