Suring 4.5.4 startup it forward to .NET installation download.

But even after installing both x86/x64 version - still the same.

OS; Windows 7 Pro x64.

I'm surprised to see that dialog given that the .NET Core runtime is embedded into EmbyServer.exe,  but we'll try to chase down why that's happening. Thanks.

I just had this happen once on a existing portable but could not reproduce the issue.

But this is on a Windows Insider test machine also.

Tony B.

The .NET question came up on "EmbyServer.exe" startup.

I cannot run the emby server now.

I appreciate all the ways that you are making your product better but, I certainly don't think I should have to come here because your server won't run.

Plex is horrible but looking better than not being able to watch any media.

Did you try the fix Luke posted above?

Re-downloading (and installing) it doesn't fix it.

Ok, what's the answer? Do we just not watch media until there is a fix?

You gave him 11 minutes to investigate a problem he's never seen before.  Does Plex fix problems quicker than that?

I don't understand why it's RTM when it doesn't work.. This should have been solved in Beta phase.

If it had come up then it would have but personally suspect more of a Windows issue here as it is now just becoming a issue.  IE never seen before now.

In the rules of beta testing, you are supposed to install it on a fresh system. Thank God for virtualization.

If you need me to help debug code, I would happily do it. I would rather help you than bitch about minor things like closed captions or major things when the server won't start.

Thank you for putting the new release together fast. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a VERY Happy New Year.

I have on multiple Windows builds and portables and as mentioned I had this pop up once and only once and was never able to reproduce it.  So please provide exact steps to make it happen every time.

Also list exact Windows version number.

Since thousands are not having issues I would say this is not a common issue.

Typically with something like this it's specific to the computer being installed on.  Some other program or an update has changed something in the registry, a json file or similar that causes the issue.

Usually a second install or manual .net core update fixes things.  When/if that doesn't work it's time to make sure all windows updates are present but being this is an end-of-life OS for almost a year and a 10+ year old as well, it might be time to start thinking of upgrading the OS as well to something still getting support and fixes.

Tony can you try uninstalling net core (both) and doing a reboot followed by an Emby server install again?

Just uninstalled Microsoft Windows Desktop Runtime - 3.1.10 (x86 & x64).

Restarted Emby Server - still working.

So, I have issue with executable, which downloaded automatically.

Installation, downloaded manually on December 19 - works fine.

Just got this message. Seen it many times before

I have seen this issue sometimes only when Windows cold boots. So I think it is a timing issue. Emby loads before NET core is ready maybe. A restart of Emby always clears it up.

Just popped up again for no reason. Did not cold boot. Did not even do a restart. This message was there when I came in this morning. Emby seems to be working fine.
