Hi

I have the problem that after about 4 hours of playback of Emby,

the stream stops. What could be the reason and how can I prevent it?

Emby Server 4.6.0.8

VBox Gateway XTi 3452 Version 2.66.20

Is this when using a Roku?

Why does the prompt appear after 4 hours?

Research shows that four hours without remote activity is a good indicator that no one is watching the content being streamed since most movie and TV shows are less than 4 hours, including sports-related content.

In your Roku settings find "Bandwidth Saver" under Settings >> Network and turn it off.

Also.. in almost every Emby app is a setting called "Runaway playback prevention" which is like the Roku bandwidth saver. After 5 hours of no interaction with the remote the Emby TV apps will stop playback if that setting is enabled. This prevents your TV from playing all night long. If that is what you want by all means disable that setting. It will come enabled by default.

Hi there, have you explored the options in the Emby Roku app?

What client/app are you using?

Devs will probably need a server log of when this happens, and ffmpeg log if present.

Don't know as no one knows what is causing the issue you are having all we are doing is guessing.  Per comments above that setting should not be trigger until 5 hours of playback.

Devs will need to look at the server log and ffmpeg for that item if one was created.

Since you are on a Synology, I would go to the dashboard-logs and download the log your issue happened in.  Every time you restart Emby a new log is created and every night at midnight the log rotates to a new on.  Embyserver.txt is the current log.

Depending on how the media was being played will determine whether a ffmpeg log is created.

Unless you know how to access the log location on this platform.
