I'm going to hijack this thread as I'm having similar issues since some weeks ago.

I Will downgrade using docker and test. I can also provide logs and such

I'm using a nvidia SHIELD 2019 pro. Not using embycon but emby for kodi.

Also, i'm using directplay not transcode, and the content i watched yesterday was stopping every 2 to 3 minutes. The bitrate is arround 7Mbps for those files.

It seems that kodi was buffering the file just normal, but at some point It decides to not buffer anymore and even fastforwarding past that point would cause the playback to stop.

Resuming the file again wouldn't be a problem until again 2 or 3 minutes later

Hi, I'm having same issue on embycon and it's driving me crazy! It also happened on emby apk with direct url but many other users on my emby provider have not reported any issues. I had no issues untill about 3weeks ago. It's only happening on https port 443 protocol if I use http port 80 it plays fine with no random stopping! I'm using Kodi 18.9 and latest version of embycon in stable repo +embuary skin 18.8.9

Nah, i'm using docker so It is no hassle.

Upgraded to 4.6.0.4 from linuxserver.io which is the latest beta they have.

Will try the playback later this night

It's more or less the same.

I'm seeing some kind of pattern. Ressiting the kodi database, I got it working for arround 30 minutes or so, but then it starts stopping like crazy.

I'm going to do a full reset of emby server and kodi.

quickmic

Please upload/send me Kodi and Emby-server log files.

I think this could be a corner case with NVidia shield, maybe I can detect the issue.

Hi it's certainly not a corner case with Nvidia shield it's been reported by several other users on the forums here as well. I'm having the random stopping issue on the https protocol (443) as well on all my devices: S20 Samsung, Chromecast w/Google TV, Firestick on embycon KODI and emby apk. Unfortunately I don't have access to server logs because it's not my personal server but it's only happening since the emby server update 4.5. Hope it's being looked into and fixed soon.

Hi there, have you made sure to provide the information requested in how to report a media playback issue?

Ok, well, I managed to find the issue myself. Got a traefik proxy and seems it's doing funny things. Dunno why as it has sit on version 1.7 for... years now? But connecting to emby directly doesn't cause any weird issues (which BTW I also was having some crashes with Plex and Jellyfin using the proxy.)

I can see this on the traefik logs
time="2020-11-07T20:42:31+01:00" level=error msg="vulcand/oxy/forward/websocket: Error when copying from client to backend: websocket: close 1006 (abnormal closure): unexpected EOF",2020/11/07 01:19:40 reverseproxy.go:445: httputil: ReverseProxy read error during body copy: unexpected EOF,
time="2020-11-08T11:49:07+01:00" level=error msg="vulcand/oxy/forward/websocket: Error when copying from client to backend: read tcp 172.17.0.2:443->188.26.197.30:45760: read: connection reset by peer",
time="2020-11-08T00:14:58+01:00" level=error msg="vulcand/oxy/forward/websocket: Error when copying from backend to client: websocket: close 1006 (abnormal closure): unexpected EOF"

Nice moment, as I was looking into migrating to a newer version of traefik or linuxserver/swag with SSO integration.

Now I have an excuse :)
