Newbie questions: transcode audio, write-protect library

Hello,

I run Emby server 4.5.2 on OMV5 NAS (Debian 10) as a Docker container.

My purpose is to direct stream or transcode music files to an AV receiver (via DLNA).

I have two questions related to setting up the environment I want:

- How do I set up transcoding of audio formats not supported by the receiver? For example MP3 files should be streamed, and OGG should be transcoded.

- Can I somehow make sure that all the music library I configure will not be touched in any way? No files modified/added/deleted? I know about "Metadata folder" advanced setting. Is there anything else to set up? I can make all the folder read-only to Emby user, if this is the only way, but would it break anything?

TIA

Hi,

You don't.  Emby will do this automatically for you. However, depending on your hardware it's possible you might need to tweak a DNLA profile

So try things out and let us know if you hit any snags or issues and we'll take it from there.
