Only plays 1 song then stops

Hi, I'm trying to get this to work with my UPNP speakers.

The play to function finds the speaker, and I can play the music through those speakers.

However when trying to play an album or something, it only plays the first song and then stops. It does not play the whole album song after song.

Hi Luke,

I use this with Devialet Phantom speakers.

How old is this device?

Trying to find the logs.

On similar subject i've re-installed Emby on a different machine.

My first machine was a Raspberry Pi 4 running latest Raspberry OS. Play On shows the Devialet speaker, however stops after 1 song as per this forum question.
Emby installed via docker using the emby/embyserver_arm32v7:latest image.

My second machine is an Intel Up board running Ubuntu 20.04. Play On does not show the Devialet speaker.
Emby installed via docker using emby/embyserver:latest image.

The DLNA settings in Emby are set to the same on both servers. Why does the Ubuntu 20.04 version not show the Devialet speaker ?

Heres the logs.

I've cut the top part cause it was too long.

From the interface I played an album by clicking play on the album itself, not the individual song.

Once it started playing on the web page, I then went to select play to (at the top) and selected the Devialet DLNA speaker.

The song played fine, then once the song finished, nothing. It did not continue to the next one.

I found out why the Ubuntu version was not working with DLNA => network host mode required for that.
That part is now fixed.

Playing a full playlist or album song by song still is an issue. After the 1st song, the playing stops.

Any updates on this ?

I had the same problem and finally found the cause....My case not as complicated as yours  (Upnp, Rberry, DLNA, Ubuntu, etc) and hopefully this thread will help others with the same issue I had.  I tried Emby from a remote device and then a different browser (other than my Firefox default) on main server and songs played continuously. So I checked my Firefox settings and realized I had turned 'Autoplay' off a long time ago (because my news home page likes to automatically play videos when i just want a quick headlines scroll). When I changed this setting, Emby played entire albums and/or playlists like it should. To change in Firefox:

1. Click 'Tools' from Menu bar (or the 'Settings button - the 3 bar hambuger' button)
2. Click 'Options'
3. Click 'Privacy & Security'
4. Scroll down to 'Permissions' and click the 'Autoplay' Settings button
5. Choose 'Allow Audio and Vido play' - or set up the Emby URL (http://localhost:8096/....) as execpetion to the rule.

This post/thread was the closest thing I found on the 'only plays 1 songs' issue. Hopefully such a simple settings change will help others with the same problem as me.

Unfortunately Tboner this didn't work for me.  I select an album and the first track plays then it stops.  I am casting from my mobile to Chromecast using the Emby App.  I don't remember this happening before - has there been an update that could be causing the change?

Hi facing the same problem:

Fedora 36
Emby  Server 4.6.7.0
Client Chrome
Renderer (?) Yamaha wxc-50

On detail, not sure if it is important, but If I play the music from Emby server from within the Yamaha application everything works perfectly well.

The log seems ok, nothing special in it:

Where you able to understand why is it happening ?

Thanks in advance, tonio

An Update on my previous comment.

A couple of things that might be meaningful, but really not sure:

  • If I play the music from Emby server from within the Yamaha application everything works perfectly well.
  • The "cast" symbol,  after 2 or 3 minutes the music started playing changes to disabled (black content), and if I want to send music to my Yamaha again I need to connect again
  • After music starts playing, when sending to Yamaha, I don't see the song and stop/pause controls at the bottom of the screen

Thanks in advance, tonio

One more update

Late in the night while I was watching my LG TV I decided to try Emby Android Client, when I looked at available devices I found a LG-DLNA available I wasn't aware off, so I tried it,  and it worked perfectly well.

I added debug level to the Emby server and send it to Yamaha,  no Errors or Exception Stacktrace appear in them, anything I can do to help you ?

Thanks again.

What happens is we show the controls when we become aware that the device has started playing. There's probably some other method of doing that for Yamaha that we'll have to account for.

From your answer, what I understand is that you cannot follow up what is happening after you send the file,  similar thing might be the reason why the connection is lost after a while.

Thanks very much for your answer anything I can do help with it, in case it is on your plans,  I'll be very glad to do so 🙂.

I am facing same issue with Pioneet VSX-324 Receiver. This is an Emby issue and nothing else. Please fix it. This is a general DLNA issue with Emby. It is on Andorid mobile devices the same..

  • Thanks 1
