Downloaded media doesn't play in Emby when bluetooth headphones connected but VLC plays it fine

Emby Server Windows 4.5.4,0

Android 7.0 on Asus Zen pad

BETA app version 3.1.76

Started recently, previously fine format video will not play in Emby app directly, gives "NO compatible streams" error.  Sometimes will play streamed from the server.  Same files all play perfectly in VLC. Prior to this issue I would get the same error between videos but hitting OK would allow the video to play.

It gets weirder though, I just figured out it only happens when I have bluetooth headphones connected. Without them it plays everything fine, that's weird, but reproducible.

Log definitely indicates an audio track issue (see log snip below), its EAC3 6ch which I know is overkill for headphones but if VLC plays it, emby should too, right? I've attached the log but the important part appears to be this:

HI, can you please try the new 3.1.80 release? I'm not necessarily expecting this will be any different, but just want to make sure. Thanks.

Sorry for the delay, I'm not sure when I got the update to 3.1.80 but as you predicted, it still only plays some files and it's still only a problem if bluetooth headphones are connected.

I just discovered this same issue myself. I have 2 Emby servers (local and seedbox) with a variety of media. As soon as I connect my BT earbuds to my tablet, all I get is 'no compatible streams.' Hadn't experienced it before 3.1.80.

Because of this and the live TV issues I've been experiencing for months now, I have now rolled back to the last Android client that I don't have major issues with, which is 3.1.23. I don't think any of the updates since then are really production ready, but of course that's just my opinion and everyone is going to have a different experience depending on how they use Emby.

What bluetooth headphones are you using?

Mine are Cambridge audio Melomanias (same kind of thing as airpods but cheaper and aptX compliant). The tablet I use with these is an old Galaxy tab S (first version). The combination works fine with other software (YouTube, Kodi, Plex etc) or with Emby < 3.1.80.

@stuartsharp can you please supply an android app log?

Thanks.

Hi Luke,

Sorry, I'm away from home for the next few days. I've also rolled back my Android clients to a more stable Emby version (3.1.23), so I don't have this issue or any of the others I've been experiencing the last few months. I hope the OP can help.

Ok we're looking into it, but if you can get that information it would be very helpful. Thanks.

Hi guys,

I tested your beta and didn't find any problems at all with BT audio, so that seems like a good fix (at least for my HW).

The issues with playing TV channels are still in there, so 3.1.23 is still the optimum version of the Android client for me right now. But it's definitely moving in the right direction. Thanks for the good work!

Hi, version 3.1.92 has been pushed to the store to resolve the bluetooth audio playback. Thanks.
