How to update software correctly on TS253Be

Hi, just seeking some basic advice. Simple answers I'd say but couldn't find them.

I was running 4.4.3.0 but it kept stopping on my NAS. I suspected it was the digital signature problem.

So I upgraded for the first time with 4.5.4.0 with the qpkg file which seemed to go well but on restart I needed to reset up the whole system and library again.

I had problem here as although it saw my movie files straight away, for some reason it couldn't see my TV series. Luckily after multiple restarts it finally saw it.

I've loaded new software onto PCs and Sat Boxes and the like before. Most of these keep the settings and the re-setup is simple.

So two questions:

What's the ongoing problem with the digital signature, I'd hoped the new version would make it go away?

Is there an easier way to upgrade the software?

Hi, unfortunatey QNAP is not currently providing a way for sideloaded apps to be signed digitally. We're continuing to monitor it in case anything changes.

And when I load a new version, should I load it over the existing one or should I delete the old one first?
