johnchimpo 7
Would like an option to only require passwords for connections from external devices - i.e. any external IP address device requires a password (but can be autoentered by the client after that). This way local devices, which are already secure in a home, do not require a password (especially useful for multiple users on the same client), but devices outside the network do. Please provide your thoughts.
swhitmore 781
Isn't the password cached anyway? Auto login works well for me.
johnchimpo 7
Isn't the password cached anyway? Auto login works well for me. Imagine you have multiple users that access a single HTPC in the livingroom via a WMC remote control - requiring a password each time a different person sits down adds a bunch of remote control button presses and a significant annoyance. Whereas if a switch could be set in the server to only require the password when requests come in from external IPs that would not be a problem.
swhitmore 781
Ah, I get you. I only have one profile. I can see how this would be handy for multiple ones though. The option you have to be password protected so that if you're using profiles as parental control, kids can't bypass it.
