mckarg 4
Hi! I'm just starting using emby - My system: emby 4.4.3.0 on Synology DS1819+. When i sign in to emby connect, my server isn't shown. In the beginning it was shown, but i couldn't connect, so i deleted it. How can i add my server again, without using my ip adress, which is changing every day? Thanks in advance

If so just use your IP as shown on the Dashboard which is the preferred method to login on your own lan. Let us know if this helps or not.
Luke 37061
Hi there, can you update to Emby Server 4.5.4? https://emby.media/synology-server.html
mckarg 4
Acces in LAN is fine. What i'm trying to get going is access in WAN. So i'm going to do the update an see what is happening...
Carlo 4330
Updating software versions won't change your WAN/Remote access. That requires specific setup. Have you done this yet? If not let us know and we can point you in the right direction.
mckarg 4
Thanks for your quick reply. I don't think, that i have done a specific setup. What worked was access from outside my home network by ip adress http://80...:8096, after i've configured port forwarding as recommended. This ip adress isn't static. I thougt, emby connect would provide some kind of dyndns function, so that i can log in via https://app.emby.media/#!/startup/connectlogin.html using emby online user and password then click on my server and connect to my emby interface using my configured emby server user and pass. From the start, my server was shown at this point, but connection couldn't be established showing an error like "connection not possible" (immediately after clicking on my server icon). So i deleted my server in this screen, now i'm at this point: Image 013. I can add my server using my ip 80... and it's working, but the next day - when i get a new ip from my internet provider, it's working not. I hope this explanation can be understood
Carlo 4330
So I'll take it you're using mckarg as your Emby Connect username (same as forum)? Do you have this EC username filled in for a user on your Emby Server in the optional Emby Connect username?
mckarg 4
1) correct - mckarg is my EC username 2) no - the optional Emby Connect username is empty in my at the moment only emby server user i guess i have to fill in mckarg here
mckarg 4
after filling in mckarg i see my server when going to https://app.emby.media/ when clicking on the server - there's the error message again
Carlo 4330
Can you translate that message? Are you using your "forum/EC" password when logging in? Remember your local account and EC account are completely different with likely different passwords. OH BTW, after adding yourself as EC user check your email as you may need to validate that (check spam folder also).
mckarg 4
The message means: "Connection error It's not possible to connect to the selected server. Please make sure, that it's running and try again," I've validated my email adress before. My first step was: "Login with emby connect" - in the mask shown (image 023) i entered my ec user and pass (mckarg) - this is working. I get an error message when trying my local account. Then the server is shown (image 024) and when i click on it the error message from my last post appears.
Carlo 4330
OK let's put aside Emby Connect for the moment. Can you connect and login properly directly with IP and the user/pass as setup on the server?
mckarg 4
yes
Carlo 4330
OK try removing the Emby Connect user in Web admin. Save user Add Emby Connect user back Save user Test again and let us know if this works. PS What browser are you testing in?
