Someone has done this for Plex (which is why I've chosen to start using plexbmc) but my preference would be to use XBMC3C. http://openelec.tv/forum/128-addons/57363-addon-plex-media-server?limitstart=0 I'm assuming my reason for wanting this set up are common to other users: all my media files are served on my primary HTPC (which i run openELEC on due to its speed / low reaources) and shared with other clients (raspberry pi, apple TV 2). You could for instance, introduce the people in that open elec thread to Media Browser and see if you can find interest from someone willing to take on the project.
